Victini @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive / Hasty Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- U-turn
- Blue Flare / Trick

Victini is known to be one of the more common staples on Psychic along with Hoopa-U. It's main role in support is to create momentum with U-Turn for Hoopa to take advantage of increasing both Hoopa's longevity and effectiveness. Victini can also cripple annoying Steel types such as Bisharp with its coverage that would normally make it harder to find an opening to send in Hoopa.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 48 Atk / 104 Def / 108 Spe
Impish Nature
- Body Slam
- Iron Head
- Wish
- Protect

Hoopa tends to struggle with basically any fast wall breaker. rachi provides a lot of support for hoopa as it is able to sponge hits early and mid game while dishing out para's to slow down those wall breakers. With those fast wall breakers being paralyzed, it can give hoopa free reign to find its way in later or mid game to just hammer away and and make itself more of a threat than it already is. Wish is there for longevity, but again, the main goal with this set is to make hoopa an even bigger threat with the power of yellow magic.

Gardevoir-Mega @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Synchronize
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psyshock
- Taunt
- Focus Blast
- Hyper Voice

A pretty standard set, but an amazing partner, this Pokemon helps Hoopa on both dark and ghost match ups as well as other teams. Hyper Voice completely obliterates Mandibuzz and Sableye Mega on dark and ghost, allowing hoopa to spam Hyperspace Fury or Dark pulse against ghost,or drain punch against dark if Gardevoir dies. Access to taunt allows it to completely shut down Utility Mons like Zapdos and Skarmory, Porygon 2 and Chansey, and allow for Hyper Voice spam, giving Hoopa room to finish off teams. Additionally, Hoopa cover's Gardevoir's weaknesses as well depending on the set, as Life Orb mixed shuts down any wall or Balanced team, allowing Gardevoir to clean up. Hoopa also beats Aegislash, a prominant team-member on ghost, and allows for gardevoir to have breathing room. Both of these Pokemon are good in breaking balanced teams in monotype, but sadly, they both lose because of their mediocre and under speed tiers. Anything that's physical and faster or carries hard hitting special or physical attacks will beat them.

Slowbro @ Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Thunder Wave
- Flamethrower
- Slack Off

Hoopa-U is notorious for having low Defense. Thankfully Slowbro here has Defense in spades. Slowbro can easily switch into any neutral attack thrown in Hoopa's direction and threaten a Thunder Wave. Hoopa's main weaknesses are priority users and Choice Scarf users. Scarf users rarely scratch Slowbro, and priority users do even less. Slowbro spreading paralysis is also a huge boon for Hoopa-U, who can be troubled by its low Speed. In turn, Hoopa-U sports a respectable special-sided bulk, that can occasionally also switch into special attacks aimed at Slowbro, although that should be done with mild caution.

Lanturn @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
- Volt Switch
- Scald
- Thunder Wave / Toxic
- Heal Bell

Absorbs Electric-type attacks for Azumarill, gives safe switches with Volt Switch, cripples Pokemon with Thunder Wave, making Azumarill outspeed them and deal massive damage easily or wear bulkier Pokemon with Toxic. Heal Bell helps if Azumarill is statused by Scald burn or Will-O-Wisp.

Sharpedo @ Sharpedonite
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Protect
- Hydro Pump
- Crunch
- Ice Fang

Sharpedo and Azumarill combine to make a pretty effective offensive core for water team. Azu's tend to run band on water and sharpedo benefits quite nicely from azu's early/mid game wall breaking ability. any wall that tries to wall azu will not enjoy holding banded huge power waterfalls and play roughs to the mouth, which can really open up things for sharpedo later in a battle. hydro pump is used to do 50%+ to skarm and to also do marginably more damage to shit like hippowdown.

good stuff. s/o scpinion for the pedo set inspiration

Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire]/Thunderbolt
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam/Power Gem
- Psyshock

I was torn between Gyarados and this, but this ultimately won. Starmie does wonders for Azumarill because of being a fast water type with good Special Attack, an unique movepool that it can use to counter Azumarill's weaknesses, and being a Venusaur Mega check thanks to Psychic typing and Psyshock. Hidden Power Fire + Hydro Pump has no switchin's for steel, which could potentially free up azumarill's banded waterfall spam, or Belly Drum set up. Power Gem could be a Zard Y counter, limiting sun turns and making stab Aqua Jet from Azumarill hurt more. Psyshock is the Venusaur Mega counter, and Thunderbolt could be used for Water Coverage. Ice Beam is good for dragon and flying coverage as well. This core loses to things like Zapdos, if it's not lowered by a lot of HP after rocks for starmie to 2hko with ice beam or pump or psychock,Scarf Energy Ball Latios, Breloom if not sash broken, and Bisharp potentially.

A couple things. 1, why Illuminate, was that an accident lol? 2, I think Psychic would be a much better option, since for checking Mega Venusaur, most are Physically Defensive, it's extremely rare to see one ran specially defensive. So, you can hit it harder.
