I'll be hosting a tournament in Augsburg, Germany.
If you are interested, you are welcome to post here. I will add more concrete information when I see that there are people seriously interested in going there.
When: August 28 to August 30, 2009
Where: Augsburg, Germany
Like Summer Jam 2007 and 2008 and Easter Comes Early Tournament 2006, Summer Jam 2009 will take place at the seminary rooms of the "Wasserwacht" in Augsburg-Haunstetten (can be seen here, click "Räumlichkeiten") These seminary rooms consist of a big room where the tourneys will be held, a well-equipped kitchen, a spacious dining room and separated toilets for women and men. Furthermore it has a big terace with seating accomodations and grassland to our disposal as well as a swimming lake to possibly cool down in between the heat of the battles =D
What will be played?
There will be a Stadium Mode (3on3)-tournament. For those of you not knowing, you have six team Pokémon and, playing PBR, before the battle you get to see your opponents' team and have to choose three PKMN to battle with then. We will keep this mode the whole tourney so it will definitely not be standard 6on6 in the finals.
Format will be pools or Swiss in the preliminary round with the overall eight best players advancing to a single-elimination bracket.
Furthermore we will have Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart Wii fun tournaments. Actually we used to play 2on2 in teams but we dropped it this years because PBR does not feature 2on2 teams (four players).
Entry fee and prizes:
There is NO cash prize. The best three players in the Stadium Mode tournament will receive medals and the victor wins a trophy in addition. Apart of this there won't be anything else to win. It is not our spirit to play for cash in a game that is mostly luck-based.
The entry fee is 20€ which actually have to be paid in advance. Because a money transfer from other countries to Germany would probably be too expensive, I'm willing to make an exception here and having you pay the entry fee when arriving at the location.
The entry fee is used to rent the location for three full days.
How to get there:
More info will be edited as interest is pronounced here. Munich airport is much closer to Augsburg (around 45 minutes away by train) but if you wanna get housed at my place (see below), you'd have to fly to Nuremberg.
Housing before / at / after the tournament:
You can sleep at the tournament location as well - on the floor, though, so don't forget to bring camping mats and sleeping bags.
Before and after the tournament I would be able to house ~3 people at my place, in case you need housing to get better flight connections. Housing at my place will include food, Bavarian beer (=D) and travels to and from Augsburg. Notice that I collect people only at Nuremberg Airport, not at Munich's.
