Base Stats:
HP: 92
Attack: 105
Defense: 90
Sp. Atk: 125
Sp. Def: 90
Speed: 98

Ability: Levitate, This Pokemon is immune to Ground; Gravity/Ingrain/Smack Down/Iron Ball nullify it.

Notable Moves (Ordered by relevance):

Physical: U-Turn / Crunch / Earthquake

Special: Draco Meteor / Dark Pulse / Flamethrower / Fire Blast / Flash Cannon / Earth Power / Tera Blast /Surf / Hydro Pump / Fire Spin

Status: Nasty Plot / Substitute / Taunt / Thunder Wave / Stealth Rock / Dragon Dance
(RIP Roost)
Pros:
- Well-distributed stats overall, with a decent speed tier and good coverages.
- Can work as an amazing win condition thanks to Nasty Plot, having easy opportunities to set up a Substitute on Ground types to use them as fodders thanks to Levitate.
- Choice Scarf and Choice Specs sets can still work pretty good as always, having acces to U-Turn allows it to not lose momentum while using Choice sets.
- Dragon typing as always offers a lot of defensive utility, resisting Fire, Water, Grass and Electric moves, Dark also has amazing defensive utility on a metagame where Psychic types and Stored Power users as a whole are relevant.

Cons:
- Despite having a decent speed tier, it falls apart vs a good part of the metagame, notable examples of this are Pawmot, Scream Tail, Noivern, Paldean Tauros (both forms), Gengar and Weavile just to name a few.
- Has an amazing defensive utility thanks to its typing, unfortunate due to losing Roost, can be overwhelm by taking repeatedly hits + Stealth Rocks damage, take a Knock Off will kill most of its longevity.
- Despite being a dark type, which means has a strong match up vs Psychic types, most Psychic types are right now carrying either Fighting or Fairy coverage, not to mention the possibility of Teratypes to deal with Dark types, the easiest example is Espartha using Tera Fighting/Fairy in order to beat Dark types.

Terastallization potential:

As a whole, Dragon types have an amazing terastallization potential, and Hydreygon is no exception to this, Steel type is probably the best option for Hydreigon if you aim to use Nasty Plot sets, as this allows you to turn Fairy types from checks to fodders, Sub Plot Variants are super scary to face, and can force to sack more than 1 pokemon if you dont play around them carefully, Steel Hydreygon behind a Sub can easily use Fairy types as fodders, and doesnt even need Flash Cannon to beat them, Nasty Plot sets can also use Dark if they want even stronger Dark Pulses, Water is also a good option to be used as a defensive option while using something like Surf to take advantage of a +2 STAB Surf.
Choice sets can use one of Hydregon's typing to turn it into a monotye, this is exceptional better on Scarf sets, as this makes revenge killing even easier, you can turn your Choice Scarf Hydreygon into a Mono Dragon type, to ensure KOs with a fast and even stronger Draco Meteor. Another option is Ghost, as this allows it to easily revenge kill foes that can try to avoid being revenge killed with priority moves, notable examples are Mach Punch Pawmot and Extreme Speed Lucario. You can always go more creative and use a teratype that matchs one of your coverage moves.

Potential sets:

Hydreigon @ Leftovers / Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Steel / Dark / Water / Ghost
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Flamethrower
- Substitute / Draco Meteor / Surf

Hydreigon has an amazing variety of options for coverages, but myself I have found Sub Plot with Dark Pulse and Flamethrower the most succesful one, you can customize it as you wish depending on what u want.

Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Dragon / Ghost
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast
- U-turn

Hydreigon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Dragon / Dark / Steel
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Flamethrower
- Flash Cannon / Surf / U-Turn

This are your classic Choice Hydreigon sets, not to much to mention here, but just like Nasty Plot sets, they are very customizable.

Hydreigon @ Eject Pack / Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Dragon / Ghost
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Taunt / Flamethrower
Eject Pack allows you to instantly switch out when you click Draco Meteor for the first time, can be a cool option for a Stealth Rock setter set, if you want to guarantee your rocks, you can always use a Focus Sash, Taunt prevent Defog or attempts to use Hydreigon as a fodder, Dragon tera type gives you an even bigger Draco Meteor nuke, Ghost is also an option if you want to block Rapid Spin

That is all for today, thanks for reading!

Nobody's responded to this? wack.

Anyone who's been playing UU for the last, well, 27 days has probably figured out by this point that Hydreigon is exactly as stupid as the OP has made it out to be, and has only had its stonks rise since.

Substitute Nasty Plot with Steel Tera walls far too much and is honestly overwhelming for the entire tier. Base Hydreigon has a lot of free switchins; Rotom appliances, Sandy Shocks, Bramble, Toedscruel post-Spore, Armarouge, and a very depressingly longer list - and can click Substitute on a switch out, to scout a coverage move, or on a status move. Steel with Levitate means you completely aren't threatened by SpDef Hippowdon, Donphan, still Toedscruel, Cetitan excluding Superpower, many variants of Tinkaton... the list is ridiculous. Base typing also has Encore immunity from Grafaiai, Thunder Wave and Encore immunity from Sableye......

I've seen success with Taunt NP sets specifically to block Blissey Wish, Hippowdon phazing, and Azumarill Belly Drum, and even though that's literally all the moveslot offers, many defensive teams' best answer is either Blissey or Hippowdon. Or they don't have an answer. Flash Cannon has also seen use on a bunch of players for the ability to bonk Azumarill.

Specs and Scarf are also great because they exploit the fact that NP is Hydrei's best set rn, and in particular the ability to pivot out of their Hydrei check is amazing. Both do get hard walled by SpDef Hippo, Blissey, and you can just guess wrong into Tinkaton and suffer for it.

Stealth Rock, on the other hand... not so hot. Mostly just from opportunity cost and 4MSS.

tldr hydrei went from great to please ban this thing but don't until after I abuse it more thanks love you UU council :wuv:
