Tiers

The hybrid individual/team tournament is back in the form of RoA Olympics 6. The tiers will remain the same as RoAO 5's.

Tiers featured:
7 × Ubers tiers: RBY Ubers / GSC Ubers / ADV Ubers / DPP Ubers / BW Ubers / ORAS Ubers / SM Ubers
7 × OU tiers: RBY OU / GSC OU / ADV OU / DPP OU / BW OU / ORAS OU / SM OU
7 × UU tiers: RBY UU / GSC UU / ADV UU / DPP UU / BW UU / ORAS UU / SM UU
4 × Legendary tiers: DPP LC / BW RU / ORAS Doubles OU / LGPE OU

Tournament Format

There will be a mini tournament for each tier (all in the same thread this time), all of which will have 16 player slots, 1 slot for each team. All of these mini tournaments will be single elimination, first-to-2-wins (bo3 wins) every round and players who progress through 2-3 rounds will represent their teams in 3rd-1st place finals to determine who receives gold, silver and bronze medal sprites - with gold worth 3 points, silver worth 2 points and bronze worth 1 points to a team in the overall standings. Pairings will be random each round. There will also be a generous deadline each round with minimal extensions.

If there are not exactly 16 teams signed up, a playins (preliminary/qualification round) will be contested by new nations and returning nations ranked at the bottom based on last year’s ranking to determine who qualifies. The pairings will follow WCoP qualification procedure found here.

About Nations

The final 16 teams are: Americas, Argentina, Asia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Independent Olympians, Italy, Spain, UK, US Northeast, US South, US West.

Each team will have 12 players and each player can be picked for a maximum of 3 tiers. ~2 tiers per player is average (25 tiers) while players playing less than 3 tiers can be substituted in as long as the maximum tiers they play is still 3. Substitutions are only available in round 1 and must be from the roster of 12. You cannot sub-in a player that you have subbed out of another tier. Captains can play.

The overall winning team will get to display a blue and green
RoA Olympic Trophy in their signatures, while the 1st, 2nd and 3rd individuals in each of the minitours will get to display

After playing countless friendlies with her since the announcement of finals, I won in 2 games that were absolutely filled with the most egregious hax.

Game 1 , early on Holly had momentum but I knew that if I wanted to get some advantage, I would have to avoid following her steps as I normally ended up doing in our games together. If she gets spikes early that's fine, I'd have to find another opening by playing towards a different goal.
The Gyarados proved to be a great threat for my team so I had to avoid showing whether I had Hidden Power Electric or Ice Beam, on the off chance that she doesn't just use the damage calculator.
She also made the decision to Thief my Hypno which could have been fatal for me with Spikes down, if only my team hadn't been so bulky. The trade could have ended in my favor with a granbull sweep (like I said, different goals) but near the midgame I ended up getting greedy and losing my Granbull to a critical hit. I was a bit shocked at first and thought that was my only out as I was forced to continue repelling Gyarados's barrage of attacks but besides the initial freeze and thaw, I ended up getting a crit with Piloswine through a light screen and we ended with my Hypno Pilo and Oma vs her Light Screen Hypno and her Dodrio. A long PP stall war ensued after Dodrio fainted.

Game 2 I felt like giving Swords Dance Hidden POwer bug lead Scyther a shot. This is basically the same team used in the finals of UUFPL
I unexpectedly was facing a Hypno yet again, which was great for me. I stayed in a second turn against Holly's Gligar, which revealed not to have Hidden Power Rock. On turn 3 I ruled out the possibility of attempting a sweep right then and there and that I should just pass 3x attack to Granbull which was sleep talk and hidden power ground. The worst she could do with Gligar was use Screech or something but she ended up clicking counter into thin air and was staring at my Granbull, who managed to take out Omastar and Gligar.
My Slowbro was somewhat of an entry point for Curse Vileplume so I just had to spam attackss and hope not to full para. Though it would have been problematic, I had a haunter and a healthy qwilfish in the back so I wasn't too worried. Since I also had the hunch that her Hypno would be setting up screens, I'd also seize the opportunity to gain back leftovers for my worn down Granbull. My Scyther was also healthy enough to attempt a second BP or sweep on its own.
On turn 30 in a second sweep attempt from Vileplume, my slowbro crit through her Light Screen, which effectively eliminated one of here wincons so it put me in a good position to wall Blastoise and Nidoqueen.
On turn 44 my Qwilfish helped with spikes and I had Haunter to block any attempt to use rapid spin. I ended up using this really broken strategy of staying in with Qwilfish to sacrifice it and immediately start threatening again with Scyther (which Holly used against me in the past).
My Granbull was once again at +2 attack and took out Nidoqueen and it was pretty much curtains.

What to say besides thanks to Holly, not only for being a worthy opponent, but a great friend that I could always count on. When it comes to any tier, ever since we started discovering gsc nu until now with GSC UU, you always had the courage to go down paths nobody else has. You built teams that I've never seen work, and you've shown everyone how to be more open minded, without falling into the vicious circle of "heat teams".
In finals I expected you to bring Piloswine and Laturn or Rest Talk Mime, but there you go again showing some of the greatest craftsmanship and skill if I've ever seen some.
I couldn't ask for someone better to play some fun games with. I am glad you are respected in Ruins of Alph, I hope you destroy all future competition.
Thanks to everyone on team Canada and thanks Genesis7 for having me on the team. Thanks to all of my opponents for putting my back against the wall every round and at least make me attempt to be competent before I got bailed out by some cheesy mechanic. Thanks to Siatam Estarossa LpZ Diophantine Earthworm for your innovations and for showing me the wonders of this tier.
Thanks especially to the people in the GSC discord (and Holly Again!) because of what that server means to me. I am so glad I spent so much time with everyone.
As for me I won't be joining any tournaments in the near future. I've already been tired of GSC OU and I already made up my mind not to play in UUSD or GSC PL. Whether I won or not I am happy I got to the point where I am with this tier after having joined literally every GSC UU tier since exactly 1 year ago. I've seen other people make progress with me and it feels reassuring to see so much enthusiasm.

But I am kind of tired of competing for now. I can finally stop playing for a while. Who knows where I will go. Ok enough of this feel good bullshit.
