move 3: Rest
move 4: Toxic / Sleep Talk
item: Chesto Berry / Weakness Policy
ability: Competitive
nature: Timid
evs: 248 HP / 56 Def / 204 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Gothitelle's incredible bulk coupled with access to the combination of Cosmic Power and Stored Power makes it a deadly setup sweeper in the ZU metagame. Toxic is used to cripple Dark-types that can't beat Gothitelle after it has set up such as Vullaby, Morgrem, and Galarian Linoone. Sleep Talk can be used to make Gothitelle set up more consistently, but at the cost of not being able to touch Dark-types. 204 Speed EVs with a Timid nature are used to make Gothitelle faster than Gourgeist-L, being able to Rest and activate the Chesto Berry before being hit by Poltergeist. Weakness Policy is an option to make Gothitelle snowball more quickly, but makes it harder to use Rest. Grassy Seed can also be used with Grookey support in Grassy Terrain teams alongside Calm Mind, giving Gothitelle an easier time setting up, but trades the ability to boost its Defense for more breaking power, making it easier to get overwhelmed by physical attackers such as Silvally-Ice, Galarian-Linoone and Trevenant.

Gothitelle is better used as a late game sweeper, therefore wallbreaking support from Pokemon such as Pikachu and Stonjourner is recommended. Phazers such as Hippopotas and Vullaby are annoying for Gothitelle, so Pokemon that take advantage of them such as Choice Specs Whiscash and Ivysaur are great teammates. Toxic Spikes setters such as Whirlipede and Vespiquen are good partners that can help wear down grounded Dark-types such as Morgrem and Krokorok for Gothitelle . Taunt users such as Galarian Linoone, Krokorok, and Glalie are also problematic for Gothitelle, making Pokemon that don't mind Taunt users such as Silvally-Ice, Grapploct, and Machoke good partners. Finally, Dark types that rely on Rest for recovery such as Zweilous and Scraggy don't mind getting hit by Gothitelle's Toxic, making Pokemon that take advantage of Dark types such as Dedenne, Mr. Mime and Grapploct good partners.

move 3: Thunderbolt
move 4: Dark Pulse / Taunt
item: Leftovers / Colbur Berry
ability: Competitive

evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Gothitelle's bulk coupled with its ability Competitive makes it an excellent Defog punisher for offensive teams. Its average Speed stat makes it perfect for Sticky Web teams, since it outspeeds most of the metagame with its support, while also punishing hazard removal. Access to Nasty Plot makes it easy to snowball through walls such as Klang and Togetic after setting up. Thunderbolt gives Gothitelle the ability to hit Vullaby and Klang, while also punishing Defog users such as Vespiquen and Togetic. Dark Pulse lets Gothitelle hit opposing Psychic-types such as Beheeyem, Oranguru, and Galarian Mr. Mime. Taunt can be used to beat Pyukumuku, Klang, and Dusclops more reliably. Finally, Energy Ball is an alternative that lets Gothitelle get past Krokorok, but has no other notable use.

Hazard setters such as Charjabug, Carkol, Glalie and Whirlipede all appreciate Gothitelle's ability to punish Defog users such as Vullaby and Vespiquen. Spinblockers such as Lampent, Gourgeist-L, and Shedinja also complement Gothitelle well in keeping entry hazards up by punishing Rapid Spin users such as Carkol, Wartortle, and Galarian Mr. Mime. Dark-types such as Zweilous, Linoone-Galar, and Krokorok don't mind Gothitelle's coverage much, so partners that beat them such as Silvally-Ice, Machoke and Grapploct are recommended. Finally, other setup sweepers such as Wartortle, Eiscue, and Raichu appreciate Gothitelle's ability to wallbreak and discourage Defog during the early stages of the game.

Toxic is used to cripple Dark-types that can't beat Gothitelle after it has set up such as Vullaby, Morgrem, and Galarian Linoone. Ghost-types such as Gourgeist-L and Trevenant Dusclops (most Trev forgoe Polter for Shadow Claw) are very common in the ZU metagame, therefore consumable items such as Chesto Berry and Weakness Policy are used to make Gothitelle immune to Poltergeist. Explain the utility of each items, the Poltergeist immunity is a minor reason to use these items and you can shorten this to just say it's an added bonus. Sleep Talk can be used to make Gothitelle set up more consistently, but at the cost of not being able to touch Dark-types. Maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature can be used to make Gothitelle faster than Gourgeist-L, being able to Rest and activate the Chesto Berry before being hit by Poltergeist. Grassy Seed + Calm Mind can also be used with Grookey support in Grassy Terrain teams, giving Gothitelle an easier time setting up says what Calm Mind offers over Cosmic Power but also what are the drawbacks of not being able to boost its defense.

Gothitelle is better used as a late game sweeper, therefore wallbreaking support from Pokemon such as Pikachu and Stonjourner is recommended. I'd mention TSpikes since Goth deters Defog but also appreciates T-Spikes poisoning Taunt Dark-types.

Gothitelle's bulk coupled with its ability Competitive makes it an excellent Defog absorber not a fan of this word since it implies Gothitelle blocks Defog just like Volt / Water Absorber block Electric and Water moves in the ZU metagame (fluff) for offensive teams. Mime it also lets it break through Dusclops.

Spinblockers such as Dusclops Lampent (Gothitelle only fits on offensive teams, Dusclops doesn't), Gourgeist-L, and Shedinja also complement Gothitelle well in keeping entry hazards up by punishing Rapid Spin users such as Carkol, Wartortle, and Galarian Mr. Mime. Weakness Policy is an option to make Gothitelle snowball more quickly, but makes it harder to use Rest and is more situational.

Taunt users such as Galarian Linoone, Krokorok, and Glalie are also problematic for Gothitelle, making Pokemon that don't mind Taunt users such as Silvally-Ice, Grapploct, and offensive Machoke (assuming you mean offensive hear since defensive would mind Taunt, not being able to rest and whatnot) good partners. Finally, Dark-types that rely on Rest for recovery such as Zweilous and Scraggy don't mind getting hit by Gothitelle's Toxic, making Pokemon that take advantage of Dark types such as Dedenne, Mr. Mime and Grapploct good partners.

Finally, Energy Ball is an alternative that lets Gothitelle get past Krokorok, but has no other notable use.

Entry hazard setters such as Charjabug, Carkol, Glalie and Whirlipede all appreciate Gothitelle's ability to punish Defog users such as Vullaby and Vespiquen. Spinblockers such as Lampent, Gourgeist-L, and Shedinja also complement Gothitelle well in keeping entry hazards up by punishing Rapid Spin users such as Carkol, Wartortle, and Galarian Mr. Mime (Lampent isn't that good of an example here imo because Carkol packs Rock Blast sometimes. Despite Tuthur replacing Dusclops with Lampent, I think Dusclops fits assuming its using an offensive set. Otherwise, I think Carkol would have to be removed since the other two Ghosts can't really spin block vs it). Dark-types such as Zweilous, Linoone-Galar, and Krokorok don't mind Gothitelle's coverage much, so partners that beat them such as Silvally-Ice, Machoke and Grapploct are recommended.
