[SET]
name: Bulky Attacker
move 1: Drain Punch
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: Mach Punch
move 4: Defog / Thunder Punch
item: Eviolite
ability: Iron Fist / Guts
nature: Adamant
evs: 196 Atk / 156 Def / 156 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
Timburr is a niche pick thanks to its great bulk and access to rare moves like Mach Punch and Defog. Mach Punch picks off dangerous threats like Porygon, Carvanha, and Tyrunt. Defog makes Timburr one of the metagame's more reliable entry hazard removers; alternatively, if removal is not needed, Thunder Punch allows Timburr to break past common checks like Mareanie. Iron Fist boosts the power of most of Timburr's attacks, while Guts allows it to absorb status and gives it a stronger matchup against threats like Frillish and Larvesta. The EV spread allows Timburr to outspeed Mareanie.
Timburr is an inferior choice to Mienfoo for most teams due to the latter's more powerful STAB move in High Jump Kick, much greater survivability, and pivot move in U-turn; however, some hyper offense teams appreciate Timburr's greater bulk and role compression with Mach Punch and Defog. Entry hazard-stacking teams featuring Dwebble and multiple wallbreakers are some examples, as are sun offense teams. Timburr can also be used together with Mienfoo in a Fighting spam core. Steel-types like Pawniard and Ferroseed are important teammates to check Psychic-types. Grookey shares checks like Natu and Poison-types with Timburr, and Grookey can work in tandem with it to break through these checks. Special attackers like Abra, Porygon, and Staryu appreciate Timburr handling Steel-types. Diglett can threaten Poison-types, especially Mareanie if Timburr is lacking Thunder Punch.

Other Options

Bulk Up with 156 Special Defense EVs turns Timburr into a dangerous wincon, but it still struggles to break through Poison-types and is almost complete deadweight against Natu. Ice Punch 2HKOes Foongus after Knock Off or minimal prior damage. Running an EV spread of 196 Atk / 236 Def / 76 Spe with an Adamant nature improves Timburr's matchup against foes like Mienfoo, and it still outspeeds Frillish and Trace Porygon.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Natu**: Natu 4x resists Timburr's STAB attacks, outspeeds it, and hits hard with Psychic. It can be worn down with Stealth Rock support and fears Knock Off and Thunder Punch, though.
**Koffing**: Koffing takes little from Timburr's attacks and can beat it one-versus-one. However, Timburr can wear it down, especially when paired with Mienfoo or Grookey.
**Mareanie**: Mareanie completely walls Timburr lacking Thunder Punch and outlasts it with Recover and Regenerator. Thunder Punch and Bulk Up sets can muscle through it, though.
**Abra**: Abra outspeeds Timburr, OHKOes it with Psychic, and can shrug off Mach Punch. It cannot safely switch in on Timburr's other attacks, however.
**Foongus**: Foongus shrugs off Timburr's Fighting-type attacks and can cripple it with Spore. However, Timburr can lure it in and then 2HKO it with Ice Punch.
