Spawns: 1 (Random of Slugma, Magcargo)
Arena: Inferno

Arenas:

Inside the cave there is a somewhat large lake-like formation with hot water on it. It seems to have a connection to the volcano, but nothing that threatens your experience. But you sense that the water gets increasingly hot as you go deeper, and you can go real deep it seems. The lake is filled with water to the top and you feel that any disturbance or minor tremor is enough to to send hot water everywhere.

Summary:
  • Arena Type: Cave
  • Natural Water Source
  • No Rock Source present
  • The Usage of the moves Earthquake, Buldoze and Stone Edge causes the hot springs to spill hot water everywhere, having a 30% chance of causing burns on each and every pokemon out;
  • The move "Dive" will burn the user.
  • The move "Surf" has 30% chance of burning the targets.
The heat is stifling, but not to the level of being painful... yet. The sheer heat of the arena causes the environment to be as if the sun was shining brightly, even underground. Pokemon seem to exist within the lava and will erupt forth to assist your enemies through some mechanism you don't quite understand.

Summary:
  • Arena Type: Cave
  • No water source present.
  • Weather: Stifling Heat - treated as Sun, only reducing/enhancing water/fire moves by 1 bap instead of 3.
  • Only Sandstorm can be summoned without the respective stone. It can be active simultaneously with Stifling Heat.
  • Every five (5) rounds of combat, a Pokemon will burst forth from the lava to join the enemy team in battle. There is a 2/3% chance that the spawned Pokemon will be a Slugma, and a 1/3% chance that it will be a Magcargo.
  • Seismic attacks (Earthquake, Bulldoze, Magnitude) have their Base Attack Power reduced by 2 due to the lava dissipating much of the seismic energy of the attack.
  • In addition to Stifling Heat, Water-typed attacking moves have their BAP reduced by 2 due to the Heat
What seems to be an intricate cave system, this arena emits an eerie aura of peace. As if at any moment the void will engulf you. There are stone formations everywhere, what doesn't seem to be solely the work of nature. Some of the rocks are deattached and can be used as weapons. There is a small pond of water, although you feel that its still surface may hide terrors in its depths. Still, as you get closer to the core of the volcano, the heat intensifies, lowering the effectivity of water moves. Finally, you work all your strength to keep your sanity in check at this place of void and feel that your companions are crucial in that. Perhaps creatures used to this enviroment can use it to their advantage, especially if their are helped by others.

Summary:
  • Arena Type: Cave
  • Darmanitan's Defense and Special Defense Ranks are increased by 1 for every Darumakka on the field.
  • The Item "Twisted Spoon" causes Darmanitan to revert to Zen Forme.
  • Once on Zen Forme, Darmanitan won't revert back to regular forme, even if the causes of the original transformation cease to exist or if Darmanitan loses the Zen Mode ability;
  • Darumakka gain access to the move "Final Gambit" and are allowed to use it from Round 3 onwards.
  • Water-typed attacking moves have their BAP reduced by 2 due to the Heat
You are inside the center pit within a volcano, and is inhospitable to all but the most zealous and defiant of Pokemon species. The sheer heat of the arena causes the environment to be as if the sun was shining brightly, even underground. The heat also burns the skin simply by being so hot, and the only Pokemon that appear to be unaffected are Fire-types. Furthermore, Pokemon seem to exist within the lava and will erupt forth to assist Heatran as needed. The arena itself seems to be Heatran's very being, and beating him here will be no trifling matter.

Summary:
  • Arena Type: Cave
  • No water source present.
  • Weather: Excruciating Heat : Unchangeable, Possesses all normal features of Sunny Day.
  • All non Fire-type Pokemon take damage per action based on their resistance or weakness to Fire-type attacks. (1 DPA = 4x resistance, 2 DPA = 2x resistance, 3 DPA = neutrality, 4 DPA = 2x weakness, 5 DPA = 4x weakness).
  • Every three (3) rounds of combat, a Pokemon will burst forth from the lava to join Heatran in battle. There is a 2/3 chance that the spawned Pokemon will be a Slugma, and a 1/3 chance that it will be a Magcargo.
  • The nature of the arena allows Heatran to use the Inversion command to give him added maneuverability and evasive control. He will use this command to dodge attacks that are particularly threatening, except those that hit during it anyway.
  • Seismic attacks (Earthquake, Bulldoze, Magnitude) have their Base Attack Power reduced by 2 due to the lava dissipating much of the seismic energy of the attack.
  • Water-typed attacking moves have their BAP reduced by 2 due to the Heat, in addition to Excrutiating Heat

Syntax: [Inversion] Magma Storm (Target): Heatran uses Inversion at priority 1 and then attacks with Magma Storm at priority -4

Scenarios:

It is said that many years ago, the earth in a faraway region cracked open on a warm, starless night, spewing molten rock that burned through villages and blocking out the sunlight with ash for weeks on end. By the time the violent eruption finally let up, the earth was so scorched that plants would not grow anymore, and even Fire-type Pokémon found it impossible to live anywhere near the monstrous mound that rose where the earth had once opened. And while no one had ventured near the site of the eruption for several decades, a recent exploration team was met with a stunning discovery: a deep, blackened pit had opened at the mountain’s summit, revealing a cavern system that must surely stretch deep within the earth.

It was determined that the phenomenon was caused due to rapidly increasing seismic activity, as if a powerful force were on the move below the mountain. Several trainers have ventured out to explore this underground maze, only to return spewing nonsense about a fiery demon, surely a product of dehydration and heat stroke. However, as you climb the mountain, covered in black sand, you can smell the pungent odor of brimstone and feel the scorching heat emanating from deep within the earth, and you can’t help but think that perhaps the old man with third-degree burns and a fainted Rhydon might have been telling the truth. This is Black Sulphur Caldera.
Smoke Geysers

You enter a sloping path, careful about jumping your head on the ceiling or tripping on the gravel underfoot. After walking about a mile into the cave—although with this darkness, you can’t really be sure how far you’ve travelled—the road takes a sharp turn and leads you into what appears to be a wide-open area. From what you can tell by the dim light, the ceiling is much higher in this space, and large, irregular mounds pockmark the ground. A light mist is in the air, as the mounds randomly let out violent eruptions of steam and boiling water. You could charge through the geysers and hope that you somehow find a way through to the other side, or you could try to maneuver around them, even if this means risking getting caught in the steam. Are you feeling adventurous today?

a) Yes! Charge your way through the geysers!
b) Nah. Let’s try to maneuver around them slowly.

IF a) is chosen:

If successful (1/3 chance) – Feeling a little brave—or perhaps a little suicidal—you and your team make a mad dash across the minefield, narrowly missing most of the erupting steam and finally making your way to safety on the other side! Still winded from your little adventure, you examine your Pokémon, only to find that they’re no worse for wear. On the contrary, they seem revitalized from the adrenaline rush, so after tending to your team and wiping a drop of sweat from your forehead, you continue on your merry way.

If unsuccessful (2/3 chance) – Feeling a little brave—or perhaps a little suicidal—you and your team make a mad dash across the minefield, narrowly missing most of the erupting steam and finally making your way to safety on the other side! However, it seems the streams of boiling water that did manage to hit your Pokémon made quite a bit of damage, burning them in the process and earning you a look of disapproval or two. Still, it could have been much worse, so after tending to your team and wiping a drop of sweat from your forehead, you continue on your way. [NOTE: Each active mon is hit by an un-STABed Scald from Rank 3 Special Attack, which automatically rolls a Burn]

IF b) is chosen:

You carefully make your way around the geysers, making it about half-way through the minefield before a column of steam erupts before you, narrowly missing [INSERT RANDOM POKEMON]! Startled and half-blind, you stumble through the geysers erupting around you and finally make your way to a safe spot! After regaining your visibility, you realize that you have inadvertently made it all the way to the other side of the field! Go you!

However, it seems that all the running and stumbling has tired your Pokémon out a fair bit. Still, it could have been much worse, so after tending to your team and wiping a drop of sweat from your forehead, you continue on your merry way. [NOTE: Deduct 10 EN from each active mon]

[Go to Hadal Springs]
You’re relieved to find that this particular section of the mountain seems to be short on caverns and tunnels, instead confronting you with… a cliff. Just as you thought you were getting to the deepest part of the volcano, you come face to face with a near-vertical wall of volcanic rock. Still, there seems to be an opening at the very top, so you reluctantly come to the conclusion that a vertical climb is in your near future. After getting some looks of exasperation from your visibly fatigued team, you begin the ascent, telling yourself that the next time you feel adventurous, you should probably go explore a Meadow instead. Preferably one that is either Enchanted or, at the very least, Wind-swept.

After a short climb, you feel your hand finally reaching the top of the wall. However, when you manage to grab the cliff’s edge, you are surprised to find that it’s not sand or rocks you feel on the other side, but water. More specifically, water from a hot spring, as you realize once you and your team make it to the top. You now stand ankle-deep in clear blue water, as a circular pool of the pristine liquid lies before you. In certain spots, the water bubbles slightly from the subterranean heat, and a light steam fills the air with a soothing warmth. On the other side of this unexpected oasis lies a stone arc, marking the entrance to yet another cavern. The arc seems to be cut into the rock itself, and there are carvings around it suggesting that this is no natural occurrence.

Near the pool you come across a Volkraken. It doesn't seem to be dangerous at first, so you try to circunvent it in order to get going without much hassle. But before you could do so, it approaches you and offer you a deal. It said to your pokemon:

"See that pool of water here? There are some tough opponents ahead of you and I might allow you to rest here after you beat them. Hell, I will even make it warmer for you.

But in return, you need to defeat me. Now. Interested?"

Does that offer interest you, O weary traveler?
a) Not at all. Steam makes me sleepy
b) Just a short rest before moving forward!

You ignore the spring altogether and press on, sprinting around the edge of the pool with your Pokémon close behind. Not too close, mind you, because they’re too exhausted to run. Oh, if only there were some place where the poor things could rest for a while…
You nod to the Volkraken and it responds, awaiting for your next move.

[Initiate Rare Encounter vs Volkraken. Arena: Hot Springs]

[Go to Guardians: Lake of Fire]
Guardian Battle – Lake of Fire

As you continue to make your way deeper into the heart of the mountain, you are relieved to find that the path doesn’t continue into yet another cavern, as you had feared. Instead, it leads you towards the edge of a great chasm, which is… not entirely reassuring. Careful not to slip yet again, you peer over the ridge, which appears to be made of black, hardened magma. You seem to be standing on the edge of a particularly nasty drop, at least forty feet in height. You reckon that you must be approaching the deepest part of the mountain, as there is a river of magma flowing at the bottom of the canyon below. Sweating both from the scorching heat and the anxiety that’s starting to grip your throat, you notice that the ridge you’re standing on stretches on to your right and forms a convenient but precarious bridge across the gorge. It seems that you must walk across if you wish to continue.

Slowly but surely, you manage to cross the chasm! Just as you set foot onto the ledge on the other side, however, the ledge is suddenly destroyed by a blast of energy! Losing your balance, you and your Pokémon plummet down into the abyss! Thankfully, you land on a lower ridge, avoiding certain death. You don’t have any time to celebrate, however, as a wild Camerupt and Gigalith close in on you! They must be the ones responsible for your little accident, and it seems they’re not content to let you walk away.

[INITIATE BATTLE VS GUARDIANS. Arena: Magma Pool]

After [defeating/capturing] the last of the hostile Pokémon, you realize you must climb back up in order to continue. A little bruised, a little burned and more than a little exhausted, you manage to pull yourself back up onto the ridge. This seems like as good a spot as any to regroup up before continuing on the path.

[IF Volkraken was defeated on the previous encounter: Go to Spring Break]
[IF The player didn't battle Volkraken: Go to Cruel Karma]
Spring Break
Brushing off your most recent near-death experience, you and your banged-up Pokémon return to the springs as planned. And as you arrived, you see the pool just begging for you to enter it. The water is warm and relaxing, and you just can't help it.

You decide to slip into the springs for a nice, comforting rest. As your Pokémon join you, looks of satisfaction spread across their faces, thankful over the unexpected moment of relaxation. You don’t have much time to enjoy yourselves, however, and so you climb out of the water rather quickly and make your way to the cave entrance ahead, confident that the stifling heat will dry your clothes on its own. At least your Pokémon are visibly well-rested, and ready to face whatever lies on the road ahead.

[REF NOTE: Add 20hp/en to all pokemon out]

[Go to Cruel Karma]
Cruel Karma
After braving the springs, you hastily move onto the next chamber in the underground cavern system. You would’ve liked to stay and examine the carvings in the stone arc, but the sudden bubbling of the water behind you lets you know that it would be best not to linger. In front of you lies a wide chamber, lined with what would appear to be stone pillars every few feet. Upon closer inspection, the columns seem to be covered in symbols of some sort, but they’re too intricate to read. Before long, however, you find yourself at the far end of the cavern, faced with a choice.

The hall you’re in takes a sharp turn downwards, leaving the path ahead out of sight. The wall ahead of you bears another inscription in the same unknown symbols; however, it seems that you are somehow able to understand its meaning. "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost." A pedestal stands conveniently in the middle of the hall, and a batch of berries lies temptingly on top—tender Pecha berries on the left, golden Sitrus berries on the right. You could take some of the berries, as they will definitely come in handy later on. However, you also get the feeling that these prizes could have been left here to test your mettle—perhaps it would be better to just move along? What will you do?

a) Take the Pecha berries (2 points)
b) Take the Sitrus berries (1 point)
c) Take all the berries (0 points)
Taking some supplies for the road ahead, you climb further down into the cave. Another wide open space lies in front of you, obscured by a dense Smog. Thinking that the smog might be caused by a wild Pokémon, you and your team hurry to the other side—only to be met by the creature responsible! As the wild Emboar charges at you, [Pokémon with the highest HP] wrestles it to the ground, giving you and your team just enough time to make it out of the chamber without major losses. It seems, however, that the Smog has poisoned your Pokémon—not to mention that [Pokémon who participated in the fight] seems considerably weaker. Remembering the berries from before, you take them from your bag and offer them to your tired Pokémon. The sweet Pecha berries cure your team’s poisoning, and the Sitrus berries replenish most of [NAME]’s lost health. [NOTE: If the player only picked one kind of berry, remove the corresponding text.]

[REF NOTE 1: If the Sitrus Berries aren't picked, deduct 40% Hp (current, not maximum) from the pokemon with the highest hp]
[REF NOTE 2: If the Pecha Berries aren't picked, inflict poison on all pokemon sent out not immune to it]

Grateful for the convenient gift, you continue moving forward. You find yourself in another hall, not as large or as ornate as the first but with the same stone pillars lining its sides. The exit from the otherwise nondescript chamber is well within reach, and you seem to have avoided the usual pitfalls. As you approach the exit, however, the floor starts to tremble! As the seismic activity picks up strength, you sprint towards the far side of the cave, just as one of the pillars cracks at the base and topples towards the only exit! You barely manage to make it through the crack in the rock before the column crumbles and blocks the way out. As you make it out of the cave, you stumble on a boulder and crash painfully onto the ground. A single Pokéball rolls lazily out of your bag, finally coming to a halt as it meets… another stone pedestal.

You come to your feet, rubbing your bruised elbow as you walk towards the pedestal. Thankfully, your Pokémon appear to be fine, although [Pokémon with the highest EN] appears to be a fair bit tired—it seems it managed to catch the falling pillar and hold it off just long enough for you to make it through, at the cost of a good chunk of its Energy. As you examine the pedestal, however, you find yet another outstanding coincidence: a batch of Leppa berries. On one hand, these seem just what you need to replenish [NAME]’s lost energy. On the other hand, perhaps it would be best to just take the dropped [Random non-Master Ball pokeball] and move along. You could take the berries and leave the Pokéball instead—an equivalent exchange of sorts?

a) Take the Pokéball (2 points)
b) Take the Leppa berries (1 point)
c) Take both the berries and the Pokéball (0 points)
You pick up the Pokéball and put it in your backpack before feeding the Leppa berries to your Pokémon. [NOTE: If the player only picked one item, remove the corresponding text.]

[REF NOTE 1: If the Leppa Berries aren't picked, deduct 40% Energy (current, not maximum) from the pokemon with highest Energy]
[REF NOTE 2: If pokeball isn't picked, remove from backpack a Random non-Master Ball pokeball. Roll amongst the individual balls the trainer has, excluding any master balls]

Continuing on your path, you come to a new fork in the road—at this point, this was to be expected. On your left, the road takes a sharp turn, preventing you from seeing too far ahead. However, you feel an intense heat coming from that side, as if the mountain’s molten core were at arm’s reach. A second path opens to your right, this one covered in gravel and jagged rocks. You can faintly hear the sound of a creature’s roar coming from the downward-sloping tunnel—or perhaps it’s just your imagination? Finally, a third path beckons straight ahead, this one oddly smooth and without any indication of impending danger. In fact, you can feel a light breeze coming from the other side, where another stone pedestal awaits! The choice might seem obvious, but which path will you take?

a) I’m feeling a little cold. Take the left path (2 points)
b) I love collecting rocks! Take the right path (1 point)
c) Are you insane? Take the center path (0 points)

Confident that a little more heat can’t hurt you at this point, you take the path to your left. The trail twists and turns in all directions, and the temperature starts to take its toll on you and your team. Suddenly, the walls of the cavern you’re in start to tremble ominously, and the cave floor begins to spout lava! Making a run for it, you dash through the cavern, weaving and winding to avoid the gushing magma and falling stalactites, until you finally reach safety through a sideways passage. After making a quick rundown of the damages, you realize that they are relatively minor; while your team is tired and weakened from being pelted with flaming debris, you managed to avoid any major injuries. However, your relatively good fortune seems to have run out, as you turn around to find yet another Pokémon standing in your way.

Thinking that another rocky tunnel can’t hurt at this point, you take the path to your right. Due to its sharp downward slope, you and your Pokémon take a few inevitable tumbles, but the trek is otherwise uneventful until you reach a wide, circular cavern. One of the sides of the room seems to be occupied by a Pokémon’s burrow; its inhabitant’s occasional snores reverberate across the chamber. Careful not to wake its denizens, you quietly make your way across the boulders that litter the field. Before you can make it all the way to the other side, a sudden noise lets you know that you have been surprised! Right as you exit the cavern, a wild Druddigon springs forth from its lair, catching your Pokémon in its Glare! With your Pokémon paralyzed but otherwise unharmed, you continue onwards, grateful over having avoided the worst of that fight. However, your relatively good fortune seems to have run out, as you turn around to find yet another Pokémon standing in your way.

Feeling that a nice, breezy path was long overdue at this point, you stroll down the middle path. Both surprised and relieved, you find the road boringly uneventful, with no sudden eruptions, cave-ins or wild Pokémon blocking your path. As the cool breeze runs through your hair, a rainbow appears in front of you and the sound of violins fills the air—could this be just a side effect of your dehydration? You brush off your worries as you reach the stone pedestal, on top of which a single Potion temptingly rests. You take the potion and stash it inside your backpack without much thought. However, your relatively good fortune seems to have run out, as you turn around to find yet another Pokémon standing in your way.

Before you, two wild, motionless Pokémon stand silent guard at either side of a stone archway. As you try to figure out what to do, you realize that they seem to be readying themselves for an attack! Before you can react, however, the two guardians fire a massive wall of flame in your direction, scattering your Pokémon! As the Heat Wave traps [two Pokémon of ref's choice], the cryptic message from before echoes in your mind: "To obtain, something of equal value must be lost." Your sacrifice has clearly been found wanting.

Not too far ahead, two cute little Pokémon stand on either side of a stone archway. As much as you'd like to stay and play with these adorable creatures, you realize that it would be wiser to move forward. As you prepare to pass through the gate, a third Pokémon suddenly cuts you off. It seems that, while you were busy with their adorable looks, the tiny Pokémon have surrounded you! Time to prove your resolve one more time.

The path in front of you continues through a stone archway and into a pitch-black cavern. However, the road is blocked by three fierce-looking Fire-type Pokémon, locked in a brutal fight. As you approach and ready yourself for combat, the trio stop their battle and turn towards you. After seemingly examining you and your team, two of the wild Pokémon retreat! The remaining one, however, stands tall in the middle of the road and shoots out a blast of fire that separates [Pokémon with the highest HP] from the rest of your team. It seems that you must make one final sacrifice in order to advance.

With the last of the fiery Pokémon [vanquished/caught], you prepare yourself to pass through the stone archway. The impenetrable darkness of the opposite chamber, as well as the scorching heat coming from the other side, suggest that this may be your last chance to replenish your strength before coming face to face with whatever is causing the mysterious seismic activity. Better make it count.

[Go to Ashes to Ashes]
Ashes to Ashes
You take a deep breath before crossing the stone archway and stepping into the darkness. It takes a few seconds for your eyes to adjust to the dark, but after they do, you are finally able to analyze your surroundings. You seem to be inside yet another cave, which is rather unsurprising. However, this particular cavern is very clearly different from any you’ve seen before. For starters, its massive size is evident even in the absence of much light; the far side of the chamber is barely visible from where you stand, and its black, stony walls stretch up onto a ceiling that lies far beyond your line of sight. The most striking feature of this cavern, however, lies underneath your feet, as you find yourself standing on a scorching platform of volcanic rock. A fiery glow is clearly visible below, as the cracks in the rock reveal the glaring yellow and scorching red of molten magma. As if the sight of the volcano’s core weren’t enough to convince you of the impending danger, the heat has grown to be unbearable; your Pokémon won’t be able to withstand a prolonged stay in this chamber, and you’re in no better shape yourself.

Suddenly, a quivering purple light catches your attention. As the beacon grows nearer, you manage to make out a spectral, trembling fire—more precisely, it is the glow of a Pokémon, and its five purple flames. An ominous feeling invades you as soon as the Pokémon turns to face you, but before you can figure out the anxiety that suddenly grips your throat, the cavern floor bursts in a fiery explosion! As you cover your eyes with your hand to shield them from the sudden flash of light, you manage to get a glimpse of the massive creature that has erupted from the magma. What catches your attention, however, is a look of malice in the eyes of the Ghost Pokémon. It seems to have taken control of the second Pokemon’s mind, and it’s clearly intent on doing the same to you and your team.

As the huge Magma Pokémon closes in on your team, the ground cracking and spewing lava with each step of its four massive legs, you realize that you have finally found the source of the mysterious volcanic activity. Or rather, it has found you.
