[SET]
Primordial Sea (Zapdos) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Primordial Sea
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Thunder / Volt Switch / Weather Ball
- Roost
- U-turn / Weather Ball
[SET COMMENTS]
Zapdos functions as an offensive pivot thanks to its high Special Attack and typing while simultaneously checking threatening Fire-types like Iron Moth and Heatran thanks to Primordial Sea; this also allows it to fire off completely accurate Hurricanes, which OHKO the likes of Galarian Zapdos and Great Tusk. Thunder can be used to deal significant damage to the likes of RegenVest Manaphy and Gholdengo and potentially paralyze foes, while Weather Ball hits Ground-types like Sandy Shocks as well as Fire-types like Desolate Land Heatran, Cinderace, and Ceruledge. Volt Switch can be used instead if you're not running U-turn to deal more damage when pivoting, at the cost of being blocked by the likes of Swampert. U-turn helps Zapdos maintain momentum against special walls and safely bring in teammates. Zapdos struggles against most RegenVest Pokemon, like Hisuian Goodra, Meloetta, and especially Swampert, so it needs physically offensive teammates like Iron Boulder and Chien-Pao that can take care of them. Due to its Stealth Rock weakness, Zapdos prefers to keep its item and benefits from Pokemon like Corviknight and Great Tusk that can absorb Knock Off.
