Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 88 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Pursuit
- Crunch
- Fire Punch / Earthquake / Ice Punch
Mega Tyranitar with Stealth Rock was picking up in viability towards the end of SM and was soon established as a very consistent user of the move due to its good bulk, various coverage moves, and access to Pursuit, which allows it to pressure many Defoggers that other Stealth Rock setters can't, including Latios and Latias. Thanks to Mega Tyranitar's potent offensive and defensive typing, it's capable of pressuring many Psychic-types, such as Mega Alakazam and Choice-locked Tapu Lele, it to capitalize on Pursuit even better. Unlike other Stealth Rock setters, Mega Tyranitar isn't passive due to its good Attack stat and various moves like Crunch and Earthquake. Mega Tyranitar can run a multitude of coverage moves, ranging from Fire Punch to Earthquake to even Ice Punch, which allows it to deal with Pokemon like Kartana, Toxapex, Gliscor, and Landorus-T, respectively. Mega Tyranitar fits on many team archetypes, ranging from bulky offense to balance builds.
