Well, we had about half of the battles of last month, but with the transition to PS! and PO server crashing, I suppose it's okay. Glad to see Kyogre isn't numer #1 in 1337 anymore, other Pokemon need some love too! Giratina also passed Giratina-O in the rated stats, which is quite surprising actually. Tyranitar slowly rises and gets closer and closer to top 10, that's also a nice thing to see.

I think it's interesting that a lot of stall pokemon are higher up on the "1337" list, haha. Just goes to underscore that we're in a stallish metagame right now.

I'm not sure about others, but I think it's frowned upon to deliberately spam bad Pokemon in losing battles to inflate their stats. We're trying to get information about the metagame, and spamming stuff like Charizard and Magikarp, to the point that they see more usage than many Arceus formes, really messes it up.

Wow! Palkia is king of 1337! Maybe it says something.

With the previous commonplace leaders of Ferrothorn and Kyogre, this may mean that rain is taking a step down from the throne. Ferro and Kyogre, obviously, are Rain-centered, and Palkia is one of the common ways to handle the core. The fact that its usage outranks that of its prey (or of its benefactor, depending on how you look at it) may show that the Ubers metagame (pre BW2, of course) is taking a more diverse turn in terms of weather.

Note how positions 4, 9, and 10 are occupied by frequent members of Sun teams. While it should be duly noted that rain has not died out at all (that's never going to happen), it seems that better teams are being constructed by better players that aren't using the stereotypical rain to succeed. Heck, more sand is being run than Darkrai! Looks like we're moving towards Sun Stall being a more prevalent threat than usually, and as such it looks like we're going to need to adjust to cope.

so only 65% of teams in the 1337 stats have a solid switch-in to Kyogre? Granted ferrothorn provides nearly the perfect last 35% to fill in, but can he take two specs water spouts? But yeah, it seems a little dreary that every offensive team pretty much has to run palkia or get beaten by kyogre.

On a different note, I think I'll try out a core of giratina-o and arceus-steel, it seems like that core could work very well in a tier dominated by things like the new kyurem forms and the likes of mewtwo.

palkia is usable in all weathers so it hardly indicates a fall in rain.

Why do you need to have a solid switch-in to SpecsOgre? Offensive teams will just sac a mon and get a sweeper in for free on the choiced attack. The only teams that need Latias/Grassceus/Palkia are those that are using Pokemon like Forretress or whatever.

And even then, it doesn't matter. Snipor used Forretress on an offensive team, and despite being weak to DDRay, it didn't matter since he knew how to play Forretress against such teams (Volt Switch was good for Forry this gen). Many other teams have had slight SpecsOgre issues, but the players knew how to play around them.

A team can't prepare for everything. Kevin Garett's famous OU stall team at the end of Gen IV had no solid answer to Crocune/Cursepert, but he could still handle them via phazing and Spikes abuse. You just have to prepare for as much as you can, and play around everything else.

People are using SpecsOgre still? Damn, I need to go back to Ubers and use the Uber Strong Parasect set that I've also been using in my OU Dark Horse team. Then I can reliably run a differently-typed Arceus and other Pokes who synergize with Parasect wonderfully like I had done back in Gen IV. Well, I'll be busy trying to wait on this PS! server, and once it's back on I'll make an Ubers team with Parasect in it.

To each their own, I guess. I figured with good partners in a lot of Ubers that running a team with Parasect in it was much easier than it was in Gen IV. Especially thanks to Excadrill being a damned good RapidSpinner, Ho-Oh getting Regenerator, and a lot of other factors which make Rain a more prevalent playstyle in Ubers, as well as give Parasect more usability in Ubers than prior. Heatran's still an awesome partner for Parasect, at any rate, unless I'm sorely mistaken.

I guess the days of "Parasect is Uber strong" have passed for some, but the motto will never expire for me. While Parasect is functional in OU (I have a Dark Horse team that I still need to craft on PokemonShowdown! to retest for B2W2), it is best served in Ubers being Uber strong. I have to stay Uber strong, so back to testing Ubers stuff I go.

'Sides, I needed a reason other than testing Regenerator Ho-Oh to get back to Uber anyway. I've spent my days trying to fix other tiers such that I've neglected Ubers for too long.

Parasect sucks, even with the addition of Leech Seed. I did used Parasect before and it annoyed even Calm Mind Arceus with Leech Seed, and Dry Skin in rain. Also, Parasect is piss slow, I rather use Gastrodon in the end. Electric immune, bulkier, Recover, Scald and usable Special Attack stat, especially in rain and potentially grab a boost which is pretty easy with so many Kyogre around.

I never remembered Parasect being Uber Strong. It's BS weak, and the only thing cool about it is Spore and Dry Skin. Oh yeah Stealth Rock kills it too and you are not immune to Toxic Spikes! Also Jibaku hates Parasect more than firecape hates barn all

Hippowdon and Terrakion being used more than Lugia in 1337 stats is pretty surprising.
