Zamazenta is an extremely fast, dangerous wallbreaker that takes full advantage of the relative scarcity of bulky, Fighting-resistant Pokemon in the metagame. Many teams are reliant on Melmetal to deal with physical attackers, often leaving them unprepared to switch into Zamazenta's powerful Close Combat. Its Speed tier gives it the jump over threats such as Galarian Darmanitan-Z and Mewtwo, and it has the bulk to easily survive common priority moves like Refrigerate Kyurem-B's Extreme Speed, which makes it challenging to revenge kill. Earthquake is an important coverage move that hits Eternatus, Toxapex, and Aegislash, and U-turn is used to retain momentum, scout for Dynamax, and chip down Zamazenta's checks so that it can break through them later. Knock Off hits Ghost-types like Lunala and Gourgeist and provides utility by removing items like Rocky Helmet and Leftovers. Alternatively, Bolt Beak can be run for Golisopod and Gyarados and as powerful neutral coverage against a range of targets, particularly Zacian. Mach Punch is a niche option in the last slot that can revenge kill weakened opponents and helps to check setup sweepers like Quiver Dance Kyurem-W, but it lacks utility overall and is not very good to be locked into.
It's important to pair Zamazenta with a Pokemon that can handle an Imposter user that comes in against it. Depending on Zamazenta's coverage, good options include Golisopod, bulky Ghost-types like Gourgeist and Dusclops, and Zacian. Zamazenta also appreciates teammates that can take advantage of the physical walls that it pivots out against. In particular, powerful special attackers like Lunala and Reshiram can fill this role effectively. Being locked into Close Combat is dangerous against Ghost-type setup sweepers such as Dragapult, Necrozma-DW, and Marshadow. A Prankster user such as Melmetal, Umbreon, or Eternatus can prevent these threats from sweeping your team and allow Zamazenta to use Close Combat more liberally.
