The Scariest Threats, the Biggest Non-Factors (UU Warstory)

Hello all. Not technically my first warstory, but it is my first one of such a high calibre. Hopefully you enjoy it.

However, before you continue, read the story, don't just skim it and make stupid assumptions. There is a reason behind everything that I've done in the battle, although sometimes those reasons are flimsy and worthless.

I'm a fairly experienced UU player, having about eight months of battling under my belt, but I've been playing Pokemon for far longer, ever since Blue version came out in the US. That'd be 12 years now, I think.

Anyway, this battle happened just before the May Teir Changes, when Umbreon and Frosslass (two of my key team members) were still UU. The team I'm using in this warstory nearly got me to the Leaderboard, just as the teir changes took place -_-
Now then, enough of that. Onward with the warstory.

My Team:

noCTRL's Team:

Ack! 0_o Wasn't expecting that one. I knew how popular Trick Mesprit was, but I forgot all about Trick Uxie. I'll switch in Umbreon, although I know that he's going to U-Turn out, not much can stand up to Umby without support.

Entei, huh? Probably the standard set, but I'm still unsure. Best move I can make is to Payback now and scout. If it's the standard set, he's setup fodder. If it's the SubCM set, I've got to switch out.

So, setup fodder it is. Will-O-Wisp misses, which is all the better for me, and he's taken a dent from Payback. I've also found out that his Entei isn't running Leftovers. In case you're wondering why I'm unconcerned by Will-O-Wisp, my Umbreon is running Payback, Curse, Wish, and Heal Bell. So I can take anything Entei can throw at me with severe ease and spam Curse with near impunity.

Third turn unlucky for my opponent. I'm really going to be sweeping him if that doesn't change, fast. I'd like an intresting battle, so I decide to say something about it, hoping to make my opponent either change his strategy or get lucky. It's odd, but the minute I start chatting, my opponent usually starts getting lucky.

Oh? So he's running Sunny Day. A bold move in the rain-filled UU teir, but one that could also pay off very handsomely if used properly. What? Slowbro? Why a Slowbro on a Sunny Day team with Uxie, Tangrowth, and Entei? Synergy is pretty bad there, Houndoom ruins them, utterly. Oh wait, I know why. Slowbro can learn and makes great use of Flamethrower. Flamethrower also gets pretty good neutral coverage with Psychic, hitting everything in UU but Houndoom and other Slowbro and Slowking for neutral damage. With his fast Grass types taking care of the bros and a probable Fire type counter, he's set as far as possible counters goes. Pretty clever, not to mention unexpected. However, I have one Pokemon that negates his advantages completely.

Bingo. That's why. Weather teams (excepting Hail Stall) have a common feature of being weak to Toxic and other status moves, as well as usually lacking the support of a cleric. I inculded Blastoise over any other UU Rapid Spinner because its typing and defenses are the best for abusing Toxic stalling. Now I can stall out his Slowbro with Protect and just watch until he expires. This also lets me run down the Sun's timer, meaning I can come in and sweep off his under-supported team.

+Props and Slops+

Props:

My Altaria: For being an amazing tank and destroying three of my opponent's Pokemon single-handedly, finishing a fourth, and rendering a fifth useless.

My Opponent's Entei: For doing a decent job of annoying Umbreon, killing off Froslass, and keeping the sun up when it was needed.

My Opponent: For having the guts to use several very risky moves and Pokemon, with a rather high degree of effectiveness.

My Blastoise: For breaking open my opponent's strategy with your ToxicStall techniques.

Slops:

Me: For making the screwup with Froslass. Thankfully that's all it was, otherwise I could have lost the match.

My Opponent's Uxie: For being nothing more than a mild inconvienence and a way to make the battle more enjoyable.

Hax: For showing up at the worst times for both of us and dragging this battle out for four turns longer than it should have.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the Biggest Fail of the Match Award. This warstory's award goes to...

My Umbreon and Froslass! Congratulations!

Why? Simply put, they were the biggest threats, and also the biggest non-factors in the battle. It was almost sad, considering that they were moved to OU and BL, respectively, not a week later. Don't bash me for saying this, I already know why they were moved up and I agree. I'm just saying, it's ironic.

Cheers, and I hoped you enjoyed my warstory!

He let you get all those curses and had to rely on a desperation critical hit from Tangrowth to survive that entire ordeal. This really put me off since it happened so early.

He didn't exactly let me. He was trying to phase me with Will-O-Wisp, but it kept missing. That pretty much cancels out the crit, I think.

I'd actually agree with that logic. Umbreon set up and was killed by luck. If Umbreon had simply swept and won, it would have been a hax game. If Umbreon had been instantly KO'd, it would have been a hax game. Neither happened. It evens out in the end.

Pretty good warstory, but this is the wrong section. It should be in the UU subforum.

^I'm glad to see that somebody agrees with me. Also, I didn't know that, thanks.

Could a mod please move this thread to its proper place?

You should have saved til the end to reveal your opponent's team, I thought this would be a mix-SD and TR team, which you would try to slug through. Guess not.

Great comments and decent battle. I didn't like the guys team. (I mean Marowak on a sunny day team? Why?)

Hax on Umbreon was killer.

It was more like Marowak on a team filled with paralysis support. I hated that you didn't Rapid Spin vs. the Slowbro.

People still bitch about hax in warstories? It happens in practically every battle, get over it. And EonADS is right anyways, it "evens" itself out in this match.
