UU Rotom-W [QC 3/3] [GP: 2/2]

[OVERVIEW]
Rotom-W's typing and Levitate allow it to be an effective pivot that comes in against notable threats such as Mamoswine, Scizor, Celesteela, and Victini. Defog and Will-O-Wisp allow it to make progress even when the opponent switches to its checks and counters. Sadly, Rotom-W's poor HP stat in conjunction with its reliance on Leftovers and Pain Split for recovery holds back its ability to act as a reliable pivot and exacerbates its vulnerability to poison, burn, and Stealth Rock damage. It faces competition from Zeraora as an Electric-type pivot for the latter's outstanding Speed tier, Knock Off, Volt Switch immunity, and better matchup against staples such as Terrakion and Keldeo. While Rotom-W does have some useful resistances, it needs to be healthy or used with prediction to pivot against foes that can potentially dent it greatly, such as Victini carrying Energy Ball and Ground-types that have a strong secondary STAB move such as Nidoqueen and Diggersby.

[SET COMMENTS]
Volt Switch is required so Rotom-W can gain momentum against Grass- and Dragon-types such as Kommo-o and Tangrowth while bringing in teammates like Primarina and Victini to threaten them. Hydro Pump destroys entry hazard setters such as Rhyperior, Nidoqueen, and Krookodile. Pain Split is Rotom-W's only recovery move and gives Rotom-W more utility against bulkier teams, though it can be easy to play around. Will-O-Wisp cripples Amoonguss and Tangrowth, weakens Tapu Bulu, and stops Swords Dance Bisharp and Scizor. Other status moves can be used over Will-O-Wisp; Toxic handles Seismitoad and Gastrodon, whereas Thunder Wave cripples Kyurem and Kommo-o. Defog is an alternative over a status move or Pain Split because Rotom-W has several opportunities to remove hazards, such as when facing Celesteela and Slowking, while having a good matchup against many of the entry hazard setters. However, losing Pain Split hinders Rotom-W's ability to pivot against foes like Krookodile and Mamoswine, and losing a statusmove can make Rotom-W more passive against checks like Amoonguss. Leftovers cancels out burn damage and is Rotom-W's primary way of standing up to repeated U-turn and Stealth Rock damage. Rocky Helmet has the benefit of punishing the likes of Jirachi, Victini, and Scizor for spamming U-turn or contact moves, though losing the passive recovery from Leftovers is not ideal. 216 Speed EVs allow Rotom-W to outspeed unboosted Jolly Gyarados and slightly slower threats such as Chandelure, Togekiss, and Timid Nidoqueen. Alternatively, running 176 Speed EVs with a Bold nature allows Rotom-W to act as a better pivot against the likes of Krookodile and Scizor while outspeeding Modest Nidoqueen, Adamant Bisharp, and Timid Primarina.

Rotom-W fits on bulky offense and balance teams, which appreciate its ability to check Mamoswine, Scizor, Bisharp, and Gyarados. U-turn users such as Victini and Scizor form VoltTurn cores with Rotom-W that can be difficult to stop, as Rotom-W threatens their checks in Rhyperior, Rotom-H, and Skarmory. Rotom-W appreciates their ability to pressure Grass-types such as Amoonguss, Tangrowth, and Tapu Bulu. Additionally, special variants of Victini are able to pressure Kommo-o. Wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Keldeo and Nidoqueen appreciate Rotom-W's Volt Switch allowing them to repeatedly check threats such as Kyurem and Tapu Bulu or pressure defensive cores relying on Pokemon such as Chansey and Tangrowth. Rotom-W can answer checks to them such as Tentacruel, Mamoswine, and Krookodile. Rotom-W massively appreciates offensive Ice-types, such as Mamoswine and Kyurem, as teammates to rip through Dragon- and Grass-types; Mamoswine's Ice Shard makes it more capable of revenge killing offensive Kommo-o and Zygarde-10%, whereas Kyurem destroys the likes of Gastrodon and Seismitoad with Freeze-Dry. Both of them appreciate that Rotom-W is a good sponge for Scizor's Bullet Punch and Jirachi's Iron Head. Grass-types such as Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu handle Seismitoad and Gastrodon and patch any weaknesses against Zygarde-10%. Swords Dance Tapu Bulu can pressure Amoonguss and Tangrowth with Zen Headbutt and Megahorn and put pressure on Slowking, one of the few Water-types not bothered by Rotom-W. Choice Scarf Zarude is another option because it too forms a VoltTurn core with Rotom-W, and Zarude appreciates Rotom-W sponging Krookodile's Knock Off and checking Fire-types such as Chandelure.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Maximum Defense investment with a Bold nature makes Rotom-W a more effective pivot against Keldeo and Scizor, but the loss in Speed hampers it against foes like Nidoqueen. Choice Scarf is an option to revenge kill Keldeo and Terrakion. Such a set can also run Trick to cripple the likes of Gastrodon, Amoonguss, and Tangrowth. However, Choice Scarf Rotom-W can no longer act as a switch-in to Mamoswine and Krookodile, fearing Knock Off, and being Choice-locked lets Ground-types punish Volt Switch much more strongly. It also competes with Zeraora as a fast Electric-type pivot, as the latter can switch moves and threaten Kyurem. Nasty Plot + Pain Split turns Rotom-W into a wallbreaker able to pivot on Skarmory while still threatening entry hazard setters such as Rhyperior, but it still has immense problems with Grass-types and sacrifices a lot of defensive utility against the likes of Keldeo and Bisharp. This set also sacrifices Volt Switch in favor of Thunderbolt or Discharge, which makes the matchup against Grass-types even worse. Rindo Berry can be used if the team is too weak to Dragon Dance Gyarados, as it can prevent an OHKO from +2 Adamant Power Whip and provide a safety net against Tapu Bulu if Will-O-Wisp misses.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Grass-types**: Rotom-W cannot deal any significant damage to the likes of Tangrowth and Amoonguss aside from burning them. Though Tapu Bulu dislikes Will-O-Wisp, it can still threaten Rotom-W with Horn Leech to restore health. Zarude can use Jungle Healing to disregard status completely and use Rotom-W as setup fodder for Bulk Up. However, all of them lose momentum to Volt Switch as they switch in.

**Dragon-types**: Kommo-o only dislikes status from Rotom-W and is able to freely set up with Substitute and Clangorous Soul. Kyurem is especially nasty because it can use Choice Specs-boosted attacks or set up Substitute as Rotom-W switches out. Zygarde-10%'s Thousand Arrows ignores Levitate, meaning it heavily punishes teams that solely rely on Rotom-W to deal with Ground-types.

**Seismitoad and Gastrodon** Seismitoad and Gastrodon shut down Rotom-W nearly completely if it is not carrying Toxic. Seismitoad can cripple Rotom-W with Toxic and is the only Stealth Rock setter that is immune to both Hydro Pump and Volt Switch, and Gastrodon does not care much about Will-O-Wisp.

[OVERVIEW]
- Rotom-W's Electric / Water typing with Levitate allow it to be an effective pivot that comes in against notable threats such as Mamoswine, Scizor, Keldeo, and Victini. it barely even checks keldeo and definitely doesn't come in on it, better example would be like celesteela
- Its access to Defog and Will-O-Wisp makes it able to have utility even as the opponent switches to its checks and counters either by removing hazards or passing burns.
- Sadly, Rotom-W's poor HP stat in conjunction with relying on Leftovers and the unreliable Pain Split for recovery hold back its ability to act as a reliable pivot, as well as give it a notable weakness to poisons and burns without Pain Split.
- It faces competition from Zeraora as an Electric-type pivot for its ludicrous speed tier, access to Knock Off, and Volt Absorb to soak up opposing Volt Switches. it's also mostly because it sorta struggles with common key pokemon like latias and keldeo 1v1 which zera can just clap
- While Rotom-W's does have some key resistances, it needs to be in good condition or require prediction to pivot against foes that can potentially exploit its weaknesses, such as Victini carrying Energy Ball or against Ground-types that have a strong secondary STAB such as Nidoqueen or Diggersby.

Paragraph 1

remember to change the order of these things around to account for the set change

- Volt Switch is required so Rotom-W can pivot out against Grass and Dragon-types such as Latias and Tangrowth on the switch into teammates that can threaten them like Krookodile and Victini. It also allows Rotom-W to gain easy momentum against Skarmory and Celesteela.
- Rotom-W's STAB Hydro Pump, even uninvested, pressures hazard setters such as Rhyperior, Nidoqueen, and Krookodile. it does more than pressuring them, it absolutely destroys them
- Rotom-W has several opportunities to Defog with its resistances such as on Scizor's Bullet Punch, Slowking's Scald, and Mamoswine's STABs.
- Will-O-Wisp weakens Gastrodon, Tangrowth, and Latias for Rotom-W's teammates such as Terrakion to capitalize on; it also allows Rotom-W to weaken Zeraora and Tapu-Bulu for easier pivoting for itself and others. mention toxic as another option that cripples stuff like gastro/seis/tang better at the cost of not rlly having much against amoonguss, twave also as a thing to cripple latias and bulu and stuff
- Pain Split can be used over either move because it's Rotom-W's only form of recovery outside of Leftovers and gives it more utility against fatter teams using Chansey and Tangrowth, but the issue is that the health gain is inconsistent against other teams. reword to account for this being slash #1
- Leftovers is the standard as it's Rotom-W's primary way of not being too hindered by repeated U-turns and hazard damage while not netting damage from burns.
- Rindo Berry can be used for Rotom-W to act as an even better check to Gyarados because now it is able to live a +2 Adamant Power Whip from full health. Outside of this matchup, it can live one Horn Leech from Tapu Bulu for easier Will-O-Wisps though it does leave Rotom-W relying on Pain Split if it wants recovery. this is just way too niche, if you really want to keep it then put it in other options
- Rocky Helmet has the benefit of punishing the likes of Jirachi, Victini and Scizor for spamming U-turn or their physical STAB moves, though it needs Pain Split to be able to do this in more long term games.
- 216 Speed investment allows Rotom-W to outspeed Jolly Gyarados before a Dragon Dance boost and by extension outruns plus Speed Nature base 80s such as Chandelure and Togekiss; everything else is put into HP and Def for Rotom-W's bulk.

Paragraph 2
- Rotom-W fits on bulky offense and balance teams where they appreciate Rotom-W's defensive capabilities and where Rotom-W's own bulk can be preserved more for other threats such as Bisharp and Gyarados.
- U-turn users such as Victini, Scizor, and Jirachi make for momentum cores that can be difficult to stop as Rotom-W threatens their checks in Rhyperior, Rotom-H, and Skarmory, and Rotom-W appreciates their ability to pressure the bulky Grass-types.
- Wallbreakers such as Latias, Choice Specs Keldeo, and Nidoqueen and appreciate Rotom-W's Volt Switch to allow them to repeatedly check threats such as Kyurem, or pressure defensive cores relying on Pokemon such as Chansey or Tangrowth. Rotom-W in return can pivot back in to answer their checks such as Slowking and Mamoswine.
- The offensive Ice-types, Mamoswine and Kyurem, rip through both the Dragon and Grass-types as well as helping in removing the Ground-types to free Rotom-W's Volt Switch; Mamoswine's Ice Shard makes it more capable of killing Latias and Zygarde-10%, whereas Kyurem destroys the likes of Gastrodon and Seismetoad Seismitoad with Freeze-Dry. Both of them appreciate that Rotom-W is a good sponge for Scizor's Bullet Punch and Jirachi's Iron Head.
- Grass-types such as Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu are viable partners as Seismetoad Seismitoad and Gastrodon wall out Rotom-W completely, and they help against Zygarde-10%; Zarude is an option because it can also pair with Rotom-W in a VoltTurn core while being able to effectively soak status with Jungle Healing, though they do share checks in Amoonguss and Tangrowth. Rotom-W assists them by pressuring their answers such as Jirachi

include latias checks here since you're just such a free pivot for it on the standard set, can tie it in before the ice types mention and then include the ice types or at least mamo as things that can check it in a pinch

- Choice Scarf is something Rotom-W can do to completely cripple the likes of Gastrodon, Amoonguss, and Tangrowth, but can be more prediction reliant as spamming Volt Switch on a potential immunity is much more punishable than it would otherwise be; it also still competes with Zeraora as an Electric-type pivot.
- Nasty Plot turns Rotom-W into a wallbreaker able to pivot into Skarmory and threaten Rhyperior, something Rotom-H cannot do, but it still has immense problems with Grass-types, and sacrifices a lot of defensive integrity against the likes Keldeo and Bisharp.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Grass-types**: Rotom-W cannot do anything to deal any significant damage to the likes of Tangrowth, and Amoonguss aside from burning them. Though Tapu Bulu dislikes Will-O-Wisp, it can still threaten Rotom-W with its Horn Leech to restore health, and still sets up Grassy Terrain. Zarude is notable as it can use Jungle Healing to disregard Will-O-Wisp, and use Rotom-W as setup fodder with Bulk Up.

**Dragon-types**: Pokemon like Latias and Salamence do not fear much against Rotom-W one on one aside from burns and are able to break through Rotom-W with their Dragon STAB. Kyurem is especially nasty because it can use the opportunity to KO with its Specs attacks or use Substitute as Rotom-W switches out.

**Volt Absorbers**: Zeraora and Thundurus-T get dented by Hydro Pump, and the fomer is crippled badly by burns but they deter a mindless Volt-Switch and they still 2HKO Rotom-W with their own electric STAB or grab momentum with Volt Switch. To make matters worse Plasma Fists's secondary effect means using Pain Split will actually give Zeraora health by Volt Absorb, and the matchup can come down to whether Hydro Pump or Will-O-Wisp connects or not.

these are definitely not reliable checks, they're 2hkod by hydro pump.

**Water / Ground types** uh not really, quag's not a check and gastro/seis are only really good checks bc of water absorb. you can reword this to just gastro/seis: Quagsire avoids being 2HKOed by Hydro Pump thanks to Leftovers recovery and cripples Rotom-W with Toxic. not even close to reliable Gastrodon and Seismetoad Seismitoad are able to completely wall out Rotom-W as they are immune to Hydro Pump thanks to Storm Drain and Water Absorb respectively, and the former does not care too much about being burnt due to its instant recovery.

I'd split the vulnerability to status into a separate sentence when you write this up because this is structured a little weirdly to me.

This slashing doesn't work very well. It kind of implies you can run Pain Split with Pain Split. If you change it to Defog then it implies you can run Defog as an alternative to either wisp and pain split.

Paragraph 1

- Volt Switch is required so Rotom-W can pivot out against Grass- and Dragon-types such as Latias and Tangrowth on the switch into teammates that can threaten them like Krookodile and Victini. It also allows Rotom-W to gain easy momentum against Skarmory and Celesteela.

- Pain Split is Rotom-W's only form of recovery outside of Leftovers and gives it more utility against fatter teams, especially against ones using Regenerator Pokemon and Chansey, though it is inconsistent against offensive teams. I wouldn't say it is inconsistent against offense. I'd just say it is easy for the opponent to play around it.
- Defog is an alternative option as Rotom-W has several opportunities to remove hazards such as on Scizor's Bullet Punch, Slowking's Scald, and Mamoswine's STABs, though Pain Split is recommended over Will-O-Wisp to have the survivability to do this consistently.
- Will-O-Wisp chips Gastrodon, Tangrowth, and Latias for Rotom-W's teammates such as Terrakion to capitalize on; it also allows Rotom-W to weaken Zeraora and Tapu-Bulu for easier pivoting for itself and others. Scizor and Bisharp should be brought up here as Wisp is Rotom-W's best means of dealing with them.
- Other status moves can be used over Will-O-Wisp to cripple other specific checks and counters; Toxic handles Seismitoad and Gastrodon, and Thunder Wave cripples Latias and Tapu Bulu. Use Kommo-o over Bulu to change the examples up.
- Leftovers is the standard as it's Rotom-W's primary way of not being too hindered by repeated U-turns and hazard damage while not netting damage from burns.
- Rocky Helmet has the benefit of punishing the likes of Jirachi, Victini, and Scizor for spamming U-turn or their physical STAB moves, though losing the passive recovery from Leftovers is not ideal.
- 216 Speed investment allows Rotom-W to outspeed Jolly Gyarados before a Dragon Dance and by extension outruns plus positive Speed Nature base 80s such as Chandelure and Togekiss; everything else is put into HP and Def for Rotom-W's bulk.

Paragraph 2
- Rotom-W fits on bulky offense and balance teams where they appreciate Rotom-W's defensive capabilities and where Rotom-W's own bulk can be preserved more for other threats such as Bisharp and Gyarados.

Rotom-W in return can pivot back in to answer their checks such as Slowking and Mamoswine. Switching into Slowking honestly doesn't amount to much when it takes nothing from Volt and just slow Ports out and gets back all that health with Regenerator. Use something else.
- Hard switch-ins to Latias such as Hatterene and Jirachi are recommended because Latias is a common Pokemon that often uses Rotom-W as a free point of entry; other teammates such as Mamoswine and Choice Scarf Krookodile are also offensive checks that can come off of Volt Switch or check Latias in a pinch.
- The offensive Ice-types, such as the aforementioned Mamoswine and Kyurem, rip through both the Dragon and Grass-types as well as helping in removing the Ground-types to free Rotom-W's Volt Switch; Mamoswine's Ice Shard makes it more capable of revenge killing Latias and Zygarde-10%, whereas Kyurem destroys the likes of Gastrodon and Seismitoad with Freeze-Dry. - Choice Scarf is something Rotom-W can do alongside Trick to handicap the likes of Gastrodon, Amoonguss, and Tangrowth, but can be more prediction reliant as spamming Volt Switch on a potential immunity is much more punishable than it would otherwise be; it also still competes with Zeraora as a fast Electric-type pivot. I'd at least list some stuff it helps revenge kill.
- Nasty Plot turns Rotom-W into a wallbreaker able to pivot into Skarmory while still threatening Rhyperior, something Rotom-H cannot do, but it still has immense problems with Grass-types, and sacrifices a lot of defensive integrity against the likes Keldeo and Bisharp.
- Rindo Berry can be used on Rotom-W if the team is too weak to Dragon Dance Gyarados, as it can live a +2 Adamant Power Whip at full. Additionally, it provides a safety net against Tapu Bulu if Will-O-Wisp misses.

A spread with a Bold nature and max Defense is worth mentioning as a better pivot into Scizor and Keldeo.

Checks and Counters
===================
Kyurem is especially nasty because it can use the opportunity to KO with its Choice Specs boosted attacks or set up Substitute as Rotom-W switches out.

**Seismitoad and Gastrodon** These two shut out Rotom-W nearly completely if it is without Toxic due to the former's Water Absorb and the latter's Storm Drain. Seismitoad is the only Stealth Rock setter that is both immune to Hydro Pump and Volt Switch and cripples Rotom-W with Toxic, and Gastrodon does not care that much about burns because it uses Rotom-W as a free opportunity to use Recover.

Volt Switch is required so Rotom-W can pivot out against Grass- and Dragon-types such as Latias and Tangrowth on the switch into teammates check your wording here that can threaten them like Krookodile and Victini. It also allows Rotom-W to gain easy momentum against Skarmory and Celesteela. Rotom-W's STAB Hydro Pump, even uninvested, destroys hazard setters such as Rhyperior, Nidoqueen, and Krookodile. Pain Split is Rotom-W's only form of recovery outside of Leftovers and gives it more utility against fatter teams, especially against ones using Regenerator Pokemon and Chansey, though it is easy to play around Pain Split by switching weakened Pokemon against it. Will-O-Wisp chips Gastrodon, Tangrowth, and Latias for Rotom-W's teammates such as Terrakion to capitalize on; it also allows Rotom-W to weaken Zeraora and Tapu Bulu for easier pivoting for itself and others. It's also Rotom-W's best means of weakening Bisharp and Scizor, dodging the former's Sucker Punch, making it easier to play around the latter spamming U-turn, and hindering both of their attempts at a potential Swords Dance. Other status moves can be used over Will-O-Wisp to cripple other specific checks and counters; Toxic handles Seismitoad and Gastrodon, also can rly cripple Lati too whereas Thunder Wave cripples Latias and Kommo-o. Defog is an alternative option as Rotom-W has several opportunities to remove hazards such as on Scizor's Bullet Punch, Slowking's Scald, and Mamoswine's STABs, though Pain Split is recommended over Will-O-Wisp to have the survivability to do this consistently. Comment on its good matchup versus most hazard setters. This last bit reads bit weirdly, comment on the specific downsides of running it over each move, ie. that it struggles to check mons like mamo and krook reliably without pain split, but can be a lot more passive without willo/toxic. Leftovers is the standard as it's Rotom-W's primary way of not being too hindered by repeated U-turn and Stealth Rock damage while not netting damage from burns. Rocky Helmet has the benefit of punishing the likes of Jirachi, Victini, and Scizor for spamming U-turn or their physical STAB moves, though losing the passive recovery from Leftovers is not ideal. 216 Speed investment allows Rotom-W to outspeed Jolly Gyarados before a Dragon Dance and by extension outruns positive Speed Nature base 80s such as Chandelure and Togekiss; its a base 76 but worth mntioning with the edits i'll add after; timid nidoqueen. everything else is put into HP and Def for Rotom-W's bulk. I would give mention to a spread with 176 Speed EVs and a Bold nature, letting you outspeed stuff like Modest Queen, ada Bisharp and timid specs prim, while giving you greater bulk which hlelps you pivot into stuff like krook and sciz better.

Rotom-W fits on bulky offense and balance teams where they appreciate Rotom-W's defensive capabilities and where Rotom-W's own bulk can be preserved more for other threats such as Bisharp and Gyarados. Would specifically comment about some of those defensive capabilities, eg. teams that struggle a lot with mamo or sd sciz. U-turn users such as Victini and Scizor make for momentum cores that can be difficult to stop as Rotom-W threatens their checks in Rhyperior, Rotom-H, and Skarmory, and Rotom-W appreciates their ability to pressure the bulky Grass-types. Would give specific examples since this is the first time you bring them up, ie. amoong, tang, bulu. Might also be worth commenting on special Victini here being able to pressure Kommo-o too. Wallbreakers such as Latias and Choice Specs Keldeo appreciate Rotom-W's Volt Switch to allow them to repeatedly check threats such as Kyurem, or pressure defensive cores relying on Pokemon such as Chansey or Tangrowth Swap the orders of these two mentions, since keldeo doens't pressure tang directly nor lati chansey. Rotom-W in return can pivot back in to answer their respective checks such as Mamoswine, Krookodile and Tentacruel. Hard switch-ins to Latias such as Hatterene and Jirachi are recommended because Latias is a common Pokemon that often uses Rotom-W as a free point of entry. Other offensive checks such as Mamoswine and Choice Scarf Krookodile can come off of Volt Switch or revenge kill Latias. The offensive Ice-types, such as the aforementioned Mamoswine and Kyurem, rip through both the Dragon- and Grass-types as well as helping in removing the Ground-types to free Rotom-W's Volt Switch realistically you don't use Ground types to check these Pokemon, and apart from like Gastro/Seis, ground types dont deal with washtom anyway; Mamoswine's Ice Shard makes it more capable of revenge killing Latias and Zygarde-10%, whereas Kyurem destroys the likes of Gastrodon and Seismitoad with Freeze-Dry. You might want to bring Twave up with kyurem especially, as it lets it prssure latias too. Both of them appreciate that Rotom-W is a good sponge for Scizor's Bullet Punch and Jirachi's Iron Head. Grass-types such as Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu are viable partners as Seismitoad and Gastrodon wall out Rotom-W completely, and they help against Zygarde-10%. Would comment on how SD Bulu can remove the bulky grasses for wash, and how these Pokemon can also pressure Slowking, which is a water-type washtom can't rly do much to other than status it since it can just slow tele on ur volt switch. You can also comment on the fact these two grass types can patch up your matchup to zygarde-10%, which is a ground type washtom cant check. Zarude is another option because it can also pair with Rotom-W in a VoltTurn core while being able to effectively soak status with Jungle Healing, though they do share checks in Amoonguss and Tangrowth. Id talk about Scarf Zarude here more than boots ones personally, though you can still give a mention to boots jungle healin, something scarf zarude really needs is secondary krook checks because it doesn't wanna lose its item which wash gives u, scarf zarude also pressures lati a lot for wash. Rotom-W assists them by pressuring their answers such as Jirachi This reads a little weirdly at the end, if you are referring to the grass types then I would specify this.

An alternative spread of max defense with a bold nature makes Rotom-W a more effective pivot against Keldeo and makes it even better against Scizor, but the loss in Speed hampers it against foes like Nidoqueen. Choice Scarf is something Rotom-W can use to revenge kill Zeraora don't rly like this mention necessarily since u need a lot of chip, but you can mention the surprise factor here i guess, keldeo is a better mention though imo and Terrakion, while having the option to handicap the likes of Gastrodon, Amoonguss, and Tangrowth with Trick, but this can assume this is a leftover from a previous sentence is more prediction reliant as using Volt Switch is much more punishable on an immunity. Another big issue this set has is it's still serving as a krook / mamo check etc, but no longer can risk switching into them because of knock. It also competes with Zeraora as a fast Electric-type pivot for being able to switch moves while providing speed control and Knock Off support. its also speed control that pressures lati unlike washtom. Nasty Plot turns Rotom-W into a wallbreaker able to pivot into Skarmory while still threatening Rhyperior, something Rotom-H cannot do, but it still has immense problems with Grass-types and sacrifices a lot of defensive integrity against the likes Keldeo and Bisharp. worth noting that it can't rly pivot out of these grass types either as it basically needs NP + pain split, (would specify that you run pain split with it specificlaly at the beginning), and you dont rly wanna run NP + volt switch without tbolt. Rindo Berry can be used on Rotom-W if the team is too weak to Dragon Dance Gyarados, as it can live a +2 Adamant Power Whip at full. Additionally, it provides a safety net against Tapu Bulu if Will-O-Wisp misses.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Grass-types**: Rotom-W cannot do anything to deal any significant damage to the likes of Tangrowth and Amoonguss aside from burning them. Though Tapu Bulu dislikes Will-O-Wisp, it can still threaten Rotom-W with its Horn Leech to restore health, and still sets up Grassy Terrain. Zarude is also a threat as it can use Jungle Healing to disregard status completely, and use Rotom-W as setup fodder with Bulk Up. Comment on the fact that all these Pokemon can be volt switched on as they come in though, letting in offensive checks to them.

**Dragon-types**: Pokemon like Latias and Salamence do not fear much against Rotom-W one on one aside from burns and are able to break through Rotom-W with their Dragon STAB. This is only true for mence sets running Draco meteor, washtom is actually a good check to hurricane + flamethrower offensive sets or defensive sets. Kyurem is especially nasty because it can use the opportunity to KO with its Choice Specs boosted attacks or set up Substitute as Rotom-W switches out. Mention zygarde too, which can just thousand arrows you and punishes teams that rely on it to deal with ground types.

QC 3/3. Make sure to have a read through this after you implement it before sending to GP, the moves section especially is very long and it'd be worth checking if there's anywhere you can cut down on wordiness. Feel free to tag me or message in the #analyses channel in UU disc if you would like some help trying to cut this down a bit.

Rotom-W's Electric / Water typing along with Levitate allows it to be an effective pivot that comes in against notable threats such as Mamoswine, Scizor, Celesteela, and Victini. Its access to Defog and Will-O-Wisp makes it able to have utility even as allow it to make progress even if the opponent switches to its checks and counters either by removing hazards or passing burns. Sadly, Rotom-W's poor HP stat in conjunction with relying its reliance on Leftovers and the unreliable Pain Split for recovery hold back its ability to act as a reliable pivot. This also means that Rotom-W struggles with poison and burn damage wearing it down alongside Stealth Rock. It faces competition from Zeraora as an Electric-type pivot for its ludicrous speed Speed tier, access to Knock Off, ability in Volt Absorb to soak up opposing Volt Switches, and better metagame matchup against staples such as Terrakion and Keldeo. While Rotom-W's Rotom-W does have some key resistances, it needs to be in good condition or requires prediction to pivot against foes that can potentially exploit its weaknesses, such as Victini carrying Energy Ball or and against Ground-types that have a strong secondary STAB such as Nidoqueen and Diggersby.

Volt Switch is required so Rotom-W can gain momentum against Grass- and Dragon-types such as Kommo-o and Tangrowth while setting up teammates like Primarina and Victini to threaten them. It also allows Rotom-W to gain easy momentum against Skarmory and Celesteela. Rotom-W's Hydro Pump destroys hazard setters such as Rhyperior, Nidoqueen, and Krookodile. Pain Split is Rotom-W's only form of recovery outside of Leftovers and gives it more utility against fatter bulkier teams, though Pain Split can be easy to play around. Will-O-Wisp cripples Amoongus and Tangrowth,(RC) and weakens Tapu Bulu. It's also Rotom-W's best method of crippling Bisharp and Scizor, as it hinders any potential Swords Dance attempt. Other status moves can be used over Will-O-Wisp to cripple other checks and counters; Toxic handles Seismitoad and Gastrodon, whereas Thunder Wave cripples Kyurem and Kommo-o. Defog is an alternative over either move because Rotom-W has several opportunities to remove hazards such as on when facing Celesteela and Slowking, while having a good matchup against many of the entry hazard setters. However, losing Pain Split hinders Rotom-W's ability to pivot against foes like Krookodile and Mamoswine, but losing out on a status move can make Rotom-W more passive against checks like Amoonguss. Leftovers is the standard item,(AC) as it's Rotom-W's primary way of not being too hindered by repeated U-turn and Stealth Rock damage while not netting accumulating (netting seems like a weird word) damage from burns. Rocky Helmet has the benefit of punishing the likes of Jirachi, Victini, and Scizor for spamming U-turn or their physical STAB contact moves, though losing the passive recovery from Leftovers is not ideal. 216 Speed investment allows Rotom-W to outspeed Jolly Gyarados before a Dragon Dance and by extension outruns positive Speed Nature Speed-natured base 80s such as Chandelure and Togekiss while outspeeding and Timid Nidoqueen. Everything else is The other EVs are put into HP and Defense to maximize for Rotom-W's bulk. An alternative spread of 176 Speed EVs with a Bold nature allows Rotom-W to outspeed modest Nidoqueen, Adamant Bisharp and Timid Choice Specs Primarina, while giving Rotom-W more bulk to act as a better pivot against the likes of Krookodile and Scizor.

Rotom-W fits on bulky offense and balance teams where they appreciate Rotom-W Rotom-W's ability to check Mamoswine and Swords Dance Scizor and where Rotom-W's own (this "own" makes no sense here) bulk can be preserved more for other threats such as Bisharp and Gyarados. U-turn users such as Victini and Scizor make for momentum form VoltTurn cores that can be difficult to stop, as Rotom-W threatens their checks in Rhyperior, Rotom-H, and Skarmory. Rotom-W appreciates their ability to pressure the Grass-types such as Amoongus, Tangrowth, and Tapu Bulu. Additionally, special variants of Victini are able to pressure Kommo-o. Wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Keldeo and Nidoqueen appreciate Rotom-W's Volt Switch to allow them to repeatedly check threats such as Kyurem and Tapu Bulu, or pressure defensive cores relying on Pokemon such as Chansey or and Tangrowth. Rotom-W in return can pivot back in to answer their respective checks such as Tentacruel, Mamoswine, and Krookodile. The offensive Offensive Ice-types, such as the aforementioned Mamoswine and Kyurem, rip through both the Dragon- and Grass-types; Mamoswine's Ice Shard makes it more capable of revenge killing offensive Kommo-o and Zygarde-10%, whereas Kyurem destroys the likes of Gastrodon and Seismitoad with Freeze-Dry. Both of them appreciate that Rotom-W (you should mention rotom appreciates them as teammates when introducing them. i was lost when you suddenly mentioned those two ice-types and didn't know if they were being described as teammates or not) is a good sponge for Scizor's Bullet Punch and Jirachi's Iron Head. Grass-types such as Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu are viable partners as Seismitoad and Gastrodon wall out Rotom-W completely, and patch any weaknesses against Zygarde-10%. Swords Dance Tapu Bulu can pressure Amoongus and Tangrowth with Zen Headbutt and Megahorn respectively, and put pressure on Slowking, one of the few Water-types not bothered by Rotom-W. Choice Scarf Zarude is another option because it can also pair with Rotom-W in a VoltTurn core, and Zarude appreciates Rotom-W sponging Krookodile's Knock Off to preserve its Choice Scarf and check Fire-types such as Chandelure

An alternative EV spread of max Defense with a Bold nature makes Rotom-W a more effective pivot against Keldeo and makes it even better against Scizor, but the loss in Speed hampers it against foes like Nidoqueen. Choice Scarf is something Rotom-W can use an option to revenge kill Keldeo and Terrakion. This also has the option to handicap cripple the likes of Gastrodon, Amoonguss, and Tangrowth with Trick. However, the issues are that Rotom-W can no longer act as a pivot to Mamoswine and Krookodile in fear of losing its Choice Scarf to Knock Off and that being locked into Volt Switch against Ground-types is much more punishable by an immunity punishing.

Seismitoad can cripple Rotom-W with Toxic and is the only Stealth Rock setter that is both immune to both Hydro Pump and Volt Switch, and Gastrodon does not care much about Will-O-Wisp.
