[SET COMMENTS]
Vanilluxe's high Special Attack and great offensive typing allow it to act as a serviceable wallbreaker in the tier, but due to its poor matchup against most Steel- and Fire-types and lack of defensive utility, it's a niche option that can be difficult to fit on teams. Access to Snow Warning allows it to throw off powerful Blizzards without repercussion, and Freeze-Dry gives it a way to hit the Water-types that could otherwise take its hits like Milotic, Mantine, and Gastrodon. Ice Shard gives it decent utility, allowing it to pick off weakened Dragon-types like Noivern, Flygon, and Haxorus. Taunt allows Vanilluxe to prevent recovery from Pokemon like Milotic and Umbreon, making it easier for it to break them. Alternatively, Aurora Veil can be used to give sweepers on Vanilluxe's team an easier time finding opportunities to set up, especially in situations where Vanilluxe is no longer needed. Substitute can be used over both moves to ease prediction, and Vanilluxe finds a lot of chances to use the move because of the switches it forces. However, it cuts into its already poor longevity and utility. Heavy-Duty Boots is the recommended item to give Vanilluxe more opportunities to come into battle; Never-Melt Ice is also viable, though, achieving feats like knocking Toxtricity out with Blizzard after Stealth Rock damage.
Gigalith is Vanilluxe's most hated enemy. Not only does it take anything Vanilluxe can throw at it with ease, it also removes Vanilluxe's hail, making the accuracy of Blizzard much worse. As a result, partners that can take advantage of Gigalith, like Pangoro and Cobalion, are recommended. Cobalion can also set up Stealth Rock, which aids Vanilluxe in breaking past bulkier foes. In return, Vanilluxe puts a lot of pressure on Pokemon like Galarian Weezing, which tries to handle Pangoro, and Doublade, which takes on Cobalion. While Vanilluxe's Speed tier is generally decent, it leaves it barely outsped by threatening Pokemon like Gardevoir and Chandelure. Gigalith makes for a good teammate that can handle these two threats thanks to its great special bulk under sand. It can also set up Stealth Rock for Vanilluxe, aiding it in breaking down Pokemon like Rotom-W and Milotic. Doublade helps out with Vanilluxe's Steel-type weakness by pivoting into Pokemon like Cobalion and Bronzong. Doublade also appreciates Vanilluxe weakening Pokemon like Sylveon and Milotic, making it much easier for it to clean late-game. Pivots like Flygon, Darmanitan, and Incineroar are helpful to bring Vanilluxe in safely on Pokemon like Milotic and Rhyperior. Incineroar can also weaken Gigalith and Sylveon for Vanilluxe, making it much easier for Vanilluxe to break them down over time. Darmanitan and Incineroar both pressure Bronzong, Copperajah, and Escavalier, three Pokemon that Vanilluxe struggles to break on its own. Escavalier in particular is very difficult for Vanilluxe to wear down, with its ability Overcoat giving it an immunity to Hail's chip damage. Thus, Pokemon like Noivern, Mystical Fire Sylveon, and Galarian Weezing are recommended to help with breaking it down. If Vanilluxe is running Aurora Veil, late-game cleaners that can take advantage of the support its Aurora Veil and wallbreaking potential provide, like Swords Dance Lucario and Dragon Dance Haxorus, are recommended as teammates. Fire-types like Incineroar are a massive issue for Vanilluxe, as this set only carries STAB moves and has no way to hit them for significant damage. Checks to them, such as Rhyperior and Rotom-W, are recommended. Rotom-W also provides Defog support, which allows Vanilluxe to more freely run Never-Melt Ice.
