Sunny Day Real Estate - Shadows

Can't avoid singing along anytime this song comes up. So full of emotion.

Hands down, it's Metallica - Orion

Its one of the few songs that i can listen too whenever, wherever, in whatever mood im in.

This is also the song thats inspired me to save the money (Which i'm still doing), and buy a bass guitar. Cliff Burton's playing in this is so amazing.

Radiohead - The Tourist

I love everything about it.. I could try to explain, but there is so much I want to say I could never get through it all..

Just the extended building of tension through the phrase, to the 4/4 bar.. Makes me feel good inside every time I hear it.

Have a nice day.
:*

for me its a tie between "the tourist" and "time" by tom waits

"time" is probably the only song that makes me get teared up (http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=50298). i can't even put it into words, so maybe someone more articulate than me can try (laz)

Mod fuck. Like so many others, I'm having trouble picking one. From the top 4 of "Hotel California" by the Eagles, "Right Side of the Bed" by Atreyu, "Shesmovedon" by Porcupine Tree, and "I Know You Are, But What Am I?" by Mogwai, I'd probably have to go with "Hotel California". I can relate it to so many things in my life, and I always relax when I hear it, no matter what mood or state of mind (lol now) I'm in.

ps: my dog is licking his dong

Its clearly Trailer trash by Modest Mouse or There is a light that never goes out by the Smiths.

But Seriously despite the utterly ridiculously prefectness of There is a light, and even despite all the emotions There is a light brings me Modest takes it. I have a tendency to react rather strongly to certain songs (calling me unafraid to care) but no song I've ever heard brings to mind as many feelings as Trailer trash.

It somehow manages to both convey the utter sense of uneeded loss and broken hearts while at the same bringing a bit of a smile to my face. Its hopeful. Its thankful. It conjures up memories of friendships lost and living and reminds me not to screw up the shit I have. Unlike 99% of art it neither pretends everythings rosy (even not shitty), nor that theres nothing around to live for. It means alot to me.

"Right Side of the Bed" by Atreyu
good stuff! my favourite Atreyu song is Her Portrait in Black though, annoyingly not on any of their albums as far as i'm aware :/ their You Give Love A Bad Name cover is awesome as well

ELO - Mr Blue Sky
this song is so messed up it terrifies me. I'd go to my friends house and he'd have all the lights out and this song playing on repeat just to freak me out...

Mine keeps changing, but currently it's Porcupine Tree - Arriving Somewhere But Not Here.

That song is just so damn amazing.

Opeth - To Bid You Farewell

I will check out Grace. I actually have the album since I had heard one great song from it, but I haven't listened to the rest of the songs yet.

For me, it's been Bear vs. Shark - Song About an Old Roller Coaster. Their genius has really made itself obvious to me recently, what an amazing band they were.

Ladytron - Destroy Everything You Touch

it's really hard for me to choose, but i think this wins!

Under Pressure - Bowie/Queen

Clever lyrics and arrangement with excellent vocals. Driven by the greatest bass line ever, the song gradually builds to a climax that soars beyond the musical stratosphere before ending unassumingly. Written with the backdrop of Conservative Britain, Under Pressure captures a snapshot of a trying period in our history, yet there is a naive and hopeful quality about it.

It's altogether a feel good song for me, I cannot help but smile when the bass kicks in =]

Edit: kickass video too.

lol

anyway, my favorite would be Sufjan Stevens - They Are Night Zombies!! They Are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back From the Dead!! Aahh

if i had a band with 6 or 7 members on it, this is the song i want to perform with me on the vocals. this song is too beautiful to exist. if i can pick 3 then the other 2 are the new pornographers - the bleeding heart show, and broken social scene - anthems for a seventeen year-old girl.

this is too hard. :(

np: the go! team - huddle formation

Explosions in the Sky - A Slow Dance

There's just something about this piece of music that makes me feel happy when it's on.

Right Side of the Bed was what got me hooked on Atreyu when I heard it on the Headbanger's Ball (most of HB 1 and 2 suck, I regret buying them). Besides that song, Our Sick Story (Thus Far) is fucking amazing. The energy... mostly the drums. The lyrics are... I dunno, I like the story it tells, even if it is a fucked up one.

The Crimson, The Remembrance Ballad, and Bleeding Mascara get honorable mentions.
