Tapu Lele has a wide array of viable sets, but nowadays, many argue that its best set is Psychium Z. Psyshock allows Tapu Lele to cover special walls, and using Shattered Psyche from Psyshock allows Tapu Lele to cover special walls, and it gives Tapu Lele access to a powerful nuke. Tapu Lele also appreciates not being Choice-locked, as its Choice Specs set lets certain Dark-types, such as Ash-Greninja and Tyranitar, take advantage of it. Unlike Tapu Lele's other sets, either Calm Mind or Taunt is used to enable an even better matchup against bulkier archetypes. While Jirachi, Celesteela, and Assault Vest Magearna can be somewhat problematic for Tapu Lele, other Psychic-types such as Mega Alakazam and Mega Medicham can form a devastating Psychic-type Spam core and, along with Tapu Lele, wear their shared checks down.

Shattered Psyche coming from Psyshock mainly allows for Tapu Lele to cover both physical and special walls, (AC) and using Shattered Psyche from Psyshock allows Tapu Lele to cover special walls, and it gives Tapu Lele access to a powerful nuke at the same time (implied) while still having quite a nuke on its arsenal in Shattered Psyche. The freedom of Tapu Lele also appreciates not being Choice-locked (AH) is also very much appreciated by Tapu Lele, whose as its Choice Specs set lets certain Dark-types, such as Ash-Greninja and Tyranitar, (AC) take advantage of its choice lock. Unlike Tapu Lele's other sets, either Calm Mind or Taunt is chosen in this particular moveset used to enable an even better matchup against bulkier archetypes.
