Wasting no time, the battlers release their Pokemon, ready for the imminent showdown. As if on cue, while Gemini Taurus's Gigalith lumbers onto the field, a mighty gale whips the arena, lifting the loose ground into a grimy maelstrom of dirt and debris. Seemingly unfazed, nightblitz's Shiinotic holds its ground. waiting patiently as the opposing titan launches a volley of pointed rocks from its orbiting arsenal. Stricken unusually hard, Shiinotic's body warps and flickers with the stones' impact, momentarily vanishing before a vulpine silhouette appears behind Gigalith, made visible amidst the sand by its pale blue aura, striking a powerful blow with reversed power. Revealed to the arena, nightblitz's Zoroark retreats to its corner, ready a dense orb of ki for its next attack. However, Zoroark's vision is obscured by the present wall of airborne particles, causing its attack to veer off target and strike a wall beneath the stands, exploding in a shower of metal and sparkling energy. Taking advantage of its favor, Gigalith pins Zororark under a mass of falling rocks, giving it the opportunity to charge a second volley of jagged pebbles. Nevertheless, Zoroark is able to ready itself once more, using Gigalith's barrage to loosen its tomb and break free with a mighty leap. Zoroark then dives from the sky, landing feetfirst with an enormous explosion of ki that momentarily disperses the arena's veil of sand. nightblitz is faced with a slight numerical disadvantage, but his Pokemon's advantages in speed and trickery may very will clinch the matchup. Pallid after the fall of his signature fashion inspiration, nightblitz ends the tomfoolery and reveals his Shiinotic to the crowd, emblazoned with a knotted ball of red twine. Aware of his faltering lead, Gemini Taurus escapes the futile showdown by switching into his Pajantom, whose dreary nightmare oozes into the field amidst the sand, writhing and condensing until it has manifested a draconic apparition. Apparently terrified, Shiinotic pleads with its trainer, who finally relents and calls his third Pokemon, a lopsided cephalopod adorned with the same crimson charm. Confident in the emotional manipulation bolstered by its trinket, and fully prepared for an ectoplasmic assault, Malamar strides toward Pajantom, certain that its advances will find their mark. Unfortunately, Pajantom's terror is capable of flight, and its buoyant form carries the vulnerable master silently into the sky. Confused by this development, Malamar drops its flirtatious facade and scans the arena, checking the air above just in time to see a misty form descending through the sand -- but not soon enough to avoid the collision.

With its foe staggered, the phantom menace lunges forward, latching onto a vulnerable section of Malamar's torso and draining the life from its body. Caught flat-footed, the impact sends both Pokemon careening toward the arena wall, but, in its panic, Malamar inverts its posture with a jerk, flinging Pajantom's body with devastating force. Unable to detach quickly enough for defense, Pajantom's spirit fails to prevent the impact, snapping back in pain and releasing its deathly grip as the sleeping dragon becomes embedded in the wall. Before neatly righting itself, Malamar rolls to a stop, at which point it notices that the hostile apparition has seemingly disappeared. Seizing the opportunity, Malamar launches itself with a drilling kick into Pajantom's chest. As if forced out by the impact, Pajantom's monster pours from its skull, reforming into a demonic visage whose horror is dreadfully enhanced by its sickly green flames that illuminate the conflict. Trapped by its own pin, Malamar is unable to act in time, and the astral demon plunges its fangs into the opening atop Malamar's skull, gruesomely exsanguinating the quickly-withering squid.

As the sand begins to thin, the result of this conflict is brought into view: freed from the wall, Pajantom's spirit prowls menacingly around its bruised body, as if goading an attack from the fallen Malamar. However, this response will never come; as the shriveled squid lies lifelessly on the ground, its hollow, dull eyes evince the difficulty with which it clings to its existence, lost to the ceaseless nightmares of its wrecked subconscious. The pitiful state of nightblitz's Pokemon is contrasted by its bright red tie, which seems to stand out with a weeping remorse amidst the senseless carnage. nightblitz has lost his second Pokemon, and appears to be in dire shape. However, Gemini Taurus's Pajantom has begun to falter, and its present exhaustion will stymie another attempt to swap forces. Stay tuned.

Through a gap in the storm, a red beam of light can be seen; nightblitz has recalled his fainted Malamar, and the ensuing flash of blue light signals that he has chosen its replacement. Forced to stand proud, Shiinotic enters the arena, burdened with the task of avenging its comrade and salvaging its master's hopes of victory. Thus, the scene unfolds; the bedazzled fungus faces off against a creature born of its living nightmares, visible only by the glint of its eyes in the dust, nervously anticipating the first strike. After an unusually long wait, Shiinotic begins to realize that the dragon's offense has been delayed, and so it decides to strike immediately to deter a devastating opening. Sparkling with an ethereal pink mist, Shiinotic projects a beam of celestial energy through the shrouded air, striking its concealed opponent directly in the torso. Snarling with rage, Pajantom's spirit snaps back to the fight, vanishing into the sand and circling the stadium. Out of the chaos lunges the monster, startling the disturbed Shiinotic and thwarting its futile attempt to wheel around in defense. Finding an opportunity, Pajantom sinks its haunted fangs into Shiinotic's upper body, gouging and tearing a chunk of flesh from the base of the mushroom's neck as its victim cries out in anguish.

Deeply disturbed by their first conflict, Shiinotic's fears seem to have been realized. Despite its best efforts, the brave fairy's strongest attacks are incapable of dispelling its foe in a timely manner, and it will surely perish in a head-on confrontation. This psychological defeat is strengthened by the failure of Shiinotic's defenses; reliant on its spores for defense against predators, Shiinotic instinctually released a cloud during Pajantom's attack, but the maleficent phantom was completely unaffected, lacking a tangible form to which the spores could attach. Thus, in hopeless terror sat Shiinotic, panicking in the grasp of of its opponent. However, a sudden flash of inspiration can revitalize even the gloomiest morale, and such a connection formed as the pained flora confronted its terror.

Gritting its teeth, Shiinotic charges its blast once more, taking aim at its opponent. In a brilliant display of fey sparks, Shiinotic then releases its energy, sending a radiant burst of multicolored magic through the clouds, completely missing its parasitic antagonist. Although initially unfazed, content to ascribe the misfire to a fit of paranoia, the vampiric spirit soon realizes the true danger; after witnessing the combined failures of its trainer's orders, Shiinotic has discovered a way to guarantee the riddance of the draconic demon, focusing all of its power into a blinding smite directed at Pajantom's unguarded body. Releasing Shiinotic from its clutches, Panjantom's spirit hurtles after Shiinotic's attack, utilizing its summoner's recall to cut off the beam before it reaches Pajantom. Throwing itself in front of its body, Pajantom's spirit blocks the nocturne laser, sending a shower of sparks and mist out in all directions. Free of its captor, Shiinotic takes advantage of its reprieve, increasing its concentration and summoning every ounce of its strength to amplify its continued attack.

It is under this prolonged duress that Pajantom's spirit finally begins to falter, its form now showing luminous cracks and fractures as its form wavers, thinning and expanding despite its best efforts to maintain its guard. The beast struggles to defend itself, its tenuous grasp on the material plane faltering with every passing moment, until, with a final groan of hatred, its fate is sealed. In a radiant bloom, Pajantom's spirit explodes into a purple gaseous vapor, consumed by the terrific beam against which it fought so hard to defend. Repulsed into Pajantom's mind, the destruction of its astral guardian wakes the tiny dragon, whose eyes open just moments before the heavenly ray engulfs its body in a calamitous flash, creating a mighty gale that dispels the brunt of the sandstorm. As the debris settles in the now clear arena, the final verdict is made clear: battered and shaken, Shiinotic stands triumphantly across from its comatose opponent, whose fearsome slumber has been replaced with a stricter loss of conciousness. Indeed, the bruised dragon lies motionless, eyes wide open, its breathing barely noticeable. As the crowd erupts with cheer, a faint roaring is lost to the chaos, although astute spectators will notice its origin: behind Pajantom's glazed eyes, a dull glow can be witnessed, flickering and roaming as if searching for an exit. Closer examination would reveal the miniaturized spirit of Pajantom, furiously attacking the recesses of Pajantom's mind in a battle-crazed frenzy as it desperately tries to return to battle. However, the truth will not be known to the average observer, as the blue flash of Gemini Taurus's hand extracts the damned duo after a brief moment of pause.

nightblitz has finally felled his first opponent, and holds a minor advantage in typing and practical HP. In the coming rounds, we will see if he can produce enough chaos to outsmart his opponent, whose unharmed third will undoubtedly prove difficult to defeat. Stay tuned.

The lull proving temporary, Shiinotic's respite ends in a flash as Gemini Taurus releases its final opponent, a chirping chimera that crackles with electricity as it crouches in preparation for the inevitable action. Hungrily eyeing its prey, Dracozolt spews a stream of amber flames onto Shiinotic's injured form, the searing heat of which cauterizes Shiinotic's wounds and leaves it in a state of mild shock. Fighting its misfortune, Shiinotic prepares to fire another wave of lunar magic, releasing an iridescent blast of sparks that explodes into a wild array of shimmering colors upon striking Dracozolt's resilient hide. Miffed at its opponent's stamina, Dracozolt quickly scans its surroundings, and, noticing the deteriorating condition of the stadium, stomps several spots on the ground, delivering calculated seismic waves that dislodge a large chunk of rebar above Shiinotic. Despite its dwindling health, Shiinotic lurches sideways, but its reaction speed is insufficient to avoid the danger in time, pinning its lower body beneath a stony prison.

Crying out in pain, Shiinotic desperately tries to free itself, but its efforts are to no avail. Engrossed with the aroma of fear and blood, Dracozolt charges across the arena, sprinting toward Shiinotic at a breakneck pace. Realizing the danger of its predicament, Shiinotic turns to face Dracozolt, blowing a phantasmal wave of energy across the field that leaches its foes energy. Nevertheless, Dracozolt remains determined to strike down Shiinotic, forcing the mushroom to gather energy and fire yet another beam of light, its desperation mounting in the face of imminent doom. Shaking off the attack, Dracozolt leaps across the field, its massive legs propelling it at extreme velocity to glide several meters toward its prey. Twisting around while in midair, Dracozolt lands feetfirst on Shiinotic's large head, imparting deadly force and crushing the trapped fungus as a plume of defensive spores coat the dragon's face and legs. Victoriously, Dracozolt leans forward to enjoy its feast, yet the mighty dino's spoils are interrupted as it falls to the ground, slipping into a light slumber and saving the unconcscious Shiinotic from permanent damage.

Basking in the roar of a satisfied crowd, Gemini Taurus has won this battle, albeit the conclusion seemed inevitable from the start. More impressively, however, this victory was achieved without losing more than a third of one's team, calling to attention the importance of turn order and matchup.
