name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Volt Switch
move 2: Flash Cannon
move 3: Thunderbolt
move 4: Steel Beam
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Analytic
nature: Timid
evs: 36 Def / 236 SpA / 236 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Choice Scarf Magnemite is a powerful hit-and-run attacker that outspeeds almost the entire metagame. Volt Switch punishes opposing switch-ins with chip damage and grabs momentum. Steel Beam is Magnemite's most powerful attack, OHKOing most neutral targets after minimal prior damage. A Timid nature is preferred to ensure Magnemite outspeeds Choice Scarf Porygon. A Modest nature is a viable alternative that increases many of Magnemite's damage rolls. Analytic helps Magnemite punish the switches it forces, especially with Volt Switch.

Staryu is a great partner for Magnemite that can switch into Ponyta, Onix, and Mudbray and help wear down shared checks like Ferroseed. Fighting- and Poison-types are already present on most teams and can reliably switch into Magnemite's checks. Frail attackers like Ponyta and Abra appreciate Volt Switch to soften up foes and bring them in safely. This set is very easy to trap with Diglett or Trapinch, especially if it is locked into an Electric-type attack, so be very careful when facing teams with one of these Pokemon; a trapper of your own like Air Balloon Diglett or Trace Porygon thus makes a good partner.

[SET]
name: Berry Juice
move 1: Volt Switch
move 2: Flash Cannon
move 3: Recycle
move 4: Endure / Steel Beam / Thunderbolt
item: Berry Juice
ability: Sturdy
nature: Timid / Modest
evs: 36 Def / 236 SpA / 236 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Berry Juice Magnemite is a powerful offensive pivot that checks threats such as Porygon and Abra. Volt Switch lets Magnemite escape unfavorable matchups and generate momentum using its survivability and the switches it forces. Flash Cannon doesn't force Magnemite out and prevents Ground-types from freely switching in. Recycle in tandem with Berry Juice allows Magnemite to fully heal continually, giving it nearly unmatched longevity. Endure lets it survive any hit when chip damage deactivates Sturdy. Reaching 1 HP with either Endure or Sturdy activates Berry Juice, fully healing Magnemite and reactivating Sturdy. Recycle lets these cycles be used continually. Steel Beam is Magnemite's strongest attack, OHKOing almost everything that doesn't resist it, and its recoil can be mitigated by Berry Juice. Thunderbolt gives Electric-type coverage without forcing a switch and is slightly stronger than Flash Cannon.

Fighting- and Poison-types such as Mienfoo and Koffing are mandatory in order to absorb Knock Off for Magnemite, which makes Recycle fail. Staryu checks Ponyta and Mudbray and can remove Stealth Rock. Grookey is an excellent partner; it shares several Magnemite checks such as Ferroseed and Ponyta, can keep its Sturdy intact with Grassy Terrain, and can check Ground-types. Frail attackers such as Ponyta and Abra appreciate Magnemite getting them in safely with Volt Switch.

[SET]
name: Trapper
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Charge Beam
move 3: Flash Cannon
move 4: Rest
item: Salac Berry
ability: Magnet Pull
nature: Timid
evs: 36 Def / 236 SpA / 236 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This Magnemite set traps and sets up on the common Ferroseed, serving as a wincon. Substitute allows it to safely activate Salac Berry. Charge Beam boosts Magnemite's Special Attack and is weak enough to boost all the way to +6 before KOing Ferroseed. Flash Cannon provides almost perfect neutral coverage and OHKOes anything that doesn't resist it when boosted to +6. Rest allows Magnemite to PP stall Ferroseed and stay healthy for an eventual sweep.

Pokemon that can lure in Ferroseed, such as Porygon, Abra, and Water-types, are essential partners for setting up a Magnemite sweep; even if it is unable to fully sweep, these Pokemon appreciate Ferroseed being removed. Eviolite Diglett can reliably switch into Ferroseed, provide Memento support to ensure Ferroseed cannot break Magnemite's Substitute, break opposing Abra's Focus Sash, and guarantee Stealth Rock against teams with Natu. This set struggles against Pawniard teams, so your team should prepare to handle Pawniard by bringing a Fighting-type such as Mienfoo.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Magnemite can run a bulky Magnet Pull set that effectively removes both Ferroseed and Pawniard. This set holds an Eviolite and runs Iron Defense, Charge Beam, Flash Cannon, and Rest. However, it is not very useful outside of this specific role and is usually outclassed by Trapinch.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Ground-types are immune to Magnemite's Electric-type STAB moves, blocking its Volt Switch pivoting, and can OHKO it with their STAB attacks. Diglett and Trapinch can both trap Magnemite while outspeeding it or surviving an attack and OHKOing in return. Mudbray can come in on an Electric-type attack and threaten Magnemite's team with its powerful attacks.

**Fighting-types**: Fighting-types such as Mienfoo and Timburr OHKO Magnemite with their STAB attacks. They are especially threatening to Berry Juice variants due to Knock Off. However, they don't like taking a hit from Magnemite.

**Ponyta**: Ponyta outspeeds and OHKOes Berry Juice sets and outspeeds Choice Scarf sets after a Flame Charge. However, it is hit hard by Magnemite's Electric-type STAB attacks.

**Grass-types**: Grass-types are often an opponent's primary checks to Magnemite thanks to their Electric resistance. Ferroseed resists all of Magnemite's attacks and can force it out with Knock Off, Foongus can put it to sleep with Spore, and Grookey outspeeds and threatens it with Drain Punch. However, Magnemite resists their STAB attacks and can threaten Foongus and Grookey with Steel-type attacks.

[OVERVIEW]

-Magnemite is a potent offensive pivot, combining high Special Attack with STAB Volt Switch and surprising versatility.
-Its Electric/Steel typing is great both offensively and defensively, providing almost perfect neutral coverage with its STABs while packing useful resistances to Psychic-, Grass-, and Poison-type attacks.
-It can sport nearly unrivaled longevity with Recycle+Berry Juice, or serve as a powerful revenge killer with a Choice Scarf set.
-Magnemite's typing is a double-edged sword, leaving it with nasty weaknesses to common Fighting- and Fire-type attacks and leaving it particularly vulnerable to being trapped.
-It is extremely vulnerable to the common Knock Off, limiting its ability to come in against a number of common threats.
-Magnemite's movepool is rather barren; it completely lacks viable coverage outside of its STABS. (Not really; there is literally one pokemon that resists both STAB moves)

Moves
========

-Flash Cannon and Thunderbolt are powerful and reliable STAB attacks. Flash Cannon prevents Ground-types from freely switching in on Magnemite, while Thunderbolt is slightly stronger and prevents threats that resist Steel such as Pawniard and Ponyta from pivoting into Magnemite.
-Volt Switch allows Magnemite to pivot out of unfavorable matchups and generate momentum from the numerous switches it forces.
-Steel Beam is Magnemite's strongest attack, OHKOing almost everything that doesn't resist it. Its 50% recoil is mitigated by Berry Juice.
-Alternatively, Endure allows Magnemite to live any hit, making it harder to deal with via chip damage. (mention how it allows Mag to activate Berry Juice)
-Recycle in tandem with Berry Juice allows Magnemite to fully heal up to 16 times, giving it nearly unmatched longevity.
- Reorder this according to the changes
Set Details
========

-The given EV spread with a Modest nature maximizes Magnemite’s Special attack, ensuring it hits as hard as possible. A Timid nature allows Magnemite to outspeed Mareanie. (Porygon and Koffing)
-The remaining EVs are put into defenses, allowing Magnemite to survive an Analytic-boosted Hydro Pump from Staryu, as well as super effective coverage moves such as Grookey’s Drain Punch and Galarian Ponyta’s Mystical Fire. (We should be running max / max)
-The combination of Berry Juice and Recycle
-Sturdy allows Magnemite to avoid being OHKOed, allowing it to (finish this)

Usage Tips
========

-Use Magnemite as a pivot into offensive threats that it checks, as it is effective at grabbing momentum with its powerful Volt Switch.
-When in battle, fire off powerful attacks and pivot with Volt Switch, healing with Recycle as needed.
-In a pinch, Magnemite can stall turns by continually using Recycle, which can be useful against threats such as Grookey. (This needs to talk about how BJ Mag is argueably the best check to Porygon since you can stall it out barring a freeze. Grookey is also a really bad example cuz it has Knock Off.)
-If running Endure, you can be much more aggressive with Magnemite, as it can live any attack and heal to full.
-Steel Beam and Magnemite’s inability to be OHKOed make Magnemite an effective revenge killer and emergency check to dangerous attackers such as Grookey.
-Magnemite is completely crippled by Knock Off, so make sure to avoid Knock Off users at all costs.

Team Options
========

-Fighting- and Poison-types are mandatory in order to check prominent threats such as Mienfoo and Pawniard that Magnemite struggles against.
-Staryu checks Ponyta and Mudbray and can remove Stealth Rock for Magnemite.
-Grookey is an excellent partner; it shares several checks with Magnemite(like what?), and can check Ground-types for it.
-Frail attackers such as Ponyta and Abra appreciate Magnemite’s ability to get them in safely with Volt Switch.

Moves
========

-Thunderbolt and Flash Cannon are powerful, reliable STAB attacks.
-Volt switch punishes opposing switch-ins and is effective at grabbing momentum.
-Steel Beam is Magnemite's most powerful attack, OHKOing most neutral targets after minimal prior damage.

Set Details
========

-The given EV spread maximizes Magnemite's Special Attack and Speed, ensuring it hits as hard and fast as possible and that it outspeeds the entire unboosted metagame with a Choice Scarf equipped.
-A Modest nature improves most of Magnemite's damage rolls, while a Timid nature allows it to outspeed Adamant Choice Scarf Mudbray. (Add Choice Scarf Porygon, which is the big one that you outspeed)
-Analytic is the preferred ability, as it punishes the many switches Magnemite forces. Sturdy is a viable alternative to serve as a more effective revenge killer if paired with hazard removal from Staryu.(Bad)

Usage Tips
========

-Choice Scarf Magnemite works best as a hit-and-run attacker and revenge killer, firing off its powerful attacks and switching out when faced with a check.
-Magnemite's typing and Speed with a Choice Scarf makes it a good offensive check to dangerous threats such as Staryu, Grookey, and Psychic-types.
-Magnemite can easily force switches; take advantage of this with powerful, Analytic-boosted attacks or by gaining momentum with Volt Switch
-This set is very easy to trap with Diglett or Trapinch, especially if it is locked into an Electric-type attack, so be very careful when facing a team with one of these Pokemon.

Team Options
========

-Staryu is a great partner for Magnemite. The two share common checks in Grass-types, and Staryu can switch into Ponyta and Mudbray for Magnemite.
-Fighting- and Poison-types are present on most teams and can reliably switch into Magnemite's checks.
-Frail attackers like Ponyta and Abra appreciate Volt switch to soften up opposing Pokemon and bring them in safely.

-Magnemite can run a Magnet Pull set that can effectively remove opposing Steel-types. This set holds an Eviolite and runs Iron Defense, Charge Beam, Flash Cannon, and Rest. However, it is not very useful outside of this specific role and is usually outclassed by Trapinch.
-Teleport allows Magnemite to safely pivot out of Ground-types, but is otherwise entirely outclassed by Volt Switch.

**Ground-types(lowercase)**: Ground-types are immune to Magnemite's Electric STAB and can OHKO it with their STAB attacks. Diglett and Trapinch can both trap Magnemite while outspeeding or surviving an attack and OHKOing in return. Mudbray can coe in on an ELectric-type attack and threaten Magnemite's team with its powerful attacks.

**Ponyta**: Ponyta resists Magnemite's Steel STAB and threatens to outspeed and OHKO it.(I don't know about this point tbh. Specify that this is pretty much limited to BJ Mag and Scarf Mag after Flame Charge.)

**FIghting-types(lowercase)**: FIghting-types such as Mienfoo and Pawniard(I think u mean Timburr) threaten to OHKO Magnemite with their STAB attacks. They are especially threatening to Berry Juice variants due to Knock Off. However, they don't like taking a hit from Magnemite.

**Grass-types(lowercase)**: Grass-types are often an opponent's primary check to Magnemite thanks to their Electric resistance. Foongus can put it to sleep with Spore, Ferroseed resists all of Magnemite's attacks and can threaten it with Knock Off, and Grookey outspeeds and threatens Magnemite with Drain Punch. However, Magnemite resists their STAB attacks and can threaten Foongus and Grookey with Steel-type attacks. (You should emphasize Ferroseed as the premier check since it resists Magnemite's STAB combination and can remove item with Knock Off.)

Recycle in tandem with Berry Juice allows Magnemite to fully heal 16 times continually, giving it nearly unmatched longevity.(16 times is very unrealistic) Endure lets it survive any hit when chip damage deactivates Sturdy. Reaching 1 HP with either Endure or Sturdy activates Berry Juice, fully healing Magnemite and reactivating Sturdy. Recycle lets these cycles be used continually. Steel Beam is Magnemite's strongest attack, OHKOing almost everything that doesn't resist it,(AC) and its recoil can be mitigated by Berry Juice. Berry Juice mitigates its 50% recoil.(remove extra space) Thunderbolt gives Electric-type coverage without forcing a switch and is slightly stronger than Flash Cannon.

Frail attackers such as Ponyta and Abra appreciate Magnemite getting them in safely with Volt Switch.

move 1: Substitute

Eviolite Diglett can reliably switch into Ferroseed, provide Memento support to ensure Ferroseed cannot break Magnemite's Substitutes, break opposing Abra's Focus Sash, and guarantee Stealth Rock against teams with Natu. This set struggles against Pawniard teams, so your team should prepare to handle Pawniard by bringing a Fighting-type such as Mienfoo.

Other Options
=============

===================

**Fighting-types(lowercase)**: Fighting-types such as Mienfoo and Timburr threaten to OHKO Magnemite with their STAB attacks. They are especially threatening to Berry Juice variants due to Knock Off. However, they don't like taking a hit from Magnemite.

**Ponyta**: Ponyta can outspeeds and OHKOes Berry Juice sets and outspeeds Choice Scarf sets after a Flame Charge.
