NOC Vote n' Veto NOC Mafia - Game Thread [Game Over - Town Win!]

Banned deucer.
Could you translate that to English
I was going to but upon further thought these two setups are shit.

Black Flag is nightless and weird.
Friends and Enemies the masons can just out and put mafia in a bad spot from the start.

How about...

Even-Odd Killers

  • 2 Even-Night Mafia Goons
  • 1 Odd-Night Serial Killer
  • 5 Vanilla Townies
  • 1 Cop
Basically in this 9p setup, the mafia and serial killer trade night kills. Prior to the game starting, the Serial Killer will select Investigation Immunity or One-Shot Bulletproof.

This is a cool setup that allows the mafia to play differently than usual. It also forces Town to solve differently from a traditional 7v2. The night kill restrictions prevent the game from spiraling for Town. The cop has no night protection, and the Serial Killer's investigation immunity keeps them from being too powerful.

Lol I could run Death Note mafia again. A setup that got me flamed in Mafia Universe in the most condescending way possible, but I still maintain was experimental and fun.

rerun a past setup imo

the 17p is probably a bridge too far but i liked caffeineboost's game a lot. actually i could've sworn there were more fun crazy open setups but i can't seem to find any
yeah both of these are good

the second one would be really fun in my personal opinion (I am biased) but 17 might be tough yeah

This is the setup, it's been run twice with a Mafia win and a Town win and imo produced interesting results
I wouldn't recommend, if I'm honest, if everyone wants then sure but the problem with this setup is either mafia gets absolutely massacred or down gets an auto loss and regardless of what happens the actual solving game of mafia doesn't really effect the outcome of the game imo?

tbh this feels closer to an oc setup than noc, in which case we could try an oc if others want to try that for a game?

I'd be down to participate in reviving OC to go with NOC.

The thing about this setup, at least in theory, is that it's a role madness game where people are as heavily disincentivized from claiming as possible. Town wins are by definition supposed to come from the actual solving game of mafia, because if they don't they expose themselves. It's swingy, sure, but the other thing about this game is that it's a 14 player setup that has the potential to not drag for weeks while still having the content of a proper long form game. It flat out isn't designed to be an OC game but I'm sure I could design one of those if there's demand.

I know it's been a bit but I was once a mod on this subforum and I've run plenty of games.

Personally don't feel that OC will go so great at least at the moment - kinda don't feel like we have a retaining player base to justify an OC game or a good way to explain the format in the most "practical" way at the moment (good OC play generally has follow the leader mechanics which requires generally more playing demand + greater knowledge of night actions to solve)

If you have a setup you would like to post up please put it in game proposals so that me or Tommy can look at it (+ feel free to bump any threads if you have any).

Wrt the deathnote conversation sadly 14 players is kind of a lot to ask for right now (and tbh nobody uses the circus maximus server atm so probably reviving a way to communicate with other players over discord instead of just smogon is prob for the best? Might be better for player interaction/recruitment too)

I'm going to post https://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Popcorn_Mafia and edit some ratios for signups in a second.

Yeah interest was my real concern with both Deathnote and OC. You can't scale down deathnote and you generally need to target the size of your OC game as you're designing it plus if you run with fewer than 15 people it isn't a good time. I would still design one if there was enough interest though, because I personally really loved Outside Communication Mafia as something interesting that only Smogon was doing.

If anyone is interested in playing OC in the future, react here. If I get more than 10 I'll know it's worth it to try for an OC game and work on designing something over the next month before putting it through Game Proposals.
