SV OU Kingambit Stall (Looking for improvement)

pokepaste: https://pokepast.es/f837db9ecb87046c

The team as constructed using the stalling core of Skarmory Dondozo and Gliscor. Versions of this were tested with pretty much every possible stall component, but this build has had the most success for me. I don't have any impressive peaks because I'm just not that good, but I'd say that I win 4 out of every 5 games played.

SMOGE (Skarmory) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spikes
- Body Press
- Roost
- Whirlwind

Key component of the team that provides a check to almost every Great Tusk variant (outside of the very rare CC + eq + temper flare with atk booster), most Roaring Moon and Iron Boulder sets, and a soft check to both rock and water Ogerpon. I prefer spikes > iron defense simply because of the prevalence of hyper offense teams with atk booster Great Tusk which generally disallows opportunities to click iron defense as it necessitates spamming roost to a comfortable amount of HP. Spikes also work better because of U-Turn spammers like Meowscarada and Roaring Moon, giving Skarmory a way to make progress without having to predict clicking Body Press and potentially allow in a dangerous threat like Raging Bolt or Walking Wake.

YAMA (Dondozo) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Curse
- Liquidation
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Dondozo is possibly the most important mon on the team because of the combination of bulk, amazing defensive typing and unaware enabling it to counter almost every physical sweeper in the tier (the exception being Ogerpon that can be handled with Tera dragon). Curse is important to handle sun teams that run atk boosting choice band Roaring Moon and Great Tusk, as well as some other devastating physical attackers like choice band Meowscarada and the occasional Weavile. Some choose to run Body Press over Sleep Talk or Curse to provide a more concrete answer to Kingambit, but I find that substitution pretty unnecessary.

SCOURGE (Gliscor) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Careful Nature
- Toxic
- Protect
- Knock Off
- Spikes

The final and most important piece of the main stall core, Gliscor provides a bevy of resistances and incredible longevity along with reliable Toxic and Knock Off spam. Because of these traits, Gliscor is the main way through which the team can make progress against bulkier teams or opposing stall teams. Having 2 spikes users might seem slightly odd, but with the rise of hyper offense teams sporting multiple booster energy setup sweepers that are not only vulnerable to spikes, but Gliscor does very well against with the assistance of Toxic and Tera fairy, as well as the relatively common Gliscor 1v1 matchup, spikes is important here. Max special defense is important to switch into mon like Dragapult and Raging Bolt. Importantly, this special bulk allows Tera fairy Gliscor to effectively check choice specs Kyurem without risking a freeze.

WTFMBWTFMCWTFMR (Weezing-Galar) @ Leftovers
Ability: Neutralizing Gas
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 HP / 196 Def / 60 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Strange Steam
- Defog
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Weezing provides another solid physical sponge, a burn spreader, and defogger that can't be stopped by Gholdengo due to Neutralizing Gas. Gas is the primary reason for Weezing's place on this team as it removes key abilities from mon that rely on them to function effectively. Gliscor is the most notable example as Gas forces it to take toxic damage instead of healing, Gholdengo and Hatterene become vulnerable to Will-O-Wisp burns and Defog attempts, Kingambit becomes much less threatening (both because it loses Supreme Overlord boosts but also because this set's speed allows Weezing to outspeed and land a burn), weather setters like Torkoal and Alolan Ninetales are shut down, and Serperior becomes a complete non-threat. Outside of Gas, Weezing is a decent physically defensive fairy type that can stand up to chip damage with a formidable 32 Pain Split pp and low HP stat.

SODA MASTER (Slowking-Galar) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Chilly Reception
- Toxic
- Sludge Bomb
- Future Sight

Glowking provides an important special sponge and a poison type that isn't weak to psychic and can shrug off stray Earth Powers from Kyurem and Enamorus. Future Sight is convenient as another form of chip damage and can force kills in combination with Skarmory's strong Body Press. Another Toxic user is crucial to shut down sweepers like Calm Mind Primarina and Quiver Dance Volcarona. Toxic along with a reliable poison STAB in Sludge Bomb is the main argument for Glowking over Slowking on this team, but that substitution would provide a more solid check to special water attackers like Walking Wake.

ROCKEFELLER (Kingambit) @ Leftovers
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Sucker Punch
- Kowtow Cleave
- Iron Head

Kingambit provides a solid check to Gholdengo and Dragapult, as well as bulkier fairies like Hatterene and sometimes Clefable. It also is a good check to Darkrai outside of Focus Blast variants, which typically lack the Ice Beam needed to break through Gliscor. Gambit can also get up Stealth Rock fairly easily against mon it checks, making solid progress for the team. Even with no heavy attack investment or Swords Dance, dual STABS can still do decent damage to non-resists, and Sucker Punch is still a strong priority and revenge killing option for late game or sweepers that get out of hand.

Bad Matchups

- Gholdengo/Darkrai

Nasty Plot + Focus Blast rips apart the entire team and requires very precise play to deal with, let alone the rest of their hyper offense teams.

- Great Tusk with Temper Flare and Booster Energy

Albeit rare, this set can easily deal with Skarmory and deal lots of damage to Dondozo because unaware does not ignore protosynthesis boost; also does lots of damage to Gliscor becasue of a lack of defense investment.

- Rain with Archaludon

Archaludon is really difficult for this team to deal with, and is the main reason I want some feedback. Slowking doesn't take much damage but can't respond with meaningful damage and just allows Electro Shot spam and after that it's over.

Gameplan

Basically just find a good stalling pattern and prioritize keeping important mon healthy. Make sure to play super careful as everything in OU now has the option to run some disruption like Knock Off or a status move. Keep in mind Skarm and Gambit have pretty solid damage output and Dondozo is a great curse sweeper, so those are some alternative wincons to play to.
