Grimmsnarl carves a niche in the metagame courtesy of its access to Prankster alongside dual screens, Taunt, and a solid defensive typing. This makes it a solid lead Pokemon on hyper offense teams. Prankster allows Grimmsnarl to set dual screens before the foe can attack it and Taunt denies Defog attempts from the likes of Landorus-T, Gliscor, Tapu Fini, and Kartana, keeping dual screens active. It competes with Tapu Koko as a dual screens setter due to the latter's Electric Terrain support, which facilitates the dangerous Hawlucha, and ability to pivot out with U-turn, effectively giving its teammates more turns to sweep; however, Grimmsnarl separates itself due to having Prankster, solid defensive typing, better special bulk, and more utility outside of screens thanks to Spirit Break. Taunt additionally prevents entry hazard setters such as Landorus-T, Garchomp, Heatran, and Ferrothorn from setting up hazards, as well as disabling setup from the likes of Mega Latias, Mega Garchomp, Volcarona, and Mega Scizor. Grimmsnarl's solid defensive typing also allows it to hold off Mega Latias and Ash-Greninja. However, Grimmsnarl is extremely vulnerable to common wallbreakers such as the aforementioned Kartana and Heatran, as well as Mega Mawile and Mega Medicham. Spirit Break is used to target Dark-type Pokemon, which are immune to Prankster Taunt, like Weavile, Ash-Greninja, Mega Tyranitar, and Hydreigon. Light Clay gives its teammates more turns of dual screens to sweep, an invaluable benefit for hyper offense teams.

Grimmsnarl exclusively fits onto hyper offense teams, which include a bevy of wallbreakers and sweepers that benefit from its dual screens. Serperior, Volcarona, Gyarados, and Bisharp highly appreciate dual screens bolstering their mediocre bulk, making their attempt to sweep easier. Serperior and Bisharp also punish the use of Defog with Contrary and Defiant, respectively, making themselves more dangerous and difficult to handle. Due to Grimmsnarl's vulnerability to ferocious wallbreakers like Heatran, Kartana, and Mega Mawile, switch-ins to them like Kommo-o, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Scizor are helpful. Kommo-o, as well as Rillaboom, also checks Ash-Greninja, an otherwise annoying Pokemon for hyper offense teams to face. Entry hazard leads such as Landorus-T and Mew work with Grimmsnarl to assist its teams in sweeping.

Thunder Wave may be used to debilitate foes reliant on their speed, such as Mega Lopunny, Kartana, Serperior, and Hawlucha. However, Grimmsnarl is unable to touch Dark-types such as Weavile, Ash-Greninja, and Mega Tyranitar if it runs it, as they're immune to Prankster status moves.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Powerful Wallbreakers**: Despite dual screens lessening the damage Grimmsnarl takes, strong wallbreakers such as Heatran, Kartana, and Mega Mawile can still overwhelm it.

**Steel-types**: The aforementioned Mega Mawile, Heatran, and Kartana alongsideother Steel-types like Melmetal and Magnezone all do not care much for Spirit Break and hit Grimmsnarl very hard.

**Knock Off**: Grimmsnarl despises losing its Light Clay, as this limits the number of turns its teammates can benefit from dual screens. Weavile, Kartana, Clefable, Ferrothorn, and Tapu Fini all commonly carry the move.

Prankster Taunt is also great for opposing Taunt users, meaning Grimmsnarl isn’t stopped by them. I would also add that Grimm’s typing can let it hold off Ash-Greninja and Mega Lopunny, which these teams often struggle against. These traits are highly appreciated by hyper offense teams. However, Grimmsnarl is extremely vulnerable to common wallbreakers such as the aforementioned Kartana and Heatran as well as Mega Mawile, Mega Medicham. It also competes with Tapu Koko as a dual screens setter due to its great natural speed tier, Electric Terrain support facilitating the dangerous Hawlucha, and the ability to pivot with U-turn, effectively giving its teammates more turns to sweep. Make the Tapu Koko comparison the third sentence, but then highlight Grimmsnarl’s traits as a defensive Pokemon who has some urility outside of screens thanks to Spirit Break. Spirit Break is used to target Dark-type Pokemon which are immune to Prankster moves, like Weavile, Ash-Greninja, Mega Tyranitar, and Hydreigon. Light Clay extends the usual 5 turns of Light Screen and Reflect to 8 turns, giving its teammates more turns to sweep.

Thunder Wave may be used to cripple opponents reliant on their speed, such as Mega Lopunny, Kartana, Serperior, and Hawlucha. However, not only are Mega Lopunny and Hawlucha scared of Spirit Break, this leaves Grimmsnarl unable to touch Dark-types like Weavile, Ash-Greninja, and Mega-Tyranitar. Switch the clauses around (however, this leaves grimm unable to….and it threatens mlop and kucha with spirit break).

Grimmsnarl carves a niche within the metagame courtesy of its access to Prankster alongside dual screens, Taunt, and a solid defensive typing. This makes it a solid support phrasing it as a “support Pokemon” feels weird to me honestly, i think u shld specify it as a lead Pokemon on hyper offense teams. Prankster allows Grimmsnarl to setup dual screens before the opponent can attack it and Taunt allows Grimmsnarl to deny Defog attempts from the likes of Landorus-T, Gliscor, Tapu Fini, and Kartana, keeping dual screens active. It competes with Tapu Koko as a dual screens setter due to its the latter's great natural speed tier, Electric Terrain support facilitating the dangerous Hawlucha, and the ability to pivot out with U-turn, effectively giving its teammates more turns to sweep. u can merge these two together imo and shorten it a tad bit, also idt the speed is worth the mention since grimm has prank, if anything i wld nuke the speed mention and add a prank mention here, and possibly move the sentence talking abt prank down here Grimmsnarl separates itself due to its solid defensive typing, better special bulk, and more utility outside of screens thanks to Spirit Break. Taunt additionally prevents entry hazard setters such as Landorus-T, Garchomp, Heatran, and Ferrothorn from setting up entry hazards as well as disabling setup attempts from the likes of Mega Latias, Mega Garchomp, Volcarona, and Mega Scizor. Prankster also makes Grimmsnarl's Taunt go before the opponent's Taunt, preventing Grimmsnarl from being shut down ye this can be merged / nuked w the last sentence / with a singular prank sentence. Grimmsnarl's solid defensive typing also allows it to hold off Mega Lopunny and Ash Greninja u cannot switch into mlop and not die, change to smtg else. These traits are highly appreciated by hyper offense teams combine this with last sentence. However, Grimmsnarl is extremely vulnerable to common wallbreakers such as the aforementioned Kartana and Heatran as well as Mega Mawile and Mega Medicham. Spirit Break is used to target Dark-type Pokemon which are immune to Prankster moves, like Weavile, Ash-Greninja, Mega Tyranitar, and Hydreigon . **Taunt**: Taunt from the likes of Heatran, Tapu Fini, and Serperior is able to limit Grimmsnarl to one layer of screens. However, Prankster makes Grimmsnarl use Taunt first. u taunt them all first and worst case scenario (steel z tran) u still get up 1 screen, risking taunt means u risk ur screener as well, and if its spd u taunt and screen anws, the rest u beat

**Knock Off**: Grimmsnarl despises losing its Light Clay, as this limits the amount of turns its teammates can benefit from dual screens. Weavile, Kartana, Clefable, Ferrothorn, and Tapu Fini all commonly carry the move.

mention of steel types here, spirit break does nothing to all of them and they are either free setup / in or they pressure it out hard
