Welcome to Victim of the Week! The project in which each week, I will present a Pokémon that must either check, or counter.

Submission Cycles last from Sunday to Friday.
Voting Cycles last from Friday to Sunday. When voting, you must vote for a check AND a counter that has been submitted!

Standard Rules

1. When selecting a Pokemon, be sure to categorise it as either the following.
Pokémon A checks Pokémon B if, when Pokémon A is given a free switch into Pokémon B, Pokémon A can win every time, even under the worst case scenario, without factoring in hax.
Pokémon A counters Pokémon B if Pokémon A can manually switch into Pokémon B and still win every time, even under the worst case scenario, without factoring in hax.
2. Only post Pokemon sets that are viable and actually used. Try to stick to the mons currently on the National Dex OU Viability Rankings thread.
3. Reservations are allowed, however if you don't complete your post within 24 hours someone else is free to take your Pokemon.
4. You may correct people, but obviously be nice while doing so.
5. Calcs are incredibly helpful in demonstrating effectiveness, but not necessary.
6. Give explanations. They do not have to be long.
7. Voting after submitting is permitted, but you will not be allowed to vote for your own Pokemon.

Have fun Submitting!

- Fire Fang
- Thunder Punch
- Play Rough
(sd sets work asw)
While it cant afford to come in on taxel more than once, it doenst take too much from knock as well as having the typing alongside intimidate to switch in safely once. From there, mawile is free to start clicking buttons. This is a CHECK to weavile.

Counter: :Toxapex: :Rocky Helmet:

Toxapex @ Rocky Helmet
Level: 100
Bold Nature
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 140 Def / 116 SpD
- Scald
- Recover
- Knock Off
- Haze

Switch in only fearing knock off critical hit, recover after 2 knock offs due to item being removed thus the second knock off being weaker, and you are mostly safe while weavile has already lost 1/6 of it's health doing damage that's gonna get healed off, you can aim for a scald burn on the switch in or try to knock off. Calcs below show that only critical hit can ruin this strat. even if you are forced out on the first recover, regenerator will heal you enough so that you can take more knock offs later that are significantly weaker compared to the first one you took. Add in Stealth Rocks and the weavile is on a fast ticking timer to break through pex.

252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 140+ Def Toxapex: 129-153 (42.4 - 50.3%) -- 91.8% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 140+ Def Toxapex: 87-103 (28.6 - 33.8%) -- 99.3% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock

Max rolls: 153 + 103 + 38(Stealth Rock Chip) = 294 HP Lost/304 Max HP

Mega scizor as counter
:ss/scizor-mega:

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Def / 244 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Roost

weavile does zero damage and scizor can sword dance or just bullet punch
calc :
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Knock Off vs. 248 HP / 16+ Def Scizor-Mega: 102-120 (29.7 - 34.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
0 Atk Technician Scizor-Mega Bullet Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Weavile: 260-308 (92.5 - 109.6%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 68 Def / 192 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Taunt
- Scald
- Draining Kiss

Tapu Fini can switch in without worrying about any of Weavile's attacks and can recover HP with Draining Kiss, threaten it with a burn if the Terrain just ended the turn it switched in or just set up on it. This is a counter.

Urshifu-Rapid-Strike (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Surging Strikes
- Close Combat
- Aqua Jet
- U-turn

(Sorry if i was spamming urshifu-r in natdex projects)
This is a counter, it could switch on every attack weavile has, he could switch on triple axel and only take 48,3% max, and after that it could either kill with one of the stabs or use u-trun (full hp weavile could barely survive it) and use weavile or whatever weavile was switching out to as a free switch in to one of its teammates, if weavile koffed, koff will be weak after the scarf got koffed and shifu-r could again use one of his stabs or u-turn.

I'm here with a quirky little set today, this is designed to be a counter.
I stand here humbly before you today, as I would like to propose that the perfect weavile counter is not a fairy type, a steel type, or even a fighting type, no it is mega-slowbro.
:ss/slowbro-mega:

252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro-Mega: 144-170 (36.5 - 43.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Slowbro can live a band weavile knock off with ease and slack off any damage, and shell armor means even hax can't get past mslowbro's impenetrable shell.
Scald or future sight(your choice) stop mega slowbro from being overly passive like something like tapu fini, and teleport gives mslowbro momentum like mega scizor, without the threat of magnet pull magnezone.
This is unrelated to the project cause it's focused on band weavile, but body press easily ohko's weavile stopping sd weav from posing any threat. Body press also just does a lot of damage and when combined with scald can let slowbro even break teams to some success.

Buzzwole @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 Spe
Impish Nature
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake
- Roost

Submitting this as a check. Buzzwole's supreme physical bulk allows it to easily survive 2 Banded Triple Axels from Weavile and KO back, only downside however is that you risk getting worn down into Axel range by hazards if Weavile Knocks the boots but other than that it works nicely in a vacuum.

:bw/slowbro:
Slowbro @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Scald
- Future Sight
- Teleport
- Slack Off

Threatens it with heavy damage + burn and can switch out to bring in another teammate for free. Not 2HKO even after rocks. Counter.

Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 12 Def / 248 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Submitting this as a Check, AV Tang can easily tank 2 Ice Punches from MPert with Rocks up and easily KO Pert back, it can also stand up to other rain threats such as Ash Gren and Manaphy to find opportunities to stick into Rain teams as a whole with Knock and Sludge Bomb Poisons throughout the match which is great.

Check: :Kartana: :Choice Scarf:

Kartana @ Choice Scarf
Level: 100
Jolly Nature
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Leaf Blade
- Knock Off
- Sacred Sword
- Smart Strike

Mega Swampert is on rain teams most of the times, so kart is already having an ok MU, being able to decide whether to knock off the zapdos/ferro switching in or generally force out the mega swampert. usually this doesn't work but the mega swampert above is adamant nature, which doesn't outspeed scarf kartana under rain.

Gastrodon-East (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Toxic
- Recover
- Earthquake
- Scald

this is a counter, absorbs liquidation and flip turn, can switch on eq, then a cycle of using recover until mega pert switches out.
252+ Atk Swampert-Mega Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gastrodon: 183-216 (42.9 - 50.7%) -- 2.3% chance to 2HKO
