Porygon2

[OVERVIEW]

  • Porygon2 can function decently as a defensive pivot thanks to its great support movepool, Eviolite-boosted bulk, and amazing ability.
  • Teleport allows Porygon2 to reliably get in powerful wallbreakers while sparing them from taking direct damage.
  • Porygon2 pairs very well with most offensive Pokemon, as it's able to absorb damage and switch them in safely with Teleport.
  • great abilities; download + bulky as shit makes it p good vs offensive teams while trace can copy stuff like regen
  • passive
  • ohkod by rocks
  • main thing being teleport limits it to offense otherwise something like guzz/bear/incin/reun whatever is gonna be better

[SET COMMENTS]

  • Tri Attack is a decent alternative that does more to the likes of Xurkitree, Raikou, and Starmie.
  • Ice Beam is generally the preferred attacking move because it OHKOes Noivern and Flygon, while also 2HKOing Roserade and Golurk.
  • Psychic prevents fighters like Bewear and Heracross from coming in and hits ice beam targets in crobat/queen/rose
  • Foul Play is an attacking option to hit Psychic- and Ghost-types like Metagross, Dhelmise, and Alolan Marowak.
  • A specially defensive spread allows Eviolite Porygon2 to blanket check many dangerous special attackers, such as Xurkitree, Toxtricity, and Roserade. Some Defense investment can be used to make Porygon2 a better pivot into the likes of Dhelmise and Flygon should its team need it.
  • Download makes p2 good vs offense prevents it from being passive. Trace is a more defensive option that allows Porygon2 to copy great abilities, like Regenerator from Reuniclus and Punk Rock from Toxtricity.

  • Porygon2 pairs very well with most offensive Pokemon, as it's able to absorb damage and switch them in safely with Teleport. Toxtricity, Pangoro, Golurk, and Heracross are powerful wallbreakers that enjoy having Porygon2 to fall back on when they're forced out by certain special attackers, such as Noivern.
  • Pokemon such as Dhelmise and Starmie can remove entry hazards, which otherwise hamper Porygon2's ability to pivot and forces it to use Recover more often.
  • A pivoting core can also be powerful, especially with the likes of Flygon, Incineroar, and Raikou, as it can keep Porygon2 in favorable situations.
  • Powerful Fighting-types such as Heracross, Pangoro, and Lucario can take advantage of Porygon2's inability to generally threaten them. The aforementioned Togekiss and Galarian Weezing fare well against Heracross and Pangoro, while Jellicent can handle Lucario. In turn, Porygon2 can easily handle most Toxtricity variants and other Electric types.

Other Options
=============

Toxic is a decent option for breaking down Pokemon like Milotic, Rhyperior, and Raikou, mitigating their long-term impact against Porygon2's teammates. However, given that Porygon2 is often on more offensive teams, matches are usually too short for the damage to really cripple its targets. offensive set is less passive but worse pivot so

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Setup Sweepers**: Even with a Download Boost, bulky setup sweepers like Cosmic Power Metagross and Calm Mind Reuniclus can easily set up on Porygon2's face with little repercussion, and potentially snowballing from there.

**Entry Hazards**: Being unable to hold Heavy-Duty Boots and constantly pivoting with Teleport makes Porygon2 vulnerable to hazard damage, forcing it to recover more often and thus making it significantly more passive.

**Pivots**: Despite Porygon2's great bulk, pivots like Xurkitree and Flygon can take advantage of it with Volt Switch and U-turn, reversing the momentum of the match and leaving Porygon2 vulnerable.

**Knock Off**: Without Eviolite, Porygon2 makes for a far worse pivot and blanket check, leaving the rest of the team unable to depend on it.
