WEEK 20 WOOO
FEZANDIPITIPIDITIDI
1699260272176.png

Alright, busy times for RarelyUsed with the last shifts. Among many hype Pokemon, we received Fezandipiti the bird of the Loyal Three from the first DLC. It is a legendary Pokemon which also means high BST. Fezandipiti is decently physically but more so specially bulky with 125 in SpD. What makes it interesting is that it is quite speedy as well: Fezandipiti is actually faster than common threats like Typhlosion-H, Krookodile, and Mimikyu which makes it quite similar to Scream Tail. While higher than the aforementioned Paradox Pokemon, its offensive stats are somewhat low. However, it compensates by having a very versatile movepool which can allow it to fulfill many roles. You will find coverage moves such as Moonblast, Sludge Bomb, Heat Wave, Dazzing Gleam or Play Rough, Gunk Shot and Brave Bird. Setup moves like Swords Dance, Nasty Plot and Calm Mind can also be interesting. Finally it learns very useful support moves such as U-Turn, Taunt, and Toxic. Speaking of Toxic, Fezandipiti has of course the very controversial Toxic Chain ability which enables it to spread status very easily thanks to not only physical but also special moves. This Pokemon is enjoying a warm welcome from the player of the tier and I believe it can become very relevant in the ongoing metagame. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to share your most creative Fezandipiti sets and explain them in order to contribute to the growth of the RU metagame ! Happy 20th Week everyone !

Offensive Pivot

Fezandipiti (M) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Technician
Tera Type: Fighting/Flying
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dual Wingbeat
- Double Kick
- Roost
- U-turn

From the many variations I have in mind, I pick this physical set

General idea and why this set can be good
Generally, with this pokemon you pick the special route due to Calm Mind and stronger special moves, but don't underlook that Atk because 91 in enough to work with Technician + 2-hit moves.
This generation blessed Fezandipiti with Technician, which power-ups the base power of weak moves (such as Double Kick and Dual Wingbeat) that have a good amount of PP to work with before being STABbed. Luckily enough, Fezandipiti has just the 2-hit moves to use effectively this ability!
  • Dual Wingbeat has 90% accuracy, but it is worth the risk because it has decent power even before Technician, becoming as powerful as Brave Bird, but without the recoil and with the possibility to break a Substitute and dealing damage in the same turn;
  • Double Kick is the main reason I prefer Tera Fighting over Flying. It also has 100% accuracy and many PP.
Roost in mandatory here because this bird has a good 88/82/125 buk to tank many hits, even thanks to the set of resistances/immunities you have, so you are able to switch-in many times to weaken the opposing team.
U-turn is key to keep momentum. Swords Dance is good, but 4MMS is a thing.
The EVs spread is a basic one. The item chosen is HDB because you want as much freedom to switch-in&out as possible.

The Tera gives a lot of extra power, but it is possible to play decently even without.
Some calcs without Tera:
252 Atk Technician Fezandipiti Double Kick (2 hits) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Lycanroc: 220-260 (75.3 - 89%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Technician Fezandipiti Double Kick (2 hits) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Tyranitar: 288-344 (71.2 - 85.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Technician Fezandipiti Double Kick (2 hits) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Krookodile: 188-224 (56.7 - 67.6%) -- approx. 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

-1 252 Atk Technician Fezandipiti Dual Wingbeat (2 hits) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tauros-Paldea-Aqua: 136-160 (46.7 - 54.9%) -- approx. 5.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Technician Fezandipiti Dual Wingbeat (2 hits) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Lilligant-Hisui: 528-624 (187.9 - 222%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Opportunity cost & weaknesses of the set
In order to maximize the effectiveness of the set you have to drop Toxic Chain (good to make risky for the opponent to check for many turns Fezandipiti without having a Poison/Steel type available), but most importantly you have to use the Tera on it to have enough attacking power to make the difference. Intimidate can be played around thanks to U-turn and burn is a thing, so Heal Bell support is really useful.

oh cholera czy freddy fezbear

So, for this, you beat up, proc toxic, maybe roost on a switch or something, and spam either stab venoshock or hex. Biggest issue is that opposing steel types (tera'd or otherwise) will completely wall this set.

physically defensive as only psychic is common supefrrefective move used on fezan, and because eq is quite common, anjd dark types are too and u don't fear psychic. status the oppo and let them suffer by stallling turns via protect!

Taunt + Toxic Fez

Lover (Fezandipiti) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Toxic Chain
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 132 HP / 196 Def / 16 SpA / 80 SpD / 84 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Toxic
- Roost
- Moonblast/Sludge Bomb

Taunt + toxic makes it a formidable opponent to slow, balance teams. Only mons immune to toxic are 'safe' from fezan. Roost makes it not die and pairs well with boots though lefties are an option as well. The stab choice is on you depending on how much fighters and darks threaten your team. Tera grass is chosen here to resist ground as well as water moves. However, tera ghost and water are fairly good too.
The speed allows it to outspeed neutral natured base 90s. The spdef makes sure non specs/lo jugulis Earth power never 2hkoes, while the spatk allows moonblast to blast through pawmot, jugulis. The rest is poured into defense.

Ability: Toxic Chain
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 248 HP / 84 SpA / 176 Spe
Timid Nature
- Acid Spray
- Heat Wave
- Moonblast
- U-turn
Man, I'm really into recommending assvest sets aren't I. Anyway this set uses AV to bolster Fez's already solid special bulk to incredible levels. Acid Spray shores up the set's lack of offensive presence, often forcing a switch and giving Fezandipiti a free U-Turn. The case for using this set over Calm Mind is the immediate special bulk provided by AssVest as well as Acid Spray encouraging more pivot opportunities, letting it spread poison easier with Toxic Chain. Sludge Bomb is also an option for more immediate power, though Fezandipiti isn't exactly the definition of an offensive threat.

This generation brought us the gimmick of Terastallize, which power-ups to 60 the base power of weak moves (such as Dual Wingbeat and Double Kick) that have a good amount of PP to work with before being STABbed. Luckily enough, Fezandipiti has just the 2-hit moves to use!

That isn’t how the tera BP increase works

1. It doesn’t work on multi-hit moves and Dual Wingbeat as well as Double Kick are multi-hit moves
2. The BP check for the boost is done after every other modifier has already been applied so technician would have already brought it up to 60 which means tera wouldn’t give it a BP boost

Bulkier Grafaiai that still has a decent speed stat. Tera flying to dodge EQs and boost the power of acrobatics. Can bait a Krook EQ to get boost and OHKO it with Play Rough or a tera’d acro.

3>4>6

Reasonings
3: totally missed Venoshock (which is also STABbed) and Hex on a pokemon with the ability Toxic Chain. It is also a good way to fix virtually that middlign base SpA stat.
4: Simple set, but Protect in singles is a little undderated (especially towards Choice-item users) and this pokemon can make good use of it thanks to the poison.
6: A classic set, and Fezandipiti has the possibility to punish careless switch-ins very easily. The loss of recovery is huge, though.

WEEK 21
TINKATON
1699873538466.png
Up next is no less than the new RU mascot: Tinkaton ! Just kidding Bellibolt is still number one in our hearts but still let's hammer it out, Tinkaton is the highlight of the week ! A very useful typing combined with lots of good utility moves makes it a good contender for the A tier category. On top of this, Tinkaton is faster than foes such as Krookodile or Revavroom and is decently bulky on the special side. If you're going the defensive utility route, keep in mind that during early metas and for Pokemon like Tinkaton , spending time finding a good EV spread is key in order to win here. Same as finding a useful Tera type. Less so but this is true as well for the offensive route if you plan to use moves such as Swords Dance coupled with powerful coverage. As usual your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to share your most creative Tinkaton sets and explain them in order to contribute to the growth of the RU metagame.
From the Smogdex:

Stealth Rock Utility:
Tinkaton @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: anything
Tera Type: anything
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Gigaton Hammer
- Knock Off
- Encore
Yes, it has Metronome.
Submission deadline: Sets should be submitted by 11:59 pm GMT+1 on Friday, November 17th,
Voting deadline: votes will go until 11:59 pm GMT+1 on Sunday, November 19th.

Hop and-a skip down the Metro

Tinkaton @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Pickpocket
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 176 HP / 80 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Gigaton Hammer
- Metronome
- Rest

please don't taunt me

the heat of the heat. I will say on the record that I legit really didn't see anything else that was appealling other than SD and like, thief??? So anyways heres a set that thrives off of being as annoying as possible. Spread T-wave, get lucky with metronome, but the real funny part comes with the pickpocket. This lets you rest up and get back to full, burning the chesto, and will be able to steal the item from one mon that match. This lets you get the jump on stuff like krookidile and other contact move users that think they're the guy, and overall is a more passive but still useful version of koff. This lets you at least make some useful progress and get a leg up on mons that like switching into tinkaton, like forre, krook, and muk-a. This lets you steal the wide lens off of mons like maushold, and lilligant-H running hustle, along with letting you steal crucial items like eviolite from bisharp and the boots / life orb and such from the many contact move users of the tier. Overall, get lucky, spread para, and steal items.

SD Tinkaton!

Tinkaton is a really interesting mon. It has a crazy Signature move, movepool and Typing with meh stats all around except for that good sp.def and decent speed however boy is that signature move insane. Gigaton hammer is nuts in BP alone. It does face stiff competition as an SD fairy type from the slightly faster Mimikyu and SD bisharp who has incredible trading powers and powerful priority. However Tinkaton is nowhere near outclassed. It Packs Insane amount of strength to begin with Higher than mimi by a shot. It also is an offensive sweeper thats NOT checked by mimikyu either as Mold Breaker lets it avoid Disguise entirely. Now It does face incredible competition from Bisharp however Tinka has its advantages. It crucially doesnt need eviolite so it can run a useful held item like leftovers lum berry or Air Baloon. This is simply INCREDIBLE. Being able to hold baloon alongside Mold breaker means that it can 1 v 1 Unaware quagsire [albeit water absorb is more popular but unaware is just as good as imho people have been wanting a water immune ground type forever at this point lol so thats prob why its more popular ] a mon that puts Bisharp on its tracks. The power difference between these mons is also incredible. Even after a boost Bisharp cant reliably two shot hippo or bulky donphans and cant one shot offensive donphan. However Tinkaton doesnt have these issues. Also its access to stab play rough is really nice aswell. Its play Roughs arent too far off from Bisharps Night slashes either. Also Tinkaton gets Knock Off! Now it doesnt always want to fit this move in its movepool but its ability to do so to soften its checks for late game is BIG. So with these in mind the set that I made is this.

Tinkaton @ Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
Tera Type: Steel/Dark/Grass/Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough / Tera Blast
- Gigaton Hammer
- Knock Off

So the Set is with sd gigaton hammer play rough and knock off. Fairly standard. In early game it can just knock off and cripple its checks by softening them so they are unable to take a boosted gigaton hammer. Most notably Hippowdon and Donphan. The baloon means that hippo is walled entirely especially if it runs the risingly popular stone edge over whirlwind. It does two shot hippo after a boost with gigaton hammer or straight up ko with a +2 tera gigaton hammer which is just absurd. Steel is ingeneral pretty good coverage rn smacking common mons like diancie fezandipity gardevoir Ttar lycan scream tail and mimikyu through disguise. Knock off slamms common resists like basculegion and especially slowbro. play rough helps there vs irritating mons like milotic and vaporeon..
The tera type can be dark or steel depending on whom u want to hit harder. Grounds or slowbro. This set does unfortunately set does hate waters thus it is Viable to run Tera grass to beat waters like slowbro vaporeon and milotic instead of play rough. This does make it unfortunately more tera reliant so thats a trade off u have to make. Fire gives it burn immunity esp from Talonflame. Jolly nature ensures it outspeeds non scarf flamigo luc and Jolly vrooms. Its also extremly hard to knock out in 1 hit so its really useful at trading hp while being fast aswell. Overall Its a really underrated mon that does its job really well.

Tinkaton @ Choice Band
Ability: Own Tempo
Tera Type: Ground/Flying
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Gigaton Hammer
- Play Rough
- Knock Off
- Tera Blast

Physical Tinkaton that gets an immediate tradeoff of power instead of having to use a turn to SD. Pretty standard moves otherwise though, G-Hammer can be a bit iffy, but it is Tink’s best steel stab, and with the boost in power it can run through everything more easily, even if you do have to switch out afterwords. Tera can go either way here, if you want a better way to deal with Hilligant or other immediately powerful fighting or ground types, go with tera flying, if you want to deal with other steels more easily, go with tera ground. Own Tempo is nice because it means that it can’t be intimidated by any of the good intimidaters in the meta right now, and will always keep the boost from CB.

Eject Pack Attacker

Tinkaton @ Eject Pack
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Normal
Jolly Nature
- Ice Hammer
- Gigaton Hammer
- Knock Off
- Facade

This is my attempt on Tinkaton.
The moveset is physical and it has Gigaton Hammer as STAB + Knock Off for both power and utility. Ice Hammer is here for coverage AND to use Eject Pack to keep the momentum once; it also has a good base power of 100, which is nice with that middling Atk stat. The momentum is one of the key factor in pokemon battles, so I bet

In the last slot I have Facade to use properly this pokemon when it is burned, and that's why I picked a Tera Normal. A Tera Normal-boosted Facade when burned....is a thing.

Since it is an offensive set, Own Tempo is generally better than Mold Breaker, because the latter is more useful towards Mimikyu. Own Tempo, blocking Intimidate alongside preventing confusion, is generally more versatile.
