The Hidden Power Experiment

What exactly is this hidden power? Hidden Power's regular description is as follows:

"The effectiveness varies with the user."

But what exactly does that mean? It means that each Pokemon has a different Hidden Power type. The type is determined by the Individual Values (IVs) of each Pokemon. Different combinations of IVs get different Hidden Powers. Also, the power of each move depends on the IVs. Higher IVs get higher powers, and therefore the attack is stronger.

Because IVs are what is used to decide the strength and type of each Pokemon's Hidden Power attack, I decided to run some tests on how Hidden Power is determined.

This is a list of some possible Hidden Power Types and Powers.

HP/Attack/Defense/Speed/Special Attack/Special Defense/Type/Power

6/6/6/6/5/5/Electric/39

6/6/6/6/6/5/Steel/49

6/6/6/6/6/6/Fighting/70

From what is seen in this set of data, there is a pattern to Hidden Power strengths and types. This is only a slight fraction of all possible combinations.

The pattern is that at 0 and 4, the Hidden Power is Fighting with a power of 30. It also shows that the Hidden Power is Fighting with a power of 70 at 2 and 6.

Further tests with this pattern showed that the Hidden Power is Fighting with a power of 30 at these numbers in all stats:

0,4,8,12,16,20,24,28

Also, the tests of the pattern show that the Hidden Power is Fighting with a power of 70 at the even numbers BETWEEN 0,4,8,12,16,20,24,and 28. Those numbers are these:

2,6,10,14,18,22,26,30.

Therefore, I can conclude that Hidden Power is decided on a pattern. However, the whole pattern is not known. There are hundreds of possible combinations that decide the Hidden Powers of each Pokemon.

BTW if you're gonna do something like this, it needs mention of:

0/1/0/0/0/0 which is not the same as 1/0/0/0/0/0 or 0/0/1/0/0/0 etc.

Besides, you'll only ever need 30/31 unless you're setting Att to lower confusion damage or something (2 or 3 is minimum to get 70 damage).

The method for working out Hidden Power has been calculated a long time ago. I would find a link if I could be bothered.

I know that I didnt mention everything. I wrote that I didn't. I would need a lot more time than I have to try that, but I probably could.

Also, something like 0/1/0/0/0/0 is the exact same outcome as 1/0/0/0/0/0.
