Felt like doing predicts, these are from my personal opinions and I tried to do them from an unbiased standpoint.
Highlight matches:
SS: Star vs TJ
SS: Shiba vs crying
SM: Attribute vs Isza
BW: Amukamara vs Sabella
SS Bo3: Maki vs Bushtush
SS Bo3: tMoi vs jonfilch
Predicts:
Meteor Falls Miniors (0) vs. Bell Tower Braves (0)
SS: Wanka vs
pas_touchao - wanka’s good at pokemon and an overall better player. I’d favor him in an oldgen but he isn’t as familiar with SS and pas_tuchao got pretty far in a seasonal and overall plays pretty well so gotta give credit where it’s due. 40/60
SS:
Accel vs Gray - SS Monotype is similar to SS UU in terms of how the tier is structured and Accel is a better player than Gray. 70/30
SS Bo3: Maki
vs Bushtush - both are good players, highlight of the series. Bushtush is slightly better player than Maki but Maki’s ceiling can also be quite high and seems to be decently motivated after his win against Floss last week. 50/50
SM:
Zap vs Mateeus - Mateeus has a high playing ceiling but his nerves get in the way sometimes. If he plays with a clear mind he can play like Monotype ABR but otherwise Zap is favored here due to playing consistency. 70/30
ORAS: Kev vs
Toadow - Toadow is slightly a better player than Kev. He plays pretty consistency while Kev’s game last week was a bit messy. 45/55
BW:
Amukamara vs Sabella - This may be a bit of a surprise but I feel Sabella need to pick things up a bit. He’s definitely one of the best players in the entire pool, but being 0-2 may shake his mental up a bit and he may have trouble facing another solid player known for playing BW formats. This could really go either way and is definitely a game to watch. 55/45
Goldenrod Gengars (0) vs. Dreamyard Darkrais (0)
SS:
WhiteQueen vs EviGaro - The Queenpin is both the better player and very motivated. Not really much else to say here, WhiteQueen’s one of the best players on the site and is very innovative in the builder alongside Chaitanya polishing team choices. 80/20
SS: Star
vs TJ - A highlight of the week, both are great players here and have good building support from Chaitanya and Floss respectively. 50/50
SS Bo3:
Chaitanya vs Floss - already happened. I would have favored Chaitanya here even though Floss is good because I think he’s a both a better player and a more innovative player than Floss as of now. 60/40
SM: Vodoom vs
dahli - peachy is the more calculated SM player, both in the builder and playing wise in game. Vodoom is probably going to recycle a Chaitanya a team and call it a day but dahli’s prep and play seems to have more depth. 30/70
ORAS:
Typhlosion48 vs S1nn0hC0nfirm3d - Typhlosion48 is very good at Pokemon. He’s extremely calculated when playing and Chaitanya’s ORAS support is superior here. 80/20
BW: avarice
vs Wait2Seconds - Both are good players, this can either go really way. 50/50
Fontaine Finis (0) vs. Tohjo Falls Thunders (0)
SS:
Shiba vs crying - This is going to be close. Both Shiba and crying are good players, with Shiba going 8-1 last MWP and winning UU circuit recently and Crying dabbling in many tiers across the site. I’m favoring Shiba here because of his building support and familiarity with the tier as a Monotype veteran but this could go either way. 60/40
SS: Bouki vs
Trichotomy - Trichotomy is the better player by a noticeable margin so he has a solid edge here. However, Bouki should be very motivated after beating Xiri last week and with proper building support from Plunder and style.css, he can turn the upset. 20/80
SS Bo3: tMoi vs
jonfilch - This is going to be a close series. Originally I was not really familiar with tmoi, only knowing he won a seasonal (which is impressive) but I really liked how he played last week. Uses his timer, plays overall pretty consistently; he has a lot of potential to become the next best thing. However, jonfilch to me is just the better player here; going 8-0 in SS in MWP should speak for itself and his playing caliber is SPL worthy otherwise. He’s known for quickly picking up random tiers and doing well in them and has dabbled in many other formats aside from Monotype. Definitely a highlight to watch. 45/55
SM: Pak vs
QWILY - Pak is great but QWILY has looked better in recent times, especially with Pak taking a short break from Pokemon and QWILY having momentum. 40/60
ORAS:
TheWyvernKing vs Kaguya Lys - I saw this guy load the same Bug team he’s been using for a year and farm Mega Charizard Y Flying with Vivillon so he’s definitely the main character of this tournament. All jokes aside, this could really go either way, I just think Kaguya Lys is prone to misplaying more than his opponent, so I’m giving TheWyvernKing the slight edge here. 51/49
BW:
crashy vs Meta - Meta has looked good recently, doing well in a BW OU seasonals and taking down Sabella last week in MPL. However, it’s hard to bold against Crashy in BW, and he’ll bring something fire to take on Meta as he’s shown to be very innovative in the tier. 55/45
Good luck everyone, and remember to have fun.
