[SET COMMENTS]
Tinkatuff's unique typing, great utility movepool, and solid bulk make a good defensive Pokemon. acting as one of the tier's few reliable Dark-type switch-ins while removing items and spreading paralysis. However, it can be passive at times, is unable to cripple Electric-type Pokemon such as Raichu and Electrode, and is heavily reliant on Eviolite for its bulk. Tinkatuff's abilities as a Stealth Rock setter are complemented by Knock Off removing Heavy-Duty Boots of common switch-ins to it like Charizard and Pyroar, greatly hindering their longevity. Knock Off can also cripple the most common hazard removers, Dartrix and Quaxwell, both of which greatly rely on their Eviolite. Encore is used to halt setup sweepers like Gogoat, Carbink, and Masquerain, letting a teammate threaten them out. Rest can also be run to ensure that Tinkatuff is a long-term switch-in to Pokemon like Indeedee-F, Alolan Persian, and Skuntank; however, this forces Tinkatuff to remain immobile for multiple turns, compounding its issues with passivity. Pickpocket pairs well with Tinkatuff's ability to absorb Knock Off, allowing it to cripple Pokemon like Klawf, Honchkrow, Quaxwell, and opposing Tinkatuff, all of which rely on contact moves to threaten Tinkatuff. However, Mold Breaker is used for two niche applications: removing items from Sticky Hold Swalot and paralyzing a Terastallized Raichu with Thunder Wave. A specially defensive spread makes Tinkatuff a better switch-in to Pokemon like Nasty Plot Skunktank, Haunter, and Alolan Persian. However, a physically defensive spread of 252 HP/ 252 Def / 4 SpD with an Impish nature is also an option to switch into threats like Lycanroc-N and Daschbun more consistently. Tera Water allows Tinkatuff to check the various Fire- and Water-types in the tier such as Charizard, Pyroar, and Golduck more reliably; Tera Dragon does the same (RC) but trades a weakness towards Electric-types like Electrode and Raichu for one against Dragon-types like Drakloak and Flapple.
Tinkatuff struggles heavily with strong physical attackers like Basculin and Crabominable, so Pokemon that can cover for them are necessary. Mareanie is adept at switching into both of these threats as well as others that threaten Tinkatuff, like Perrserker and Falinks; in return, Tinkatuff can switch into threatening Psychic- and Electric-types like Indeedee-F and Electrode. Misdreavus is also a solid choice, switching into many annoying Ground-types like Dugtrio and Gabite while checking Fire-types like Charizard and Pyroar in a pinch. It also heavily benefits from Tinkatuff spreading paralysis, powering up its Hex. Rock- and Water-types like Carbink and Whiscash are sturdier switch-ins to the Fire-types that threaten out Tinkatuff, which it appreciates. Gabite is also a strong partner for Tinkatuff, checking strong Fire-types like Houndoom and Camerupt for Tinkatuff while appreciating Tinkatuff running Stealth Rock and removing opposing Heavy-Duty Boots with Knock Off so it can rack up chip damage on the opposing team quickly with Dragon Tail sets.
