Pokemon: Mewtwo-Mega-X
Take: 1
Type: Psychic/Fighting
Ability: Distract (Intimidate for Special Attack)
Stats: 106/190/80/174/120/120 (+80 Atk, -10 Def, +10 SpA, +20 SpA, +20 SpD, - 10 Spe)
New Moves: Parting Shot, Psychic Fangs
Competitive Niche: Mewtwo-Mega-X already has a great offensive typing, so I kept that and gave it an offensive niche of helping to take on special attackers. It can use Taunt to break stall or Parting Shot to pivot, and is generally an annoying mon. It has trouble breaking through physical walls such as Groudon-Primal or Necrozma-Dusk-Mane, however, and can be OHKO'd by these mons easily due to its subpar physical bulk.
Sample Sets:
Pivot (Mewtwo-Mega-X) @ Mewtwonite X
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Psychic Fangs
- Low Kick
- Taunt / Earthquake
- Parting Shot / Earthquake
Setup (Mewtwo-Mega-X) @ Mewtwonite X
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Psychic Fangs
- Low Kick
- Recover
- Bulk Up
Pokemon: Metagross-Mega
Take: 2
Type: Steel/Psychic
Ability: Magic Bounce
Stats: 80/135/130/105/130/120 (+10 SpA, +40 SpD, +50 Spe)
New Moves: Heal Order, Rapid Spin, Roar
Competitive Niche: Mega Metagross functions as an improved Sableye-Mega, having great defenses along with Magic Bounce. It can set rocks, remove its own hazards, and roar the opponent away. It does compete with Necrozma-Dusk-Mane, however, who has a better matchup versus Groudon-Primal and other physical sweepers due to its Prism Armor ability and higher Attack.
Sample Sets:
Specially Defensive (Metagross-Mega) @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock / Rapid Spin / Earthquake
- Meteor Mash
- Heal Order
- Roar / Earthquake
Pokemon: Mega Blaziken
Take: 2
Type: Fire/Fairy
Ability: Sheer Force
Stats: 80/140/80/140/80/110 (+20 Atk, +10 Def, +30 SpA, +10 Def, +30 Spe)
New Moves: Moonblast, Play Rough, Vacuum Wave
Competitive Niche: Blaziken-Mega is a unique mixed wallbreaker, having a great offensive typing and stats along with a movepool packed with good coverage. However, it struggles against Groudon-Primal and can be revenge killed by faster mons like Marshadow, Yveltal, Lunala, and Ultra Necrozma.
Sample Sets:
Physical (Blaziken-Mega) @ Blazikenite
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Play Rough
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance / Protect
Special (Blaziken-Mega) @ Blazikenite
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Fire Blast
- Moonblast
- Earthquake
- Protect
Pokemon: Metagross-Mega
Take: 3
Type:
Ability: Triangulate* (Compoundeyes clone)
Stats: 80 / 170 / 130 / 95 / 105 / 120 | BST: 700 (Base +35 Atk, +15 SpD, +50 Spe)
New Moves: Dragon Dance, Dragon Rush
Competitive Niche: Mega Metagross loses its useless Psychic typing in exchange for the much better Dragon typing, also gaining too good moves in Dragon Dance and Dragon Rush. Its new ability, Triangulate, increases its accuracy by 30%, allowing its main STABs Meteor Mash and Dragon Rush to practically always hit. Not having Outrage means it won't get locked in when things like Xerneas are around, and Dragon Dance gives it a way to boost its most important stats. It is differentiated from the other Steel/Dragon, Dialga, by its high speed and being a physical threat.
Pokemon: Mewtwo-Mega-X
Take: 1
Type:
Ability: Unaware
Stats: 106 / 134 / 110 / 200 / 110 / 120 | BST: 780 (Base +24 Atk, +20 Def, +46 SpA, +20 SpD, -10 Spe)
New Moves: Nasty Plot, Earth Power
Competitive Niche: Mega Mewtwo X is a very hard hitter with base 200 SpA and Nasty Plot. Psystrike and Earth Power hit most Ubers Pokemon like Primal Groudon, Xerneas, Primal Kyogre, and Ho-Oh hard, with Ice Beam providing coverage against Lugia, Yveltal, Mega Salamence, and Zygarde. Unaware allows it to ignore boosts from Xerneas' Geomancy and Primal Groudon's Swords Dance.
These two mons seem questionable at best and downright broken at worst, since they have no viable defensive switch-in once they setup. Metagross-Mega is less of an issue than MMX since it can get walled decently by Skarmory and Celesteela, but neither are really used all that often because they don't have much of an impact on the mons that they want to beat. MMX, on the other hand, is just plain stupid because of its huge movepool that absolutely destroys any switchin. You'd have to continuously sack mons once it sets up a Nasty Plot, which is ridiculously overpowered and unhealthy to the Ubers meta.
252 SpA Mewtwo-Mega-X Psystrike vs. 4 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 301-355 (46.8 - 55.2%) -- 71.9% chance to 2HKO
+2 252 SpA Mewtwo-Mega-X Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Ferrothorn: 177-209 (50.2 - 59.3%) -- 79.3% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 SpA Mewtwo-Mega-X Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Prism Armor Necrozma-Dusk-Mane: 277-327 (69.5 - 82.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 SpA Mewtwo-Mega-X Psystrike vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Arceus-Fairy: 387-456 (87.1 - 102.7%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
Recently, I've been seeing a trend of people who have been submitting ideas without really considering its effect on the pet mod metagame. I'm not calling you out in particular, Origin, but I think that there should be a separate category of proof that the optimized Pokemon still has defensive and offensive checks, using the damage calculator.
