SS OU NASTY PLOT ROTOM WASH OFFENSE PEAK 2049 ELO #3 ON SS OU LADDER

:ss/Rotom-Wash::ss/Weavile: :ss/Landorus-Therian: :ss/Heatran: :ss/Tangrowth: :ss/Melmetal:

Second RMT this month, but either way, I bring a neat Pokémon to the table. I use an offensive Rotom Wash set, that can set up and even break past checks like Ferrothorn, and Blissey. This set is very unexpected, and can steal games, as the opponent isn't expecting it. The set is lacking in counters, meaning it's a great surprise, but also dangerous threat.

TEAMBUILDING PROCESS:

:Rotom-Wash: :Weavile:
I started with wanting be able to hit both dual types that resist Rotom's STABS, for super effective. Considering those are Dragon and Grass, Weavile fits the job nicely, due to being splash able and well performing. Weavile is one of your main breakers on this squad.

:Rotom-Wash: :Weavile: :Landorus-Therian:
I expected myself to need hazard removal, and a ground type. Landorus will fit and do it's job. There is not to much to be explained. Landorus will help hold the team together, and can U turn out to help bring in our breakers.

:Rotom-Wash: :Weavile: :Landorus-Therian: :Heatran:
Considering our breakers do not enjoy the presence of Ferrothorn, I figured something to hit steels for super effective damage would be good. I run the offensive balloon Heatran set here. Heatran also gives us a rocks setter, letting Landorus run defog.

:Rotom-Wash: :Weavile: :Landorus-Therian: :Heatran: :Tangrowth:
Tangrowth is the physical blanket of the team, being able to wall Urshifu, wall Kartana and so on. I run Giga Drain for STAB, Focus Blast to help hit Ferrothorn, Heatran, Melmetal etc, and Knock Off as good item removal. The 4th move is Sleep Power to help cripple the opposition.

:Rotom-Wash: :Weavile: :Landorus-Therian: :Heatran: :Tangrowth: :Melmetal:
Lastly we have Melmetal, a Pokémon great at taking special hits from the likes of Dragapult, Tapu Lele, Tapu Koko etc. I run the standard AV set for maximum SpDef eating potential. Melmetal is your defensive steel, and fits well with Heatran and Landorus to cover up it's weaknesses.

The Pokémon:
:ss/Rotom-Wash: :Leftovers:
Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 92 SpA / 160 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Pain Split
- Nasty Plot
The speed evs on Rotom is to hit 272 speed. This speed point let's you outspeed Timid Seismitoad, a lot of Zapdos sets, Volcanion, Modest Heatran, etc. The bulk evs is to let you set up easier. Adding the 4 extra defense evs shifts the role on Urshifu and Zapdos Close Combats which will come in handy. Pain Split let's you take hp from the target, while restoring your own. This is key when setting up on non Toxic Blissey. You can subsitute out Pain Split for Will O Wisp if you want to deal with Ferrothorn better, but Pain Split is more consistent across the board.

:ss/Weavile: :Choice Band:
Weavile @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Triple Axel
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick
Weavile pairs well with Rotom, being able to deal with problematic Pokémon like Garchomp and Offensive Zapdos. Weavile enjoys Rotom's ability to deal with the bulky waters that make it suffer. I run Choice Band, as I want room to run Low Kick to hit opposing Weavile, and Choice Band is more consistent in the current metagame in my eyes. Weavile is Weavile, not to much to go about.

:ss/Landorus-Therian: :Leftovers:
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Defog
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Toxic
The SpDef set returns. Landorus will do the basic things it normally does. It will U-Turn out to bring in your breakers, Defog to clear hazards, EQ for stab etc. I run Toxic over Knock Off on this set, as the team already has 2 Knock Off users, and Toxic is great at crippling the opposing Landorus. Landorus is the pokemon that probably needs the least amount of elaboration.

:ss/Heatran: :Air Balloon:
Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Eruption
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
Offensive Heatran, one of my current favourites. Heatran is great on this team, as Rotom can help handle the annoying water types for Heatran, while Heatran can help deal with Ferrothorn and Rillaboom. I run timid on this team, as I need to outspeed Volcanion, and opposing modest Heatran. Heatran also appreaciates Weavile for being able to take down Garchomp and Dragonite. Heatran fits well on this team, and can help hold our triangle of breakers together.

:ss/Tangrowth: :Rocky Helmet:
Tangrowth @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Focus Blast
- Sleep Powder
Tangrowth is amazing at walling the opposing Kartana, Urshifu, Garchomp Buzzwole etc, which could give our team troubles otherwise. Tangrowth is a more sturdy wall than for say Ferrothorn, which is why I chose it over Ferro. Tangrowth is also amazing at removing Ferrothorn. Focus Blast does heavy damage, while Knock Off removes it's item. Sleep Powder helps slow down annoying opponents like Clefable and Garchomp. Tangrowth pairs well with Melmetal, Heatran and Landorus to take hits efficiently.

:ss/Melmetal: :Assault Vest:
Melmetal @ Assault Vest
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 120 HP / 116 Atk / 252 SpD / 20 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Double Iron Bash
- Thunder Punch
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake
Lastly we have Melmetal, a great wall that can take on the Special attackers. Melmetal not only can take hits, but can fire back hard with it's good coverage moves, and ridiculously strong STAB. I run the standard AV set, but add 8 more speed evs, to outspeed opposing Melmetals who think they are outspeeding AV by 1. Melmetal is often important to keep healthy against Pokémon like Tapu Lele and Dragapult. Melmetal goes well with the defensive core of this team, giving it a spot on the team.

Threats:
:ss/Nidoking:
Here we go again, Nidoking can scare this team at team preview. Your best strategy is the keep Rotom Wash healthy, and make sure Weavile is alive. Heatran can beat it but requires it's balloon. The matchup is more tolerable than my usual team but it's still troublesome.
:ss/Seismitoad: :ss/Volcanion: :ss/Kingdra:
The water special attackers are difficult, as our water resist is Tangrowth. Keeping Rotom healthy in these matchups is important. As for Kingdra you have to play very well and make correct switches in order to win. Kingdra is for sure the most difficult of these.
:ss/Zapdos-Galar:
Close Combat does about 48% on average to Tangrowth, meaning it's isn't the best at taking the hit. Landorus can't come in, as Defiant. Keeping Weavile in this matchup is mandatory. Probably the hardest matchup with debatably Kingdra.
:ss/Blacephalon:
Our special wall is weak to fire, making it not a safe switch in. While Heatran can take fire moves, it can't take Shadow Ball, and vise versa for Melmetal. Rotom can take a hit and kill it back. This matchup is difficult but not the worst here.
:ss/Arctozolt:
Melmetal can somewhat deal with him, but Melmetal can get chipped and lose. Rotom can take a hit and deal heavy damage with Hydro Pump. Heatran lives a hit and can threaten a KO, we have some things going in our direction, but switching in can be difficult.

yooo nice team!! Props for using Tangrowth, as its one of my fav mons. It's one of few walls that can actually threaten Fini, other than defensive Melm or Zapdos. love the team, nice work!

Very nice team! I love the offensive Rotom, cool mon to build ground! And Tangrowth handels the offensive grasses switching in to revenge Rotom perfectly. Congrats on the peak!
