Overview
Tyranitar is one of thebiggst biggest threats in the AAA metagame due thanks to its great offensive power and typing. With Adaptability,(comma) it can break through most physical walls, as its Dark-(hyphen) and Rock-type STABs STAB moves are difficult to reliably resist. It also has good natural bulk and the typing to take on common threats in the metagame,(comma) such as Latios, Victini, Honchcrow Honchkrow, Entei, and Skarmory. Tyranitar's ability to check these threats is enhanced by its Adabptability-boosted Adaptability-boosted Pursuit, which traps and KOs KOes many offensive offensively oriented foes. Tyranitar is only held back by its slow Speed, but it is sill still remains one of the biggest threats in AAA.

Moves
Crunch is Tyranitar's most reliable move,(comma) as it provides a strong, reliable STAB move that is not resisted by many common physically defensive foes. Stone Edge is another STAB movewhich that hits even harder than Crunch but comes with the significant risk of missing. Pursuit gives Tyranitar the critical ability to trap foes that threaten its teammates. The last slot should either be given to Superpower, which KOs KOes a common threat in Lucario, a common threat;(semicolon) Toxic, which can hinder bulky checks' ability to switch into Tyranitar late-game later in the game;(semicolon) or Rock Slide, which provides a more reliable Rock Rock-type STAB move than Stone Edge.
Set Details
Using a Choice Band and maximum Attack EVsmake allow Tyranitar to do deal incredible damage to foes. The rest of the EVs are put into Speed to allow Tyranitar to outspeed most defensive foes. Adaptability boosts the power of Tyranitar's best attacks with no drawback, making it even more threatening. While not optimal due to the noticeable power drop, a Jolly nature can be used to outspeed uninvested base 100 Speed foes,(comma) such as Zapdos and Mew, as well as checks that speedcreep Speed creep Adamant Tyranitar,(comma) such as Meloetta.
Usage Tips
Due to Tyranitar's sizeable natural bulk, it can switch into threatening attacks such as Braviary's Brave Birdor and Victini's V-Create and then trap them with Pursuit. Double switching from a special attacker into Tyranitar to lure and Pursuit trap the special attacker's check on the opponent's team can clear the way for Tyranitar's teammates to sweep late-game later in the game. Crunch should be used in most circumstances,(comma) as its damage output is so high that it is not worth risking the Stone Edge miss unless absolutely necessary, such as when the opponent has a Diancie.
Team Options
Tyranitar can be used on both offensive andbalanced balance team builds. Fast special attackers such as Latios and Thundurus appreaciate Tyranitar's ability to Pursuit trap their checks, such as Meloetta. Adaptability Honchcrow can break through some of Tyranitar's checks,(comma) such as Intimidate Hippowdon, Intimidate Skarmory, and various Chesnaught sets, making it a great physical attacking partner for Tyranitar. Entry hazard stacking from Deoxys-S makes Tyranitar even more threatening, and Tyranitar as it puts immense pressure on Defog and Rapid Spin users. Lastly, Doublade is a reliable teammate,(comma) as it can take on Fighting-type foes that threaten Tyranitar.

Moves
Crunch is Tyranitar's most spammable move,(comma) as it is strong, cannot miss, and is not commonly resisted. Stone Edge is a powerful move with good coverage for a Flying-type-popularheavy metagame. Pursuit allows Tyranitar to switch in on and trap does foes,(comma) such as Latios, Gengar, Thundurus, Gengar, and Braviary. Superpower allows Tyranitar to OHKO Lucario, a common check which that resists both of Tyranitar's STAB moves STABs, as well as an opposing Tyranitar. Toxic can cripple checks such as Intimidate Gliscor and Hippowdon, giving Tyranitar a chance to break through them late-game later in a match. Rock Slide hits hard due thanks to Adaptability and is more accurate and thus more reliable than Stone Edge;(Semicolon) however,(comma) the power difference is noticeable.
Set Details
252Atk Attack and 252 Speed EVs make Tyranitar as strong and fast as possible. Adaptability increases the power of Crunch, Stone Edge, and Pursuit, all of Tyranitar's power for Crunch, Stone Edge, and Pursuit, its best moves. With a Choice Scarf and a Jolly nature, Tyranitar outspeeds many of the previously mentioned fast attackers in the metagame such as Thundurus and Latios.
Usage Tips
Use Tyranitar as both a trapper and a revenge killer,(comma) as it does both jobs very effectively. Utilizing Volt Switch and U-turn to pivot provides Tyranitar a safe method to switch into foes that it can trap. If a certain foe is especially threatening for your team, sacrifice a teammate to allow Tyranitar to come ina safely and trap that threat. Be cautious not to lock Tyranitar into Pursuit,(comma) lest if [This is up to you, but I feel "lest" fits better than "if"] it provides the opponent a foe it cannot check the with an opportunity to set up with a threat that you cannot check, such as Lucario.
Team Options
Pivots such as RegenVest Meloetta and Genesect can pivot after a foe's attack so that Tyranitar can safely trap the foe. Manaphy and Volcanion appreciate Tyranitar's ability to trap and KO faster threats such as Thundurus and Latios. Doublade can crucially switch into and KO Lucario, which is a major threat to teams that rely on Tyranitar. Intimidate Zapdos is another good teammatedue thanks to its Ground immunity and defensive stats that allow it to switch into threats such as Landorus and Tough Claws Lucario; it can also utilize Volt Switch, U-turn, or Baton Pass to pivot into Tyranitar.

Other Options
Since Tyranitar does its job so well,(comma) there is little reason to use a different set, but there are two decent options. RegenVest Tyranitar utilizes Tyranitar's bulk and typing to make a greatspecialy specially defensive wall that can take on threats like Latios, Skarmory, and Heatran, but it is generally outclassed by Meloetta. Secondly, using Defiant and Tyranitarite gives Tyranitar to chance to get a +2 boost on most Defog users and KO them and KO most Defog users.
Checks and Counters
Lucario: Lucario is the most threatening check because it is very common in the metagame and can OHKO Tyranitar or set up on both of Tyranitar's STAB moves and potentially sweepthe its team.
Bulky Intimidate Users: Hippowdon, Chesnaught, and Gliscor all have the defensive stats and typing to successfully switchin into and threaten Tyranitar.
Bulky Fighting-types: Chesnaught and Cobalion resist both of Tyranitar's STAB moves, have the bulk to switch in several times, and can OHKO Tyranitar.
Bulky Ground-types: Zygarde and Garchomp can set up on Tyranitar when it is locked into a Stone type [what does this mean..?] move, and then OHKO it with Earthquake.(full stop)
Bulky Fairies: If Tyranitar is locked into a move other than Stone Edge, Fairy-type Pokemon like Diancie and Florges can set up with Calm Mindboosts and threaten Tyranitar it with Moonblast.
