It would make it seem like the site's bandwidth (following suit with why this is going down on Showdown) is equally jeopardized. Just spitballin' here.

Clearly my bulbasaur sprite was a masterpiece, oho! Also Layell, any reason we're not allowed to use .jpgs to ramp up the shittiness quotient a bit?

Edit: Non-transparent backgrounds, I know, but surely that's a benefit in this case!

Small reasons to be sure but:

Wynaut.jpg 4.15 KB

All files have to be .png or animated gif for PS

so if I save Wynaut.jpg back into a png it is: 10.7 KB

And to be fair the standard animated sprite is 36.6 KB

I just don't see the worth really in making some JPEGS, but I would perosonally prefer JPEGS as the exception rather than the rule.

i know you're joking, but i think the more good artists are participating in this, the better. even if individual bad sprites are funny, having 700 of them kinda gets old, so it's good to mix them up with some well-drawn, but ridiculous ones (like chou's).
