Hello guys, this is a preparation thread for a Wifi tournament that will be hosted by fgtron and I. From the title of the thread, you might have guessed what kind of tournament this is - a monotype tournament! What is this? Well, it simply means that your team must use a specific type of Pokemon - hence the name, monotype. Of course, you will be allowed one "wildcard". You can learn more by reading Section 2. This tournament will be double elimination.
I cannot emphasize how important this post is. Please read all the rules. If an opponent finds that you are breaking a rule, you will be disqualified.

1.0 - Introduction
The Boring History: One day, I was chatting with fgtron on MSN. I told him that I wanted to host a tourney of my own. He asked what kind. I said I don't know, but after a while of contemplating the question, I decided a monotype tournament. fgtron liked the idea.

Situation: Currently, there are two other tournaments going on - the UU tourney and the Doubles Tourney. Because of this, we will not begin until the UU tourney has been completed. This allows members to become more "dedicated" to the tournament (should you sign up), and get your battles done on time.
2.0 - What is Monotype?
I will attempt to define a "monotype tournament" to the best of my ability:
I will attempt to define a "monotype tournament" to the best of my ability:
A monotype tournament is a tournament in which your team of Pokemon is made up of a specific type or theme. Begin by choosing a specific type you would like to use. You must use five "theme pokemon" and one "wildcard".
For example, let's say you choose the theme "Psychic". Here is an example of what your team WILL look like.
Pokemon 1 - [Psychic] or [Psychic-?]
Pokemon 2 - [Psychic] or [Psychic-?]
Pokemon 3 - [Psychic] or [Psychic-?]
Pokemon 4 - [Psychic] or [Psychic-?]
Pokemon 5 - [Psychic] or [Psychic-?]
Pokemon 6 - Wildcard (any type)
Therefore (we are still assuming the Psychic type), a team consisting of the following Pokemon would be totally acceptable:
Clarifications:Theme Pokemon:
Metagross - [Psychic-Steel]
Jirachi - [Psychic-Steel]
Uxie - [Psychic]
Celebi - [Psychic-Grass]
Claydol - [Psychic-Ground]
Wildcard:
Gallade - [Fighting-Psychic]
- Two-Typed Pokemon: You are allowed to use repetitive two-typed Pokemon of the same types. For example, notice that Jirachi and Metagross are both [Psychic-Steel].
- Wildcards: Wildcards can be of any type. In the team above, Gallade is still Psychic type. Obviously this is allowed. A common misconception is that wildcards cannot be of your theme type. Don't believe this. In short, Wildcards can be ANYTHING!
This tournament applies a series of specific rules, including the Standard rules. The most important rules, however, are the ones down there that say "Additional Rules".
LEGITIMATE HACKS ARE BANNED! NO POKESAV.
THE STANDARD
Notably, OHKO / Evasion Clauses are active.
- Standard tiers - You may use anything non-Uber.
- 6 on 6 single battle - Well, this is understandable.
- No Ubers - Ubers such as Palkia and Dialga are banned. Do not use Garchomp or Deoxys-S (fgtron note)
- Sleep Clause - No more than one opponent Pokemon asleep at one time
- OHKO Clause - No OHKO moves such as Horn Drill or Sheer Cold
- Evasion Clause - No evasion-boosting moves.
- Species Clause - No more than one species of Pokemon on a team. PORYGON2 AND PORYGON-Z ARE DIFFERENT!
- Hax Item Clause - No HAX items such as Quick Claw or Focus Band.
Read. These are very important.
- NO WEATHER! - Okay, don't shoot me. fgtron and I have discussed this and we have concluded that people will spam weather effects. As such, I am sorry to say Tyranitar, Abomasnow and Hippowdon are banned.
- Changing Teams - Allowed between rounds. You are allowed to change types between rounds!
- Discussion of Teams - Obviously disallowed.
Ah, yes - this is probably the sole reason why you would even think of entering any tournament - the prizes! Donations are welcome and will be much appreciated.
6 winners will receive prizes. As of now, we do not know what the prizes will be...yet. Please support us, though!
fgtron will be donating a Jolly Machamp (to be bred), and I will personally be donating a Naughty Nidoking (to be bred)
