Cycle 18: Crobat

One of the more recent additions to the roster, Crobat's blistering Speed tier and vast utility movepool makes for quite the fearsome offensive pivot in today's metagame. However, the sky can only be the limit for such an underexplored one. Can you discover its next best set?

Crobat @ Heavy-Duty Boots :Heavy-Duty Boots: / Black Sludge :Black Sludge:
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hurricane / Air Slash
- Sludge Bomb
- Heat Wave
- Nasty Plot

Due to Crobat having minimal coverage as a physical attacker and no setup moves, it's commonly walled by Steel-types and physical walls. Although, as a special attacker it gets Nasty Plot and Heat Wave, allowing it to overcome those flaws and catch walls such as Skarmory, Aegislash, ans Mega Altaria off-guard. Hurricane is it's most powerful STAB move and can be really hard to switch into after a Nasty Plot, Air Slash can also be used in this slot due to better accuracy although it's significantly weaker. Sludge Bomb is Crobat's second STAB move and basically targets Fairy-types that expect a Brave Bird or U-turn. Heat Wave is for Steel-types that resist both of Crobat's STABs. Nasty Plot is the setup move.

Modified Pivot :heavy-duty boots:

Crobat @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 24 HP / 252 SpA / 232 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Hurricane
- U-turn
- Roost

Note for the spread: outspeed +1 252 speed evs Adamant Mega altaria, Hurricane is needed so that crobat actually deals sufficient damage to amoonguss and tripping scizor quite a bit on it's way in as air slash is just straight up miserable with 75 BP coming from crobat's 70 SpA, which is even worse when you compare it to brave bird's 120 BP coming from 90 Atk.

What it has over the banned set:
I) Ability to spread poison with sludge bomb, which cripples everything that rely on leftovers whereas mons that have actual recovery moves that usually tries to switch in such as mence and hippo are forced to heal more often, causing exploitable chances while denying attempts of electric types trying to take a brave bird or at worse just gettinig u-turned on.

II) Not as easily forced to roost since only u-turn is punishable by flame body moltres and rocky helmet mons such as cobalion, with brave bird recoil adding up very quickly in the long run.

Banned set's advantage:
Taunt greatly annoys defensive mons such as swampert and hippowdon, and brave bird is stronger compared to hurricane when you compare it with targets that have nearly the same physical and special bulk
252 Atk Crobat Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mew: 153-181 (37.8 - 44.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 SpA Crobat Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mew: 120-142 (29.7 - 35.1%) -- 19.9% chance to 3HKO

Yea ik mew is banned but it's just an example.
