Torkoal is the only viable sun setter in Ubers UU, and this combined with its great bulk and deep expansive utility movepool makes it one of the tier's most powerful weather setters. Rapid Spin and Stealth Rock allow Torkoal to operate as both an entry hazard setter and remover for its team, freeing up moveslots on its partners. Yawn gives Torkoal the ability to force switches, help bring in teammates safely, and potentially sleep Pokemon attempting to take advantage of its relatively passivity, but Will-O-Wisp is an option to particularly cripple physical attackers like Zacian and Kingambit. Although Torkoal does not Terastallize much, Tera Ghost gives it the ability to spinblock and potentially spread status to Pokemon like Arceus formes and Great Tusk. Torkoal is the backbone of sun teams, and as a result, it should only be used on them. Sun wallbreakers like Chi-Yu, Walking Wake, Roaring Moon, and Gouging Fire are appreciated partners, as they get their STAB moves boosted and Protosynthesis enabled under sun. Hazard control from Pokemon like Great Tusk can allow Torkoal to not operate as the primary form of hazard control for its team and give it more opportunities to switch in to set up sun multiple times in a game.
