ORAS UU Victory Veterans

Hi there, welcome to my second UU RMT. I call it Victory Veterans (I don't know a name so I picked some random name.) Anyway, let's have a quick look at the team before going in-depth.

Without any further ado, we'll go more in-detail of the team with the movesets of the Pokemon.

Granbull @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Heal Bell
- Play Rough
- Earthquake

Granbull is a pretty decent physical tank. It stops any Fighting-type in the meta, and also beats one of the tier's biggest threats, Hydreigon (or dragons in general). The only physical Pokemon that can stop a Granbull switch in are either wallbreakers or Poison/Steel-type Pokemon. Special attackers, such as Dragalge, can break through, but they have to watch out for Earthquake. Thunder Wave cripples offensive Pokemon, and Heal Bell is a good supportive moves and Granbull's base Attack prevents it from being set up bait. The only thing Granbull lacks is reliable recovery, which sucks a bit.

Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Iron Tail
- Extreme Speed
- Swords Dance

Excellent offensive attacker. Great attack and wide movepool, along with decent Speed. It can switch into Poison- and Steel-types for Granbull, and beat them. Close Combat + Iron Tail are good STAB attacks and Extreme Speed can pick off opposing Pokemon or outspeed Choice Scarf Pokemon. Swords Dance allows it boost up to a great Attack stat, which is furthered by a Life Orb boost.

Chandelure @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball
- Trick

This thing is the Choice Scarf'er on the team and an excellent mon as it is capable of breaking through substitutes with Infiltrator. Fire Blast + Shadow Ball is a solid STAB combination, and Energy Ball hits Mega Swampert and Quagsire quite well. Trick cripples defensive Pokemon trying to recover, leaving them with only a single option.

Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Hone Claws
- Stone Edge
- Aerial Ace
- Earthquake

This the team's Mega. A definite threat if you manage to get up a Hone Claws. Stone Edge doesn't miss and Aerial Ace is a secondary STAB attack which hits Fighting-types resisting Stone Edge hard. Finally, Earthquake hits opposing Electric-types that threaten Mega Aerodactyl. The Jolly nature allows it to outspeed max Speed Mega Sceptile and Mega Beedrill, and beat them with an Aerial Ace.

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 216 HP / 252 Def / 40 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Earth Power
- Toxic
- Recover

This defensive Pokemon is an excellent counter to CroCune and also is a rather good check to Fire- and Electric-types in the metagame. The EVs balance is bulk a bit. Scald is a decent, spammable STAB type attack that has the added utility of being able to burn foes, crippling physical attackers. Earth Power is a secondary STAB attack which hits Steel-types such as Doublade better. Toxic is an overall great status attack which cripples both physical attackers and defensive Pokemon with dealing damage every turn. Recover provides constant recovery for Gastrodon, allowing it to stay healthy.

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Seismic Toss

Great Special tank which is immune to Ghost-type attacks and can take on almost any special attacker. Stealth Rock helps teammates to KO opponents earlier, Toxic constantly deals damage against opponents and Seismic Toss prevents it from struggling when opponents go for Taunt, as well as it allows to break certain Substitutes. Wish allows Blissey to stay healthy and is excellent for teammates such as Mega Aerodactyl and Granbull which lack reliable recovery, and allows them to stay healthy.

So, this was the team! Please rate and give improvements if you have them!

Yo soul, gonna fix this team up real quick.
  • Gastrodon is not a Crocune counter without setup, it gets PP stalled out of moves and loses 1v1. Because of this try Curse EQ Gastro over your Toxic and Epower. This Gastro actually beats Crocune 1v1 and gives you a decent win condition against stallier teams. Obviously if you use Curse you're gonna want to invest in more special defense and probably change to a Sassy nature.
  • Protect on Blissey either over toxic or rocks. Wish + Protect pretty much go hand in hand since without it you're not guaranteed to get your wish if you're 2hkod. Protect's also good for scouting against things like Scarf Rachi/Mienshao.
  • You want hazard control of some form on your team. Rocks put way too much pressure on your team with 2 rock weak mons and no way to get rid of them. Not to mention how much Tspikes ruin your team, affecting every single one of your walls putting them on a timer right when they switch in. I'd honestly try Defog Aero or Forretress over Granbull. Defog Aero may seem unconventional, but you gotta do what you gotta do. You already have one set up sweeper (possibly 2 if you use curse gastro) so losing one doesn't hurt you too badly. On the other hand, Blissey pretty much deals with Hydreigon so you don't really need Granbull to beat it and Forry deals with all the other dragons in the tier and sets up rocks and spins. Pretty much up to you what you want to do, but hazard control is pretty much mandatory on a team like yours.
Hope I helped!
