Draft Sneasler

Status
Not open for further replies.
[overview]
**Draft order**: Round 2 onwards

**Price range**: 17-18 points

**Overview**: With strong STAB moves, an amazing Speed tier, and access to two incredible abilities in Unburden and Poison Touch, Sneasler is one of the most terrifying Pokemon in Draft. Its abilities as a setup sweeper and cleaner are not to be underestimated, and its utility as an offensive pivot will put any trainer on their toes. Though its typing can leave Sneasler struggling against Poison- and Ghost-types, with good use of its power and coverage, Sneasler will put foes in a situation most dire!

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Setup sweeper**: After a Swords Dance, Sneasler can sweep entire teams with little effort, and after Unburden is activated, it's nearly impossible to outspeed. With its naturally high Attack and Speed stats, Sneasler has a myriad of ways to gain the turn of setup necessary to end games then and there.

**Late-game cleaner**: All of the strengths that make Sneasler such a great sweeper also allow it to be a great cleaner. Once Sneasler’s checks have been weakened, its strong STAB moves and unbeatable Speed can make light work of a team with no setup required.

**Offensive pivot**: With Poison Touch and great offensive stats, Sneasler functions as a reliable fast pivot and status spreader. Its strong yet manageable typing is perfect for luring in physically bulky foes, particularly Poison-types, and using U-turn to pivot out for momentum.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: Dire Claw, Gunk Shot, Close Combat, Low Kick

**Setup moves**: Swords Dance, Bulk Up, Hone Claws, Agility

**Utility moves**: Brick Break, Fake Out, Taunt, Toxic, Toxic Spikes, Substitute, Switcheroo, U-turn

**Coverage**: Acrobatics, Fire Punch, Lash Out, Rock Slide, Shadow Claw, Throat Chop, X-Scissor

Niche Moves
========
**Fling**: Make sure to have a one-liner prepared when hitting those bulky Ghost-types with a 130 Base Power Big Nugget and activating Unburden on the same turn.

**Dig**: Combined with a Power Herb, Dig allows Sneasler to take out Poison-types that otherwise soak up its STAB moves while activating Unburden.

**Endure/Reversal**: When activated by Endure, Reversal Sneasler is a terrifying force against teams lacking priority moves.

**Upper Hand**: Sneasler’s subpar physical bulk makes it susceptible to getting picked off by priority moves. As such, Upper Hand can be a viable option that stops those priority attacks altogether.

Common Items
========
**Terrain Seed**: When paired with Terrain support, Sneasler can activate Unburden and gain a boost to its defenses as soon as it hits the field.

**Choice Band/Choice Scarf**: The raw power and speed given by Choice items is generally preferred when running a Poison Touch set, making Sneasler much more immediately threatening. When combined with Switcheroo, a Choice item can be used to cripple defensive would-be checks like Toxapex as well!

**Air Balloon**: With Air Balloon, Sneasler can set up on Ground-types more freely. It can also sometimes be used aggressively by switching Sneasler in on a weak or resisted attack to pop the Air Balloon and instantly begin a sweep.

Niche Items
========
**White Herb**: After using Close Combat, White Herb removes Sneasler's stat drops while activating Unburden.

**Protective Pads**: Gunk Shot is the only one of Sneasler’s STAB moves that doesn’t make contact, while the others leave it at the mercy of adverse contact effects like Static and Rough Skin. With Protective Pads, however, this weakness can be removed.

**Normal Gem**: Normal Gem, in conjunction with Fake Out, allows for an instantaneous Unburden boost when facing frailer or weakened teams.

**Heavy-Duty Boots**: Poison Touch Sneasler sets can be quite vulnerable to chip damage from Spikes. Heavy-Duty Boots is a valuable item to have when Spikes stacking may be a problem.

Tera
========
Sneasler is Tera-banned in most drafts, but if allowed, it makes for a fantastic Tera Captain. Terastallization lets Sneasler blow past its usual checks and set up on its usual counters. Though Tera Dark, Fighting, Ground, and Ghost are commonly run, Tera Flying is of particular note, shedding Sneasler’s Ground weakness and giving it access to STAB Acrobatics.

Draft Strategy
========
Sneasler is very strong on its own, but unless it's allowed to Terastallize, it should be picked second after a more reliable round 1 pick. Its abilities as a sweeper and pivot force the opponent to prepare for it defensively, which first picks that complement its typing like Garchomp and Darkrai can easily exploit.

**Entry hazard support**: Not only do Spikes and Stealth Rock make Unburden sweeps easier to perform, but they also heavily punish Sneasler’s checks when dealing with Poison Touch. Among hazard setters, Ting-Lu is an especially good partner, as it threatens the Poison- and Ghost-types Sneasler struggles against.

**Slow pivots**: Though Sneasler can be unstoppable once it gets going, it can be difficult for it to switch in due to its middling bulk and common weaknesses. A bulky, slow pivot like Slowking or Corviknight can let it switch in safely.

**Wallbreakers**: Sneasler’s ability to lure in physically defensive foes makes other wallbreakers, especially special wallbreakers like Chi-Yu or Latios, excellent teammates. Alternatively, when going for a sweep, those wallbreakers can force in Sneasler’s checks early and wear them down.

**Knock Off**: With Covert Cloak and Rocky Helmet spelling trouble for any Sneasler set, it should come as no surprise that it greatly appreciates item removal. Any consistent Knock Off user can go a long way in helping Sneasler fulfill its roles unpunished.

**Terrain support**: Sneasler’s synergy with Terrain is hard to deny. The ability to run a Terrain Seed for an instant activation of Unburden makes sweeping more reliable, and no Sneasler set would pass up Grassy Terrain lessening damage from Earthquake and chip damage or Psychic Terrain removing any worries of priority moves. To get more bang for your Sneasler-buck, think about drafting a Terrain setter like Rillaboom or Indeedee alongside it.

Checks and Counters
========
**Bulky Poison- and Ghost-types**: Sneasler’s Poison- and Fighting-type STAB moves are resisted by both these types, and Poison-types are completely unaffected by Poison Touch. Though Sneasler has coverage to deal with many of its checks, Pokemon like Pecharunt and Gholdengo heavily restrict what it can do in a match.

**Phazing**: Unburden only activates once, so if Sneasler gets phazed mid-sweep, it’s not getting another Speed boost. Forcing Sneasler out with Yawn, Dragon Tail, Red Card, and the like makes it much easier to take care of.

**Priority**: Sneasler’s unimpressive bulk leaves it susceptible to being revenge killed by strong priority attackers such as Palafin, Raging Bolt, and Scizor.

**Covert Cloak and Rocky Helmet**: The best way to deal with Dire Claw and Poison Touch is to deny their effects: Covert Cloak allows Pokemon like Skeledirge to switch in without fear of status, while Rocky Helmet lets Poison-immune checks like Corviknight punish all else, as most of Sneasler's moves make contact.

[overview]
**Draft order**: Round 2 onwards

**Price range**: 17-18

**Overview**: Don’t let Sneasler’s goofy looks deceive you: sneasler is very obviously strong, this doesn't make sense for an analysis with strong STAB moves, an amazing speed tier, and access to the incredible abilities of in Unburden and Poison Touch, it's one of the most terrifying Pokemon in the Draft format. Its abilities as a setup sweeper and cleaner are not to be underestimated, and its utility as an offensive pivot and wallbreaker will catch many a trainer by surprise while also having great utility as an offensive pivot. Though Sneasler’s typing leaves it susceptible to being checked and chipped down how? by what? briefly mention what holds sneasler back, on a team that can alleviate these problems obvious info, Sneasler will put your opponents in a situation most dire!

Common Roles
========
**Setup sweeper**: After a Swords Dance, Sneasler can sweep entire teams with little effort, and after an Unburden, it's nearly impossible to outspeed. These factors make it a very strong sweeper that can end games when positioned well! second sentence is fluff and feels off in tone from what we're looking for

**Late-game cleaner**: All of the strengths that make Sneasler such a great sweeper also allow it to be a great cleaner as well. Once Sneasler’s checks have been weakened, its strong STABs and unbeatable speed can make light work of a team without much setup. be more clear as to what separates these two roles, sounds like you're phrasing the same idea in two different ways right now

**Offensive pivot**: Though usually overshadowed by Unburden in Draft if this set is overshadowed why are you telling me about it? can say something to the effect of it having less game-ending potential but this set is still good, Poison Touch and great offenses Attack and Speed let Sneasler function as a reliable fast pivot and status spreader! no need to shout Its strong yet manageable typing is perfect to lure in particular checks tell me what you're u-turning on and U-Turn on them for momentum.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: Dire Claw, Gunk Shot, Poison Jab not using this over dire claw, Close Combat, Low Kick, Brick Break move to utility

**Setup moves**: Swords Dance, Bulk Up, Hone Claws, Agility, Substitute move to utility if you mention sub at all

**Utility moves**: Fake Out, Taunt, Toxic, Toxic Spikes, Switcheroo, U-Turn, Brick Break

**Coverage**: Acrobatics, Facade, Fire Punch, Lash Out, Rock Slide, Shadow Claw, Take Down, Throat Chop, X-Scissor

Niche Moves
========
**Fling**: Ghost types normally wall Sneasler, but the Big Nugget will be on their face as you deal massive Dark-type damage and activate Unburden on the same turn! phrase this more like the Dig line

**Dig**: Combined with a Power Herb, Dig allows Sneasler to take out Poison types that otherwise soak up its STABs while activating Unburden.

**Endure/Reversal**: Though tricky to pull off, When activated by Endure, Reversal Sneasler is an unstoppable strong force against teams lacking priority! In unrelated news, Hitmonlee is now homeless. complete fluff lines like these are unneeded in analyses

**Upper Hand**: Sneasler’s lower physical bulk makes it susceptible to getting picked off with priority. As such, Upper Hand can be a viable option in making those strong priority attackers think twice. to stop opposing priority attacks.

Common Items
========
**Terrain Seed**: To anyone who’s played ladder during the brief time Sneasler was legal, this should come as no surprise. other/past formats are irrelevant info in analyses When paired with terrain, with a seed in claw, Sneasler can proc activate Unburden and gain a boost to its defenses as soon as it hits the field.

**White Herb**: The idea here is pretty simple: Sneasler clicks Close Combat, its defenses lower, White Herb brings those stats back to normal, Unburden procs. This is a very effective way of getting Unburden ready on your terms! After using Close Combat, White Herb can get rid of Sneasler's defense drops while activating Unburden.

**Choice Band/Choice Scarf**: The raw power and speed given by choice items is generally preferred when running a Poison Touch set, making Sneasler much more immediately threatening. When combined with Switcheroo, a choice item can be used to cripple their its would-be checks like? as well!

**Air Balloon**: With Air Balloon, Sneasler can set up Ground types more freely, and while situational, it can be used aggressively: switching Sneasler in on a weak or resisted attack to pop the balloon and instantly begin a sweep.

**Normal Gem**: White Herbs and Grassy Seeds are great and all, but really, is that your best effort? Normal Gem in conjunction with Fake Out allows for a frame-one Sneasler to immediately activate Unburden when fighting frailer teams. move to niche

Niche Items
========
**Resistance Berry**: Similar to Air Balloon, resist berries help Sneasler set up against types Pokemon that would normally force it out, but without having to worry about the opponent setting it off prematurely. Coba and Shuca are particularly useful in resisting Flying and Ground respectively, as even with a resist berry, Sneasler is still weak to Psychic!

**Black Sludge/Heavy-Duty Boots**: Without any recovery besides Rest, why would sneasler even run recovery? Poison Touch Sneasler sets are very weak to being worn down! vulnerable to Spikes damage. Black Sludge helps these sets recover from chip damage, and Heavy-Duty Boots is preferred when you’re worried about spike stacking. honestly i'd just mention boots, you're never getting enough value out of black sludge

Tera
========
Sneasler is tera banned in most drafts you’ll find, and for good reason. If you find yourself in a league where it can tera, well, what are you waiting for?! However, if allowed to Terastallize, Sneasler is a fantastic Tera Captain. Terastalization lets Sneasler blow past its usual checks and set up on its usual counters. Though Tera Dark, Fighting, Normal Ground, and Ghost are commonly run, Tera Flying is of particular note, shedding Sneasler’s Ground weakness and giving it access to an ungodly strong STAB Acrobatics!.

Draft Strategy
========
Sneasler is very strong on its own, but unless it's allowed to tera, it should be picked second after a more reliable top tier round 1 pick. Its abilities as a sweeper and pivot force prep on the opponent that many first picks can easily take advantage of! like what? this is too vague and i don't really know what your point is

**Strong round 1 teammate**: A strong teammate allows Sneasler to utilize all its abilities to the fullest! Hard-hitting mons such as Darkrai and Garchomp that complement Sneasler’s typing benefit from Sneasler pressuring their difficult matchups and forcing in defensive mons for them to exploit. duh, everything benefits from strong teammates. what is it about these pokemon specifically that works well with sneasler?

**Hazard support**: Not only do Spikes and Stealth Rock make Unburden sweeps even easier to perform, but they also heavily punish Sneasler’s usual checks when dealing with Poison Touch.

**Slow pivots**: Though Sneasler can be unstoppable once it gets going, it can be difficult for them it to switch in due to its middling bulk and common weaknesses. A slow pivot can let them it get in unscathed, and thus, harder to revenge! enter the field safely.

**Wallbreakers**: Sneasler’s ability to lure in physically defensive mons makes other wallbreakers, especially special wallbreakers, excellent teammates. Alternatively, when going for a sweep, those wallbreakers can force in Sneasler’s checks early and wear them down.

Checks and Counters
========
**Bulky Poison and Ghost types**: Sneasler’s Poison/Fighting STAB is resisted by both these types, and Poison types in particular are completely unaffected by Poison Touch. Though Sneasler has coverage to deal with many of its checks, a good bulky Poison or Ghost can heavily restrict what it can do in a match.

**Phazing**: When facing a sweeper set, remember that Unburden only activates once! dex info, rephrase to say that because unburden only activates once, forcing it out limits its sweeping capabilities Forcing Sneasler out with Yawn, Dragon Tail, Red Card, and the like makes them it much easier to take care of.

**Priority**: Nothing outspeeds Sneasler after an Unburden boost, but you don’t need speed to go first. Sneasler’s unimpressive 80/60/80 bulk makes them susceptible to being revenge killed by strong priority attackers such as Palafin, Raging Bolt, and Scizor. Sneasler’s also easily forced out by Pranksters: priority Encore, Trick, Will-O-Wisp, and Thunder Wave can make any Sneasler set easy pickings. is this really significant enough to be mentioning?

for every teammate and check line: name some examples for all of these points

going to want to see this implemented before giving a qc check, content is ok but formatting and tone is very different from what we're looking for. reference some of the uploaded analyses for the type of writing we're looking for.

Ok, I feel like I need to be more clear as to what I'm looking for. After two passes, there is still missing information relevant to Sneasler as a Pokemon, and your writing stylistically is very different from what we are wanting from analyses. Additionally, in general, your analysis oversells Unburden and downplays the effectiveness of Poison Touch sets, which should be addressed throughout the whole thing. You need to implement every change as I have written them in my QC check. Please reference uploaded analyses for the type of tone we are going for as well.

While this guide is intended for GP checks, it still applies for how to implement QC checks: https://www.smogon.com/forums/threa...new-writers-please-read.3588923/#post-7122054. Please follow this guide to make sure you have implemented all of my changes. Once I am satisfied with the changes to the analysis, I will give the QC check.

**Priority**: Nothing outspeeds Sneasler after an Unburden boost, but speed isn't required to go first. Sneasler’s unimpressive 80/60/80 bulk makes them it susceptible to being revenge killed by strong priority attackers such as Palafin, Raging Bolt, and Scizor.

mention Covert Cloak, stopping Poison Touch and Dire Claw status drastically reduces pivot Sneasler's effectiveness

Hey, I've updated it once more, view it when you get the chance!

[overview]
**Draft order**: Round 2 onwards

**Price range**: 17-18 points

**Overview**: With strong STAB moves, an amazing speed tier, and access to two incredible abilities in Unburden and Poison Touch, Sneasler is one of the most terrifying Pokemon in the Draft format. Its abilities as a setup sweeper and cleaner are not to be underestimated, and its utility as an offensive pivot will put any trainer on their toes. Though Poison/Fighting typing can leave Sneasler struggling against Poison and Ghost types, with good use of its power and coverage, Sneasler will put your opponents in a situation most dire!

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Setup sweeper**: After a Swords Dance, Sneasler can sweep entire teams with little effort, and after an Unburden, it's nearly impossible to outspeed. With its naturally high attack and speed stats, Sneasler has a myriad of ways to gain the turn of setup necessary to end games then and there.

**Late-game cleaner**: All of the strengths that make Sneasler such a great sweeper also allow it to be a great cleaner as well. Once Sneasler’s checks have been weakened, its strong STABs and unbeatable speed can make light work of a team with no setup required.

**Offensive pivot**: With Poison Touch and great offensive stats, Sneasler functions as a reliable fast pivot and status spreader. Its strong yet manageable typing is perfect for luring in physically bulky mons, particularly Poison types, and U-Turning on them for momentum.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: Dire Claw, Gunk Shot, Close Combat, Low Kick

**Setup moves**: Swords Dance, Bulk Up, Hone Claws, Agility

**Utility moves**: Brick Break, Fake Out, Taunt, Toxic, Toxic Spikes, Substitute, Switcheroo, U-Turn

**Coverage**: Acrobatics, Fire Punch, Lash Out, Rock Slide, Shadow Claw, Throat Chop, X-Scissor

Niche Moves
========
**Fling**: Make sure to have a one-liner prepared when hitting those bulky Ghost types with a 130 BP Big Nugget and activating Unburden on the same turn. (i told you this on discord but if gp tells you to change this you have to change it)

**Dig**: Combined with a Power Herb, Dig allows Sneasler to take out Poison types that otherwise soak up its STABs while activating Unburden.

**Endure/Reversal**: When activated by Endure, Reversal Sneasler is a terrifying force against teams lacking priority!

**Upper Hand**: Sneasler’s lower physical bulk makes it susceptible to getting picked off with priority. As such, Upper Hand can be a viable option in stopping those priority attacks altogether.

Common Items
========

**Air Balloon**: With Air Balloon, Sneasler can set up Ground types more freely, and can sometimes be used aggressively; switching Sneasler in on a weak or resisted attack to pop the balloon and instantly begin a sweep.

Niche Items
========
**White Herb**: After using Close Combat, White Herb removes Sneasler's defense drops while activating Unburden.

**Protective Pads**: Gunk Shot is the only one of Sneasler’s STAB moves that doesn’t make contact, leaving it at the mercy of adverse contact effects like Static and Rough Skin. With Protective Pads, however, this weakness can be removed.

**Normal Gem**: Normal Gem in conjunction with Fake Out allows for an instantaneous Unburden boost when fighting frailer or weakened teams.

**Resistance Berries**: Similar to Air Balloon, resist berries help Sneasler set up against types that would normally force it out, but without having to worry about the opponent setting it off prematurely. Coba and Shuca are particularly useful in resisting Flying and Ground respectively. (cant say ive ever seen sneasler use resist berries)

**Heavy-Duty Boots**: Poison Touch Sneasler sets can be quite vulnerable to chip damage from Spikes. Heavy-Duty Boots are a valuable item to have when spike-stacking may be a problem.

Tera
========
Sneasler is tera banned in most drafts, but if allowed, it makes for a fantastic Tera Captain. Terastalization lets Sneasler blow past its usual checks and set up on its usual counters. Though Dark, Fighting, Ground, and Ghost are commonly run, Tera Flying is of particular note, shedding Sneasler’s Ground weakness and giving it access to STAB Acrobatics.

Draft Strategy
========
Sneasler is very strong on its own, but unless it's allowed to tera, it should be picked second after a more reliable round 1 pick. Its abilities as a sweeper and pivot force defensive prep on the opponent, prep that first picks which complement its typing like Garchomp and Darkrai can easily exploit!

**Hazard support**: Not only do Spikes and Stealth Rock make Unburden sweeps easier to perform, but they also heavily punish Sneasler’s checks when dealing with Poison Touch. Of the hazards stackers, Ting-Lu is an especially good partner, as it threatens the Poison and Ghost types Sneasler struggles against.

**Slow pivots**: Though Sneasler can be unstoppable once it gets going, it can be difficult for it to switch in due to its middling bulk and common weaknesses. A bulky slow pivot like Slowking or Corviknight can let it switch in safely.

**Wallbreakers**: Sneasler’s ability to lure in physically defensive mons makes other wallbreakers, especially special wallbreakers like Chi-Yu or Latios, excellent teammates.

Any consistent Knock Off user, from Swampert to Scrafty, can go a long way in helping Sneasler fulfill its roles unpunished.

**Terrain support**: Sneasler’s synergy with terrain is hard to deny. The ability to run a seed for an instant Unburden makes sweeping that much more reliable, and no Sneasler set would pass up Grassy Terrain lessening its weakness to Ground and chip damage, or Psychic Terrain removing any worries of priority. To get more bang for your Sneasler-buck, think about drafting a setter like Rillaboom or Indeedee alongside it.

Checks and Counters
========
**Bulky Poison and Ghost types**: Sneasler’s Poison/Fighting STAB is resisted by both these types, and Poison types are completely unaffected by Poison Touch.

**Priority**: Sneasler’s unimpressive 80/60/80 bulk leaves it susceptible to being revenge killed by strong priority attackers such as Palafin, Raging Bolt, and Scizor.

**Entry hazard support**: Not only do Spikes and Stealth Rock make Unburden sweeps easier to perform, but they also heavily punish Sneasler’s checks when dealing with Poison Touch. Of the hazard stackers Among hazard setters, Ting-Lu is an especially good partner, as it threatens the Poison- (AH) and Ghost-types (AH) Sneasler struggles against.

**Slow pivots**: Though Sneasler can be unstoppable once it gets going, it can be difficult for it to switch in due to its middling bulk and common weaknesses. A bulky, (AC) slow pivot like Slowking or Corviknight can let it switch in safely.

**Wallbreakers**: Sneasler’s ability to lure in physically defensive mons foes makes other wallbreakers, especially special wallbreakers like Chi-Yu or Latios, excellent teammates.

Any consistent Knock Off user, from Swampert to Scrafty, (RC) can go a long way in helping Sneasler fulfill its roles unpunished.

**Terrain support**: Sneasler’s synergy with Terrain is hard to deny. The ability to run a seed Terrain Seed for an instant activation of Unburden makes sweeping that much more reliable, and no Sneasler set would pass up Grassy Terrain lessening its weakness to Ground damage from Earthquake @ me on discord if you'd like to discuss this, as it does not weaken all Ground-type moves and chip damage (rc) or Psychic Terrain removing any worries of priority moves. To get more bang for your Sneasler-buck, think about drafting a Terrain setter like Rillaboom or Indeedee alongside it.

Checks and Counters
========
**Bulky Poison- (AH) and Ghost-types (AH)**: Sneasler’s Poison- and Fighting-type STAB moves is are resisted by both these types, and Poison-types (AH) are completely unaffected by Poison Touch.

**Priority**: Sneasler’s unimpressive 80/60/80 bulk leaves it susceptible to being revenge killed by strong priority attackers such as Palafin, Raging Bolt, and Scizor.

  • You missed a few hyphens for [type]-type but also caught most of them I believe
  • Few moves are allowed to be used as verbs, so keep that in mind
  • Overall, Few subjective changes and I don't have more than a few other minor things (good job! :toast:)
Appreciate it!
