Scovillain

Scovillain
Type:
Grass/Fire
Base Stats: 65 / 108 / 65 / 108 / 65 / 75
Abilities: Chlorophyll / Insomnia / Moody

Notable Moves:
- Flamethrower
- Overheat
- Giga Drain
- Growth
- Fire Blast
- Tera Blast
- Solar Beam
- Energy Ball
- Leaf Storm

Pros:
-
Very good speed tier in sun, with sun boosted Stab fire attacks, making it a potent sun sweeper
- Access to double boosts from growth in sun
- Equally good special attack and attack stats, letting it be a mixed attacker easily. Cons:
- Low stats besides offensive stats, and so outside of boosts or sun is quite frail and slow
- Poor defensive typing
- Realistically is only a special attacker because of its abysmal physical attack movepool
- Very limited coverage, it will probably only use fire and grass type moves

Terastallizing Potential: It can terastallize into a fire or grass type to lose weaknesses of one side, and double stab on fire in sun makes it extremely strong. However, it is very frail and its coverage is limited, and the user will probably just be using fire type moves anyway, and so unless there are special circumstances Scovillain will probably not terastallize.

Potential Sets:
Sun Sweeper
Scovillain @ Life Orb / Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Chlorophyll
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 SpAtk / 4 SpDef / 252 Spe
Timid / Modest Nature
- Fire Blast / Flamethrower
- Solar Beam / Energy Ball
- Overheat
- Growth

This set uses Scovillain's prime ability to be very threatening in sun, letting it switch in despite hazard stacking with HBD or life orb for more damage. Its moves are offensive and strong, with Overheat as an option when Fire Blast is not enough. Growth lets it set up twice as fast in sun, and it runs a fire tera type to blow away anything with strong fire type moves.

i ran scovillian on an OU sun team, and stomping tantrum is super useful. however it really doesn't have the bulk that it needs in OU even with boots. it really works as a revenge killer turned sweeper rather than something you can switch in.

Scovillian needs a lot of team support to pull off. It pairs really well with Talonflame since it can clear the hazards away and set up Sunny Day. Scovillian is so frail that it can be difficult to set up a growth, so I have found Giga Drain to be good option to do its best against priority moves. It is unfortunately isn't as scary as you would think it would be due to the prevalence of rain and sand teams. Overall it can definitely pull its weight.
