Shiinotic is a great physical wall in the ZU metagame with fantastic support moves in Spore and Strength Sap. Spore allows it to cripple common switch-ins such as Silvally-Ice, Klang, and Lampent, while Strength Sap is able to weaken and gain significant recovery from physical attackers such as offensive Gourgeist-L, Machoke, and Persian. Leech Seed can be used as an alternative to Giga Drain for passive recovery and chipping down Pokemon such as Klang and Dusclops, but Giga Drain is generally preferred because it allows Shiinotic to more effectively check Pokemon such as Palpitoad and Hippopotas. Toxic is able to punish bulky Grass-types that try to switch into Spore such as Gourgeist-L, Bellossom, and Trevenant, while Thunder Wave is Shiinotic's only way to punish Ivysaur and Gloom and cripples fast offensive Pokemon such as Galarian Mr. Mime, Stonjourner, and Silvally-Ice. The combination of Rocky Helmet and Effect Spore punishes Fake Out, U-turn, and Knock Off users such as Pikachu, Persian, and Galarian Linoone with chip damage and the potential for crippling status. Opting for no item allows Shiinotic to wall and switch into Poltergeist users such as Choice Band Gourgeist-L and Trevenant.

Shiinotic is great on balance teams that appreciate its ability to check physical attackers and spread status. Special wallbreakers such as Beheeyem, Galarian Mr. Mime, and Gastly threaten Shiinotic out, so special walls such as Klang, Dusclops, and Vespiquen are great teammates. Ivysaur and Gloom completely shut down Shiinotic, so offensive checks such as Beheeyem, Hakamo-o, and Galarian Mr. Mime help Shiinotic get around those threats. Physical attackers like Silvally-Ice, Stonjourner, and Beartic are able to break Shiinotic if it is chipped, so switch-ins such as Palpitoad and Machoke are appreciated. Setup sweepers such as Swords Dance Silvally-Ice, Wartortle, and Nasty Plot Raichu are good teammates, since they appreciate the setup opportunities that Shiinotic provides by crippling their answers with status.

Shiinotic is a great physical wall in the ZU metagame with fantastic defensive options support moves in Spore and Strength Sap. Spore allows it to cripple common switch-ins such as Silvally-Ice, Klang, and Fraxure (Fraxure doesn't switch in, mention G-Mime or Lampent), and Strength Sap is able to weaken and gain significant recovery from physical attackers such as offensive Gourgeist-L, Machoke, and Persian. Leech Seed can be used as an alternative to Giga Drain for passive recovery and chipping down Pokemon such as Klang and Dusclops. The combination of Rocky Helmet and Effect Spore punishes Fake Out, U-turn, (worth mentioning here) and Knock Off users such as Pikachu, Persian, and Galarian Linoone with chip damage and the potential of crippling status. Opting for no item allows Shiinotic to wall and switch into Choice Band Gourgeist-L and Trevenant. Mention targets for Toxic and Thunder Wave here, especially on how Twave is the only way Shiinotic can cripple Ivysaur.

Shiinotic is great on balanced teams that appreciate its ability to wall check physical attackers and spread status. Special wallbreakers such as Beheeyem, Galarian Mr. Mime, and Gastly threaten Shiinotic out, so special walls such as Klang, Dusclops, and Vespiquen are great teammates. Add a line here on how Gloom and Ivysaur completely shut down Shiinotic and good ways of pressuring those two. Physical attackers like Silvally-Ice, Stonjourner, and Beartic are able to break Shiinotic if chipped, so switch-ins such as Palpitoad and Machoke are appreciated. Putting opposing Pokemon to sleep with Spore gives the opportunity for sweepers such as Swords Dance Silvally-Ice, Wartortle, and Bellossom to freely set-up and break holes in the opposing team (Reword this last sentence, say that setup sweepers such as.... are good teammates since they appreciate the setup opportunities that Shin provides by crippling their answers with status).
