Simisear [QC 1/3]

[OVERVIEW]

  • Good speed tier of 101
  • Access to Nasty Plot, allowing it to break through most things slower than it
  • Wide coverage allows Simisear to handle its so-called checks with the right move
  • Decent special attack stat, further bolstering its breaking power
  • Frail, can have a hard time finding setup opportunities
  • Lack of recovery and a weakness to Stealth Rocks do not help either
  • Can be revenge killed by faster Pokemon like Scyther and Scarfed pokemon.
[SET]
name: Nasty Plot
move 1: Fire Blast
move 2: Grass Knot
move 3: Focus Blast / Hidden Power Ice
move 4: Nasty Plot
item: Firium Z / Grassium Z
ability: Blaze
nature: Timid
evs: 252 Spa / 252 Spe / 4 Spd

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
  • Nasty Plot gives Simisear a +2 special attack boost, allowing it to break very effectively.
  • Grass Knot allows Simisear to take on bulky mons that can take its STAB, like Regirock, Quagsire, and Mudsdale. It can also be upgraded to Bloom Doom with the Grassium Z, allowing it to break through bulky water types like Lanturn, which would still be able to take a hit from Simisear and faint it back.
  • Focus Blast hits bulky Normals like Type Null and Munchlax. It also hits Drampa, which otherwise can switch in easily on it.
  • Hidden Power Ice mainly targets Dragon types like Silvally-Dragon, Altaria, and Drampa: The latter two which had walls Simisear.

Set Details
  • Max investment in Speed allows Simisear to fully utilize its Speed tier and outspeed all unboosted pokemon under base 100 Speed.
  • Max investment in Special Attack allows Simisear to hard as hard as it can with its attacks and Break effectively.
  • Firium Z can be used as a powerful nuke that doesn't need to worry about accuracy, while Grassium Z can be used to beat bulkier or lighter Water types like Lanturn.
  • Blaze is used because it is Simisear's only option if it isn't holding a berry, but can also allow Simisear to do devastating amounts of damage with its STAB at low health.
  • Timid nature is used to maximize Simisear's Speed to make sweeping easier.

Usage Tips
========

  • If going for a sweep, Simisear is best used in the late-game when its checks and counters are weakened or taken out.
  • Simisear switches in on weak, resisted attacks, or through a slow U-Turn or Volt Switch.
  • If not aiming to sweep, Simisear can be used early in the game to break certain walls
Team Options
========
  • Simisear greatly appreciates hazard support from Pokemon like Froslass, Qwilfish, and even Roselia to wear down its checks.
  • Hazard control from pokemon like Skuntank, Silvally-Fairy or Dragon, or Alolan Sandslash is just as important, as Simisear gets worn down very easily by hazards like Spikes and Stealth Rock.
  • Pokemon like Lanturn can handle bulky Waters and provide Simisear with a slow Volt Switch.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Life Orb can be used for more immediate and effective breaking power, But this can wear it down very quickly, leaving it vulnerable to priority.
  • Fightinium Z can help Simisear beat incredibly bulky Normal types like Type: Null and Munchlax, but doesn't really hit anything else.
  • Taunt could replace a coverage move to ease setup as well as allow it to be even better against stall, but will leave it walled by threats like Jellicent or Dragon types like Altaria, Silvally-Dragon, and Drampa
Checks and Counters
===================

Faster Pokemon: Choiced Scarfed users such as Togedemaru and Primape as well as naturally faster Pokemon like Lycanroc and Scyther can immediatly end Simisear's sweep with minimal to no chip damage.
Priority: Strong priority like Skuntank's Sucker Punch, Floatzel's Aqua Jet, and Hitmonchan's Mach Punch can all finish off Simisear because of its undesirable bulk. Kangaskhan, in particular, is an issue because of the combination of Fake Out and Sucker Punch is deadly and can make a sweep impossible.
Special Walls: Specially bulky pokemon like Type: Null and Lanturn can easily wall Simisear if it does not have the correct Z-Crystal to beat them.
Assault Vest users such as Kecleon and Hitmonchan can also tank even a boosted move and retaliate with Drain Punch.

You should probably emphasize somewhere here that it has the potential to break balance cores, as cores like Roselia + Jellicent + Mudsdale get torn apart by a well-played Simisear.

Moves
  • Fire Blast is Simisear's go-to STAB move: its power is preferred to Flamethrower, despite the accuracy. It can be upgraded to Inferno Overdrive with the Firium Z, allowing it to slaughter most neutral opponents (obvious info, you get the idea.)
  • Nasty Plot gives Simisear a +2 special attack boost, allowing it to break very effectively.
  • Grass Knot allows Simisear to take on bulky mons that can take its STAB, like Regirock and Mudsdale. It can also be upgraded to Bloom Doom with the Grassium Z, allowing it to break through bulky water types like Lanturn and Jellicent, with would still be able to take a hit from Simisear and faint it back. (+2 gknot almost always OHKOes defensive jelli without needing to use grassium z.) (mention quagsire here.)
  • Focus Blast hits bulky Normals like Type Null and Munchlax. It also hits Drampa, which otherwise can switch in easily on it.
  • Hidden Power Ice mainly targets Dragon types like Silvally-Dragon, Altaria, (mention altaria first and foremost, silv-dragon is less common and basically takes the same amount of damage from focus blast.) and Drampa: The latter two which had walls Simisear.
(mention poliwrath as well, max hp sets aren't OHKOed by +2 gknot.)
  • Blaze is used because it is Simisear's only option if it isn't holding a berry, but can also allow Simisear to do devastating amounts of damage with its STAB at low health.
  • Timid nature is used to maximize Simisear's Speed to make sweeping easier.
Usage Tips
========
  • If going for a sweep, Simisear is best used in the late-game when its checks and counters are weakened or taken out.
  • Simisear switches in on weak, resisted attacks, or through a slow U-Turn or Volt Switch. (give an example of a weak, resisted attack bc i've found that it struggles to come in reliably even on certain resisted attacks.) (put pivoting moves first, they're much safer.)
  • If not aiming to sweep, Simisear can be used early in the game to break certain walls
This section is more barren than it should be, especially considering that it can be an awkward Pokemon to use at times. Add points about trying to get it in more often against slower teams, simply attacking against more offensive teams rather than setting up, what to use Nasty Plot against (important one here), and keeping hazards away.

Team Options
========
  • Simisear greatly appreciates hazard support from Pokemon like Froslass, Qwilfish, and even Roselia to wear down its checks. (i mean, true, but what setup sweeper / wallbreaker doesn't appreciate having entry hazards up?)
A few more pivots should be listed besides just Lanturn and Silvally. You could also mention wallbreakers, since you say that it's best used as a late-game sweeper. Generally bulky Pokemon to fall back on against revenge killers like Dodrio should also have a mention.

Add Salac Berry + Blaze and Substitute and Pinch Berry + Gluttony.

Special Walls: Specially bulky pokemon like Type: Null and Lanturn can easily wall Simisear if it does not have the correct Z-Crystal to beat them. (altaria should be here even if it isn't the most common atm, it can wall you if you lack hp ice.)
Assault Vest users such as Kecleon and Hitmonchan can also tank even a boosted move and retaliate with Drain Punch. (both of these examples get bopped by +2 inferno overdrive, include that.)

Your formatting and spacing are off at certain points, so be sure to fix that too. Other than that, 1/3.

This is, sadly, pretty abysmal in terms of content. When Set Details is the biggest section of an analysis, something definitely has gone wrong. I understand that people sometimes use short-hand for stuff but the content here basically doesn't exist. If this doesn't get fixed, I'm afraid I'm going to have to QC reject this.

I recommend reading this if you want some help.

Cosigning this and officially QC rejecting.

Along with what the above post mentions, my check was already big enough to where it felt like I was hand-holding you, but then you didn't implement, like, 75-80% of the comments I made. I'd understand if you had an issue with something I said and wanted to contact me about it or whatever, but flat-out ignoring as much of the check as you did is unacceptable.
