[SET COMMENTS]
With Chlorophyll doubling its Speed under the sun and making it faster than every unboosted Pokemon in the NatDex metagame, Venusaur is a staple on dedicated sun teams. Thanks to Growth giving a +2 boost under the sun, it allows Venusaur to quickly power up and threaten opposing teams. However, Venusaur struggles to hit everything it wants due to needing both Sludge Bomb for Unaware Clefable and Mega Latios and Weather Ball for Corviknight, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor. Furthermore, its lack of immediate power, middling bulk, and reliance on the sun make it an inconsistent and one dimensional sweeper. Giga Drain is Venusaur's main STAB option thanks to the recovery letting Venusaur stay healthy in spite of Life Orb chip damage and other hits while also allowing it to beat Chansey and Blissey more comfortably. Earth Power hits one of the biggest threats to sun in Heatran, as well as Galarian Slowking, which otherwise walls Venusaur. Weather Ball is the primary option due to it allowing Venusaur to blast through Steel-types such as Corviknight, Mega Scizor, and Ferrothorn, which otherwise wall it. Sludge Bomb can also be run, as it provides a much stronger STAB option that allows Venusaur to break through Mega Latios and Unaware Clefable, but it is generally an inferior option due to it rendering Venusaur unable to break past certain Steel-types. Poisonium Z can also be used in place of Life Orb to allow Venusaur to break past Mega Latias, which its sun teammates like Blaziken and Victini really appreciate, but this sacrifices the overall power it gets from Life Orb. A Modest nature is used because the extra power is needed to secure crucial KOes on Pokemon like Mega Latios, as well as consistently beating Chansey and Blissey, and the Speed increase from a Timid Nature is generally unneeded and is only useful for Choice Scarf Greninja.
Venusaur only fits on dedicated sun teams due to its reliance on sun to function effectively. Thus, Torkoal is a needed partner alongside Venusaur, as it's able to set sun and provide Stealth Rock to help Venusaur clean better. Furthermore, Torkoal also checks the Steel-types that non-Weather Ball Venusaur is unable to break through. Fire- resistant Pokemon like Hydreigon and Mega Garchomp are also great partners alongside Venusaur due to them checking the likes of Heatran and Volcarona, which are often an issue for sun teams as a whole, and they appreciate Venusaur eliminating Unaware Clefable for them. Pokemon such as Victini, Heatran, and Blaziken are stellar partners for Venusaur, as they can punch holes in the opposing team for Venusaur to clean late game. Lastly, naturally fast Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Tapu Lele and Landorus-T make up for Venusaur's low Speed stat outside of sun, and can also clean weakened teams.

Other Options
=============
Solar Beam can be used instead of Giga Drain due to its much higher power; however, it is generally an inferior option, as Venusaur never really needs the extra power, and the extra longevity and usability out of sun with Giga Drain is usually preferred. Furthermore, it also worsens Venusaur's matchup against opposing weather as it doesnt provide immediate pressure, and leaves Venusaur in a bad spot.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Opposing Weather**: Weather setters such as Pelipper, Alolan Ninetales, and Tyranitar can change the weather, thus removing Venusaur's Speed boost and halving the efficiency of its Growth. This renders Venusaur much less threatening as a result and causes it to get outsped by other weather sweepers such as Mega Swampert, Arctozolt, and Excadrill; however, neither Alolan Ninetales nor Tyranitar want to switch into Venusaur, as they can get KOed or take significant damage, respectively.
**Fire-types and Fire-type Coverage**: Heatran, Volcarona, and Victini can all threaten out Victini with their STAB options, but all of them fear switching into a boosted Earth Power. The likes of Mega Diancie and Clefable can deter Venusaur from freely switching in with their Fire-type coverage; however, they are both forced out by it normally.
**Psychic-types**: Mega Latias counters nearly all Venusaur sets, as Venusaur can't do enough damage even with a Growth Boost; however, it does fold to the rare Poisonium Z sets. Other Psychic-types such as Reuniclus, Mega Latios, Mega Medicham, and Tapu Lele all force out Venusaur, but they all fold to a boosted Sludge Bomb.
**Ice-types and Ice-type Coverage**: Pokemon such as Weavile and Kyurem are consistently able to force Venusaur out, with the former boasting a strong Ice Shard to revenge kill a weakened Venusaur in sun, and the latter is bulky enough to take a hit. Ice-type coverage options from the likes of Mega Lopunny, Clefable, and Greninja all pressure Venusaur out.
**Revenge Killers**: Faster threats such as Unburden Hawlucha, Choice Scarf Greninja, as well as priority from the likes of Mega Medicham, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Mawile can all revenge kill Venusaur under the sun; however, they cant switch in.
