A lot of high quality smogon users and even some who use showdown talk down upon the ladders we have for the 1-5 metagames. In this article, I'll go through each of the OU ladders (maybe some other bw/dpp ladders) and separate facts from fiction, as well as tips for how to do well on the ladder and encourage new users to ladder. I have laddered just about every old gen ladder on the simulator, except gen 5 nu and lc and gen 4 lc
