I asked a question about the general metagame temperature about a week ago, and now that I've finally checked it out, what is so game-changing about Spooky Manor pokemon? There are a number of interesting additions, but nothing looks very game-changing at all.

As vague as it might sound, WTF is going on? I've been out of touch for a few months, and I don't really have any idea of what to do. In three sentences or less, what are the most important things that have been happening recently?

I bought like, five different games of varying generations, so I guess I kind of qualify for Gen 1 being my entry point, but it was technically in the early days of RS.
