Dr. M-ALT-ntis's Useless Stats Vol. 1
The ALT PL Draft is less than 12 hours away. Now that signups are closed, here are the final numbers for signups in each tier:
ADV Ubers -
61 total signups: ADV Ubers appears to be a very popular tier - and with good reason, as I quite enjoy it as well. While a large pool is good for managers, it means the actual starting lineup for ADV Ubers will surely be quite competitive with only 6 actual starting slots. The ADV Ubers field is certainly shaping up to be an all time great compilation of players.
ADV UU -
60 total signups: ADV UU comes in at second place with 60 total signups, just barely under ADV Ubers. This is a bit surprising considering the fact that this tour is acting as an unofficial test for Jumpluff + Arena Trap - which means most players will need to build fresh teams to take all things into account for this season. But ADV UU is still great, my favorite tier actually, and I look forward to seeing how these games play out.
ADV NU -
56 total signups: I guess ADV is very popular! Ubers, UU, and NU for ADV take the top 3 slots for signups, with NU having quite a bit of big names looking to get some hot and cold Glalie action going on. There is likely a lot of overlap between ADV NU and UU signups, but with 56 total for ADV NU the regular season starting pool is going to most definitely be a good one.
RBY UU -
55 total signups: RBY UU was so close to breaking up the ADV trifecta at the top, but was 1 sign up shy of doing so. The RBY UU pool, however, looks extremely and ridiculously stacked, with nearly all 55 signups being high quality RBY UU players. And with Lapras now in the tier, there are sure to be some fresh teams being let loose this season as the tier continues to develop. Still expect lots of Tenta wrapping though.
GSC UU -
52 total signups: GSC UU comes out as the most popular GSC tier with 52 signups, as it enters only its second tour since the agili-pass ban. When Shuckle stalls meet Scyther SD passes, which will ultimately come out on top? Luckily there's enough high quality talent in the pool to answer this question as the season progresses.
RBY Ubers -
48 total signups: As we finally dip to the tiers with under 50 signups, we arrive at RBY Ubers. Many in this pool are also very good at other tiers, so the 48 total may in reality be a much smaller number practically speaking. There is a TON of overlap between RBY Ubers and RBY UU players luckily, and since the RBY UU pool is so stacked, I envision some of those players to take on the Ubers mantle for the season.
RBY NU -
46 total signups: With Poliwhirl just banned less than 24 hours ago, a new RBY NU is looking to see some further development post-NUSD. While a Poliwhirl-free tour has already happened, there is still lots to be explored here and the players in the RBY NU pool are mostly mainers who are eager to push their favorite tier to new heights as the season goes on.
GSC NU -
45 total signups: While the GSC NU pool has almost the same amount of players as the RBY NU pool, a close look at it will tell you that it's actually very shallow. Many of the signups here list GSC NU as a second, third, or fourth option. There are some mainers there for sure - certainly enough to round out 6 starting slots - but those same players could be called on for other tiers, and as such I fully expect the starting 6 GSC NU players in Week 1 to be a bit different/shuffled from the starting 6 GSC NU players in Week 5
ADV DOU -
42 total signups: I'm not sure this tier has ever been included a team tour so I have no clue what to expect. There were actually a good number of signups listing this as their only tier, meaning interest is definitely there for doubles players. While solo tours and money tours have been had, seeing this in action from a team perspective is going to be a real treat for mons lovers and doubles lovers alike.
GSC Ubers -
39 total signups: I don't know what happened here - I tend to enjoy GSC Ubers quite a bit, but it got the least amount of signups out of any tier. There are definitely some big names there nonetheless, and with only 6 teams I am absolutely positive the games will be high quality all around with more than 6 starting caliber players in the pool. I think it will actually be on of the most competitive.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. I'll have more random useless stats at some random useless time during this random season.
