Landorus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power
- Sludge Bomb
- Substitute
- Protect
For the first time in eight years, Sheer Force Landorus is once again viable in VGC, and it has returned with a vengeance! Its incredibly strong Sheer Force-boosted Earth Power is capable of demolishing any Pokemon weak to Ground, including the mainstays of the Series 10 metagame such as Incineroar, Zacian-C, Stakataka, and Regieleki. The ability to dispatch these threats is appreciated so universally that Landorus makes a great pairing with any Restricted Pokemon in the format, from physical attackers like Zacian-C to special sweepers like Xerneas and Calyrex-S. Landorus is more than just its Earth Power, though, as Sludge Bomb deals massive damage to would-be switch-ins like Rillaboom, Tsareena, and Tapu Fini. It capitalizes beautifully off of this offensive pressure with Substitute, punishing defensive plays and guaranteeing a safe opening to attack. Water-types like Kyogre and Urshifu-R threaten Landorus, so it's important to pair it with Grass- and Electric-types like Rillaboom, Amoonguss, and Regieleki.
