Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Trakoal (coal + trachemys scripta elegans, which is the Latin name for red eared slider turtles. Pronounced tray-coal) Evolves from: Torkoal Type: Fire Abilities: White Smoke / Shell Armor | Berserk Stats: 55 / 35 / 90 / 75 / 30 / 55 BST: 340 Removed Moves: Earth Power Description: Bulky Fire-type spinner with Stealth Rock for some hazard control. Speed boosts from Rapid Spin coupled with a potential boost from Berserk can turn him into a threatening cleaner if your opponent is not careful. He also has rare access to Lava Plume, a great STAB that can threaten physical attackers with a burn, and makes him less passive by threatening big damage onto Steel- and Grass-types.
Portensol (Sol, as in sun or wherever it comes from in absol’s name, + portent, because it sees the future). Type: Dark Abilities: Anticipation / Unnerve | Fur Coat Evolves into: Absol Stats: 40 / 75 / 54 / 50 / 40 / 70 BST: 339 Removed Moves: Superpower, Avalanche, Blizzard Description: Kind of a standard physical Dark-type with useful tools like Sucker Punch and Swords Dance. However, it has Unnerve, which can be used to prevent the use of Berry Juice, and a great speed tier of 70. Additionally, it has the option to run a very thick defensive set with Fur Coat, making use of some of Dark’s defensive qualities, however it lacks useful defensive utility.
Description: Abrise has a unique trait, where it resists Knock Off and can get a Attack boost from it. There is no item that works well with this unfortunately, so it will use Eviolite most of the time. Super Luck can potentially allow it to break through Toedscool, Marenie, Ferroseed and Koffing with Crit Knock Offs and Pursuit is nice to trap Natu, Gastly and Abra. Lastly Sucker Punch is great for Diglett and Voltorb and other faster Pokemon. Bulky sets can utilise the Eviolite bulk alongside Will-O-Wisp. Wish can also work but doesn't work well in an offensive format.

Description: Hatchem is a really bulky Pokemon with its amazing defense stat of 110. It pretty much blanks every Physical attacker and it can annoy them further with Lava Plume, Curse and Will-O-Wisp. However, its Stealth Rock weakness and lack of recovery allows the opponent to chip it and it can get worn down easily, especially if you decide to use it as a spinner. Curse sets have Shell Armor to protect against crits but they are vulnerable against status and Mareanie forces those sets to run Zen Headbutt thus giving up on Rest or one of Flare Blitz and Body Press.
Pokémon: Cuttle Evolves Into: Seviper (Evolves into Seviper at Level 30) Stats: 43/70/50/50/40/55 (308) Typing:
Description: I gave this the Sneasel/Weavile treatment, where the prevo has an ability that gets lost upon evolution. Rattled is pretty niche, since Intimidate is pretty uncommon, but U-turn and Knock Off are spammed moves in the tier, so there are opportunities to potentially use this ability. Shed Skin is the best ability overall, allowing it to switch into Scalds and Thunder Waves or use Rest effectively. Making it a great set-up sweeper with Coil or Swords Dance.
Evolves into: Absol (Activate its ability 3 times in one battle)
Type: Dark
Abilities: Anticipation/Filter (Rattled HA)
Stats: 55/45/55/35/55/70
Removed moves: None
Greatly reduced offensive stats, with smaller reductions in defenses and more defensive abilities. The idea is that Byslee uses its foresight to avoid danger, while Absol learns to prevent it. None of Absol’s moves are removed since its attacking stats are so reduced, and it’s relatively fast, so it can set up with Filter + Weakness Policy or use Rattled to boost off of a Knock Off and use Swords Dance; then sweep with Absol’s strong attacking moves. Alternatively, Anticipation helps sniff out opponents’ sets, while Knock Off, Taunt and Perish Song disrupt them.
Also went for a Gandalf the Grey vibe, to Absol’s Gandalf the White. Not sure why, just felt like it fit.
