Pet Mod Fusion Evolution [Gen 9] - Final Winners! | Closure

:swsh/tinkaton::swsh/gardevoir:
Special Wall (Fairy)
DNA Donors: Tinkaton / Gardevoir
Fusion Name: Gardeton
New Types:

Base Stats: 96 / 70 / 71 / 97 / 110 / 87 [BST: 531] (+20 HP / +0 Atk / +0 Def / +0 SpA / +0 SpD / +0 Spe)
New Ability: Arcane Trickster = (Pickpocket + Trace)
Ability Description: Trace effects: On switch-in, if this Pokemon has no item, it steals a random adjacent foe's item.

Notable Moves:
Knock Off...
Draining Kiss, Focus Blast, Moonblast, Mystical Fire, Thunderbolt...
Calm Mind, Healing Wish, Stealth Rock, Teleport, Thunder Wave, Trick, Will-O-Wisp, Wish...

Intended Role: Special Wall, Special Wallbreaker, Hazard Setter
Role Justification: Pretty nice Special Fairy with a heck ton of utility and a good combination of stats, ability, and movepool. It can basically almost do it all, from hazard setter, defensive pivot with Teleport, can cripple mons with either Thunder Wave and Will-O-Wisp. Knock Off, and Wish is even an option too. It's got good bulk to sponge hits and decent enough SpA stat with Moonblast and some colorful coverage to not be passive; Trace is also pretty nice as a way to steal some helpful abilities while also switching into some common threats, like
drampiclus.png
Drampiclus and
iron tornado.png
Iron Torn, while simultaneously removing their items after you've absorbed Knock.

Gardeton's lower than ideal physical bulk means it can get muscle past pretty easily from strong Physical Breakers like
Iron Pins,
Roaring Sal, and
Lashiram, and even
brambleswine.png
Bramble can hit it hard even if it fears getting crippled. It also lacks reliable recovery and because of this it can sometimes get worn down easily from hazard setters. It also has a bit of a minor 4MSS depending on the moves it wishes to run to check some of the mons in the meta. Lastly although its SpA is serviceable, its not great and can feel pretty passive sometimes without CM boosts.

:swsh/zapdos-galar::swsh/klawf:
Speed Control (Fighting/Rock)
DNA Donors: Zapdos-Galar / Klawf
Fusion Name: Klawdos-Galar
New Types:

Base Stats: 80 / 120 / 102 / 60 / 72 / 99 [BST: 533] (+0 HP / +8 Atk / +0 Def / +0 SpA / +0 SpD / +12 Spe)
New Ability: Berserker Cloth = (Defiant + Anger Shell)
Ability Description: Combined effects.

Notable Moves:
Close Combat, High Horsepower, Knock Off, Stone Edge, U-turn...
...
Bulk Up, Spikes, Stealth Rock...

Intended Role: Choice Scarf, Physical Wallbreaker, Hazard Setter
Role Justification: Our resident Choice Scarfer, great source of speed control. Another fairly simple mon but with a bit more spice to it. Scarf on this mon is really great with its solid 99 base speed which is just in Scarf range and a good attack with great STABs in Close Combat and Stone Edge. It does particularly well against mons like the newcomers
Floatzera and especially
Deliraidon. Has U-turn for pivoting, Spikes and Stealth Rock to set hazards, and overall this mon does well as a premier Choice Scarf mon. Defiant can even be used as a bait for Defoggers and combined with Scarf can become a surprisingly effective sweeper if not careful. Generally the same deal with Anger Shell which can catch some people off guard when boosting its own stats.

New Ability: Flimsy Caltrops = (Toxic Debris + Weak Armor)
Ability Description: Combined effects.

Notable Moves:
...
Armor Cannon, Earth Power, Psychic, Psyshock, Sludge Wave...
Calm Mind, Memento, Spikes, Spiky Shield, Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes, Trick...

Intended Role: Special Wallbreaker, Hazard Setter
Role Justification: WIP (I'll fill this in soon when I have free time)

New Types:

Base Stats: 81 / 62 / 84 / 118 / 135 / 75 [BST: 555] (+0 HP / +0 Atk / +0 Def / +0 SpA / +18 SpD / +0 Spe)
New Ability: Burning Petals = (Flash Fire + Flower Veil)
Ability Description: Flash Fire effects + Fire-type Pokemon on this Pokemon's side cannot have their stat stages lowered by other Pokemon or have a non-volatile status condition inflicted on them by other Pokemon.
Notable Moves:

Armor Cannon, Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse, Draining Kiss, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Focus Blast, Giga Drain, Lava Plume, Moonblast, Stored Power
Calm Mind, Synthesis, Will-O-Wisp, Wish
Intended Role: Special Wall, Stored Power Sweeper, Wish Passer
Role Justification: Uses its great special bulk and incredible typing, combined with its status immunity, thanks to its ability, to wall. Can run a variety of potential sets, from a wall set with Synthesis/Wish for recovery, CM + Stored Power, and potentially a Specs set with Armor Cannon.

Base Stats: 90 / 105 / 103 / 71 / 63 / 102 [BST: 534] (+9 HP / +9 Atk / +0 Def / +0 SpA / +0 SpD / +2 Spe)
New Ability: Black Knight = (Tinted Lens + Justified)
Ability Description: Combined effect of both the abilities.
Notable Moves:
Axe Kick, Close Combat, First Impression, Iron Head, Megahorn, Stone Edge, Sucker Punch, U-Turn

Stealth Rock, Swords Dance
Intended Role: Wallbreaker, Hazard Setter (Stealth Rock), Offensive Pivot, Speed Control
Role Justification: Compresses a number of roles with its wide movepool and good defensive typing (Dirge aside). Threatens Stargrowth with STAB Megahorn, making it less willing to want to spin away any hazards that have been set by either it or its teammates. Can also theoretically run SD sets for sweeping after the opposing Dirge has been taken out by a teammate.

New Ability: Heavy Snow = (Snow Warning + Solid Rock)
Ability Description: Combined effect of both the abilities.
Notable Moves:

Blizzard, Earth Power, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Freeze-Dry, Lava Plume
Agility, Aurora Veil, Stealth Rock, Toxic, Will-O-Wisp, Yawn
Intended Role: Special Wallbreaker, Snow Setter, Bulky Attacker
Role Justification: The combination of the Defense boost from snow and Solid Rock make Cametales-Alola deceptively bulky. It can run Agility to potentially outspeed mons like Stargrowth, and then threaten it with a 4x effective Freeze-Dry, although this is very much prediction-reliant.

New Ability: Sheer Force = (Snow Warning + Solid Rock)
Ability Description: Combined effect of both the abilities.
Notable Moves:

Earth Power, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Freeze-Dry, Ice Beam, Lava Plume
Agility, Stealth Rock
Intended Role: Special Wallbreaker
Role Justification: Performs kind of similarly to its base form, but it trades bulk from Solid Rock and ability to set snow for itself and speed for nuclear Ground/Ice attacks.

New Ability: Pillage = (Wandering Spirit + Download)
Ability Description: On switch-in, swap abilities with the opponent.
Notable Moves:
Dragon Hammer, Earthquake, Knock Off, Outrage

Moonlight/Synthesis, Stealth Rock, Swords Dance, Teleport, Toxic, Toxic Spikes, Trick Room, Wish
Intended Role: Physical Wallbreaker, Mixed Wall, Trick Room Setter, Hazard Setter (Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes), Defensive Pivot
Role Justification: Can perform a defensive role on teams while not being a slouch offensively, as well as weakening mons that are reliant on their ability. Good defensive typing and high bulk facilitates switching in, and its large status movepool allows it to tailor its set to fit the role required of it.

DNA Donors: Tyranitar / Vikavolt
Fusion Name: Vikanitar
New Types:

Base Stats: 100 / 102 / 100 / 122 / 90 / 55 [BST: 569] (+12 HP / +0 Atk / +0 Def / +2 SpA / +3 SpD / +3 Spe)
New Ability: Sand Squall = (Sand Stream + Levitate)
Ability Description: Combined effect of both the abilities.
Notable Moves:
Stone Edge, X-Scissor, Superpower, Fire Punch, Iron Head, Earthquake , Aqua Tail.
Bug Buzz, Power Gem, Volt Switch, Ice Beam, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Surf, Hydro Pump, Flash Cannon, Earth Power, Energy Ball, Focus Blast
Stealth Rock, Sticky Web, Roost, Taunt, Dragon Dance, Thunder Wave, Toxic, Agility,
Intended Role: Rocker, Bulky Mon, Dragon Dancer
Role Justification: A versatile rocker that can win against popular removal, being dirge, stargrowth and bramble. It also packs much coverage to help deal with offensive mons while sporting assertive bulk with the sandstorm boost. It can be a partner to some garpyuk sets if you don't run Mega Vikanitar itself, Which is a dragon dancer that can deal with mons by virtue of its bulk, with it being able to win against dirge with a mixed set. Both its physical and special options are viable. However it has a pretty bad case of 4MSS, with it being able to only pick 2 offensive moves if you are running roost/rocks, or 3 if running roost/rocks only which heavily dampens its offensive potential due to its stabs not being the best for what it needs to hit. It is also vulnerable to knock which can be seen on some of the spinners, which leads to it being chipped down by hazards.

Sample Set used for Calculations
Vikanitar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Sand Squall
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

New Ability: Sand Stream = (Sand Stream + Levitate)
Ability Description: Combined effect of both the abilities.
Notable Moves:

Intended Role: The mega however takes on a much different role, with it now having a higher special attack stat. It can runs sets like Rocks 3a to replicate some Mega Tyranitar sets or run dd 3/2a depending on the team. DD Roost is an absolute monster defensively and can win vs some teams on load, but being locked to its stabs causes it to either lose to Bronze or Dirge
Role Justification:

Sample Set

Vikanitar-Mega @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 68 SpD / 188 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge / X-Scissor
- Earthquake / Fire Punch / Aqua Tail

It can outrun Iron Legion at + 1 with this set jolly, or run a bulkier set to aim to outrun the faster mons at +2

Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 100 HP / 252 Atk / 156 Spe

Its special Nasty Plot and double dance Acid armor Calm Mind sets also have great potential, all while having a good matchup vs some of the most popular removal, being Stargrowth, Deciperior and Iron Dirge. All around a very good mon

Notable Moves:
U-Turn (Flip if you dont like dirge) Knock Off, Earthquake, Close Combat, Crunch, Liquidation, Psychic Fangs, Aqua Jet
Hurricane, Dark Pulse, Heat Wave, Surf, Sludge Wave
Nasty Plot, Taunt, (Defog?)
Intended Role: Fast Offensive Pivot
Role Justification: This mon is designed to deal with fat regenerator mons that are currently in the tier, with no bulk to speak of, and an ability that puts chip on its opponents that switch into it. With some 4MSS that makes it choose what it hits and reliance on HDB, it is balanced in its own way. Also, I did not fuse it for the name it came to me in a prophetic vision

New Ability: Strong Jaw = (Rough Skin + Regenerator)
Ability Description: The opponent loses 1/8th hp when this Pokemon switches out
Notable Moves:
U-Turn (Flip if you dont like dirge) Knock Off, Earthquake, Close Combat, Crunch, Liquidation, Psychic Fangs, Aqua Jet
Hurricane, Dark Pulse, Heat Wave, Surf, Sludge Wave
Nasty Plot, Taunt, (Defog?)
Intended Role: Fast Offensive Pivot
Role Justification: The mega becomes immediately much more offensive with balanced offensive stats, and a gain in some bulk which despite it losing its funny ability allows it to run some silly sets that can break through defense while sacrificing its stealth rock immunity with the mandatory hdb

New Ability: Adrenaline = (Beast Boost + Libero)
Ability Description: Boosts this Pokémon’s highest stat by 1 after using a move once per switchin
Notable Moves:
Pyro Ball, Gunk Shot, U-Turn, Knock Off, High Jump Kick, Sucker Punch, Head Smash/Flare Blitz, Iron Head, Zen Headbutt.
Fire Blast, Sludge Wave, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball, Dazzling Gleam, Meteor Beam, Power Gem, Psychic, Grass Knot
Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes, Swords Dance, Rock Polish, Thunder Wave, Toxic, Magic Coat, Light Screen, Reflect
Intended Role: Dedicated Lead, Offensive Pivot, Speed Control.
Role Justification: This Pokémon can fill several different roles in a team, depending on how it is needed. It’s best set is an offensive hazard lead. With its stab combination serving to hit current removal/setters for 2hkos and Ohkos (stargrowth, brambleswine, iron meta). Despite struggling vs the current best Pokémon in the tier, it can use toxic to cripple the powerful grounds that oppose it, while being able to pivot out with uturn. With access to excellent utility moves such as knock thunder wave toxic stealth rock and toxic spikes, it can preform its roles effectively. There is also potential to run offensive sets which highlight its coverage to hit everything not named iron dirge.

overall it is an interesting offensive lead with breaking potential at the sacrifice of its speed. Also silly double choice sets

Role Justification:
Phishiram @ Choice Specs

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Blue Flare
- Surf / Fusion Flare

Phishiram @ Leftovers
Ability: Bombardment
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance

A Fire-type that can hit Brambleswine! I also designed it to pair well with Wopple, a powerful mon that struggles to break a number of foes, most of whom fear Phishiram (including Iron Dirge, Bronze Bonnet, Slither King, Revarantis, and Lashiram. In return, Wopple beats waters like Golisoros and Garpyuku).

Role Justification: A funny mon that shutdown the opposing abilities if they're replaceable, but if they're not, Sword of Ruin will be the punishment. It might be sucks in reality, but whatever. !!Funny interaction!!, right after mega evolved, this thing's Pixilate might get replaced by Power of Ruin.

Notable Moves:
U-turn
Dark Pulse, Fiery Dance, Focus Blast, Shadow Ball, Air Slash, Dazzling Gleam
Nasty Plot, Toxic Spikes
Intended Role: Special Wallbreaker
Role Justification: It gains immediate power through its ability, giving it a free QD boost. However, said boost wears off quickly and it can’t grab a speed boost without cuts to its special attack. It also doesn’t have anything to beat Iron Dirge and it can’t outspeed Iron Legion unless it drops its special attack.

Just subbing for a couple roles I'd want to see filled rn.

:swsh/gliscor::swsh/spidops:
Slow Bulky Pivot
Typing:

Stats: 82 / 87 / 113 / 48 / 80 / 65 [BST: 475] (+15 HP/+5 Def)
Ability: Lockdown = (Poison Heal + Stakeout)
Ability Description: Combined effect of both the abilities.
Notable Moves:
Earthquake, Circle Throw, Fire Fang, First Impression, Knock Off, Stone Edge, U-Turn
-
Defog, Protect, Roost, Silk Trap, Spikes, Stealth Rock, Sticky Web, Swords Dance, Taunt, Toxic Spikes
Intended Role: Defensive Pivot, Physical/Mixed Wall, Hazard Setter/Remover, Status Absorber
Role Justification: Finally, Crevicera 2! Very versatile mon that uses its bulk to force mons out, then nails the switchins with Stakeout-boosted attacks. Probably plays pretty similar to Gliscor overall, but some notable tools from Spidops include Silk Trap to slow down opposing mons and all three (!) hazards Gliscor lacks.

:swsh/samurott-hisui::swsh/grafaiai:
Hazard Stacker + Potential Scarfer
Typing:

Stats: 76 / 121 / 77 / 90 / 68 / 97 [BST: 524] (+20 Atk)
Ability: Rebel's Blade = (Sharpness + Poison Touch)
Ability Description: Sharpness effects. This Pokemon's slicing moves have a 30% chance of poisoning.
Notable Moves:
Aqua Jet, Ceaseless Edge, Cross Poison, Gunk Shot, Knock Off, Razor Shell, Sacred Sword, U-Turn
-
Parting Shot, Switcheroo, Swords Dance
Intended Role: Spike Stacker, Poison Spreader, Offensive Pivot, Scarf/Band Abuser
Role Justification: Samuraiai-H expands on Samurott-H's unusual brand of offensive support, trading raw power on Ceaseless Edge for pivoting and the ability to gradually poison the enemy team, both combining with Spikes to threaten massive amounts of chip against unprepared builds. Between its typing and Ceaseless Edge, most of the meta's common hazard removers struggle to switch in on it. Also, yes, Cross Poison is a slicing move. The big downside to this mon is some definite 4MSS.

Fat Fairy
Typing:

Stats: 93 / 67 / 81 / 87 / 103 / 117 [BST: 548] (+18 HP/+1 Def/+1 SpD)
Ability: Lipogenesis = (Thick Fat + Protosynthesis)
Ability Description: Combined effect of both the abilities.
Notable Moves:
-
Draining Kiss, Ice Beam, Moonblast, Mystical Fire, Thunderbolt, Stored Power
Calm Mind, Heal Bell, Milk Drink, Stealth Rock, Taunt, Toxic
Intended Role: Special/Mixed Wall, CM Sweeper, SR Setter
Role Justification: A simple fatmon with a great set of resistances between Fairy and Thick Fat. Should function as an effective wall that puts on pressure through either its utility or Calm Mind, using its abnormally high speed tier to great effect in either case. Resubbed because Geko asked for it :)

just...no.
Chloroblast, Moonblast, Flamethrower, Ice Beam, Volt Switch, Thunderbolt
Stealth Rock, Soft-Boiled, Calm Mind, Thunder Wave, Trick
Intended Role: Special Wallbreaker
Role Justification: I thought, "Why not use Magic Guard Chloroblast?" So I came up with this. It's quite fast, but without using Chloroblast it's not doing much damage. Specs are fine, but Grass isn't a great offensive type. Sure, it has great coverage, but you're not living many hits. To add on to the Speed aspect, it outspeeds the current speed demons of the tier in Whimsy Sands, Zarubok, Deliraidon, and Iron Legion. Unfortunately, however, it can't do anything of note to Grass resists except hit them with a weak attack. If it's not super-effective, it's not doing much damage. Some potential sets could be Specs for power, Life Orb for less power but the freedom to switch moves, Scarf to outspeed nearly the entire tier (even at +1), or even Expert Belt to use its good coverage.

New Ability: Frigid Forge = (Snow Warning + Flash Fire)
Ability Description: This Pokémon sets Snow on entry. When in Snow, this Pokemon is immune to Fire-type attacks and its own are boosted 1.5x if hit by one.
Notable Moves:
Fire Lash, Icicle Crash, Drain Punch, Knock Off, Facade
Fire Blast, Blizzard, Flamethrower, Scorching Sands, Giga Drain, Fire Spin, Flash Cannon
Taunt, Toxic, Autotomize
Intended Role: Special Sweeper / Wallbreaker, Mixed Wallbreaker
Role Justification: Heatilluxe offers many enticing attributes. First and foremost, its good STAB combo on both sides lets you punish anything trying to switch in. Physical sets are better at punishing switches, while Special sets are better at full-on wallbreaking. Additionally, Autotomize offers a good way to sweep...if you can survive a hit. Heatilluxe is fragile, while Ice/Fire is a terrible defensive typing (even with Snow's Defense boost, it's not taking any strong Earthquakes.) Compounding this issue is that Heatilluxe is rather slow, meaning you'll likely have to take a hit and fire back. Some sets that could be run are Scarf to patch up Heatilluxe's Speed, Specs/Band sets for incredible damage output, Life Orb for potential mixed sets, and Focus Sash + Autotomize for great sweeping potential.

Intended Role: Offensive Pivot (Choice Band), Setup Sweeper (Swords Dance), Hazard Setter (Stone Axe)
Role Justification: Brainless U-turn spammer that spreads status while it's at it. Two big 120 BP STABs in Close Combat and Sharpness-boosted X-Scissor. Has Stone Axe to set up hazards if you're predicting a switch, or Switcheroo to cripple incoming walls. SD + Trailblaze could also be potent, but it has to find a setup opportunity and lacks coverage. Finally, you could always run Dire Claw to exploit the RNG.

Swords Dance, King's Shield, Toxic, Destiny Bond, Autotomize, Calm Mind, Spikes, Stealth Rock, Substitute, Trick Room

Intended Role: Mixed Wallbreaker, Setup Sweeper (Swords Dance, Calm Mind and Autotomize), Hazard Setter (Stealth Rock and Spikes), Trick Room Setter
Role Justification: This thing has a lot going for it. Incredible typing, fantastic bulk, and it hits hard. Here are some ideas that come to mind:

1) Toxic + Substitute with Leftovers. Moonblast does the damage while King's Shield does the stalling.
2) Flash Cannon + Moonblast with Choice Specs. Maybe even run Close Combat for coverage, or Spikes on a switch.
3) Swords Dance with Weakness Policy
4) Autotomize with Weakness Policy
5) Calm Mind with Weakness Policy
6) Trick Room setter and abuser. Probably the least viable, since it doesnt have a good Speed tier for TR.

Slate Review

:Ceruledge::diancie: Tryna add Roaring Sal "counters" is kinda weird to me, but since this doesn't do that it's just gonna screw Arbo. Outside of that it's a fine enough bulky Fairy. No reliable recovery at all limits why I'd run this.

:Spidops::Dracozolt: Funnily this loses to all of the available Ground types so hard. Cringe webs too.

:Gourgeist::krookodile: Way too slow to accomplish what people want speed control to do right now, revenge killing sweepers.

:Chi-Yu::swoobat: broken. Deli 2.0.

:Iron-Moth::Clefable: Iron Fable is pretty strong yeah. Not absurdly so or anything, it has plenty counterplay, but it can be menace. Hoping we got fat fairies before offensive ones won though but let's see how it shakes out.

:Swampert::overqwil: I'll admit, base is better than base Gyaragarb. But Mega Gyaragarb is better than it's Mega so I still win‼

:Calyrex-Ice::Sableye: Others are right. Not sure how much I value the slow bulky offensive Ice if it's still weak to Rocks. Mega sounds very amusing for Stall.

:Cofagrigus::Gardevoir: Already spoke my thoughts on this - I don't like Pillage attached to already great Pokémon with a million ways to abuse that free turn.

:Magnezone::Ninetales-Alola: Certainly one way to make Hail a viable aspect of the meta. Something tells me a free 1.3 boost may or may not be great right now.

:Barbaracle::Pawmot: I don't think this is broken because of it's shoddy STAB options, but I don't get mentioning Pokémon like Scarfers or Iron Legion if they can't revenge kill it after it sets up.

:Goodra::Klawf: This being another Regenerator is almost made up for by being weak to Ice to annoy Bob. Almost.

Since this is weak to Rocks and isn't as bulky as it's parent, I suggest you actually do put some investment into those attacking stats.

:Tapu-Fini::Tentacruel: Solid Pokemon overall, but this being a hazard clearer and not a setter kinda throws me off. Meta needs less of the former, more of the latter.

:Xurkitree::Scream-Tail: Not much else to say than a pretty cool Scarfer, Offensive Pivot or Calm Mind sweeper. Nice touch getting the stats to be Prime.

:Toucannon::deoxys-defense: I don't think this is very good at all. Maybe the wrong Deoxys was used.

:Clodsire::bombirdier: This is indeed balanced Unaware, while still being able to somewhat make progress with Stealth Rock and Knock off. Overall a really great sub.

:Scizor::Kabutops: I'd like it's base form more if it were fast and could operate as a Scarfer. Even if it was 75 - 80 speed it could be a pseudo scarfer like what Wopple does sometimes. Mega is fine enough, kinda better Mega Scizor.

:Bellibolt::Togekiss: My opinions on this has softened over time, and really all I'll say is I wish this didn't lose Electromorphosis.

:Iron-Moth::Braviary-Hisui: Pretty solid offensive Pokemon. Might be rather annoying since atm we only have 2 Psychic resists that also resist Fire. I also don't think Screens needs any bolstering at all.

:Greninja::Kleavor: It's fine, mainly because it has a good speed tier if anything. I've kinda fallen out of favor with the whole Bug thing. Bugs suck and they are very rare in viability for a good reason.

:Gourgeist::Archeops: My opinions on this one solidified as well - I don't think this is good. Too much stuff can switch in on this for free right now, to the point where clicking STABs feels kinda crazy especially given their unreliability.

I'm not fond of mons that solely exist to propel multiple Mega Evolutions. Last time people bought into that gimmick we had to ban both anyways. I do not think these are all banworthy, but then you run into if the base form is any good. (it's not). Jury is out on this one but I personally don't like it.

Firstly, past Paradoxes with even stats - yuck.

:Scream-Tail::Goodra: All cool stuff and all, but I still dislike Fairies that get nuked by Blizzard.

:Great-Tusk::Buzzwole: Bigger Buzz.

:Flutter-Mane::Cyclizar: I still think the ability is completely shoddy btw. As for the mon itself, might be fine. Might be ass. Still haven't figured that out yet.

:Espathra::Kilowattrel: Strong and fast, Espawattrel has a scary amount of power behind it's first Volt Switch / Thunderbolt. Luckily for it Electric Terrain is more or less meme status at this point, and requires you to stack all the weaknesses. Good mon, I'd hope.

:Ursaluna::Accelgor: Alot of the allure of Guts comes from really big attacking Facades which come from either having STAB or high attack (apparently Ursaluna does both). This here doesn't really have that which is unfortunate. I don't think Accelgor makes much sense anyways, Sticky Hold is not that necessary.

:Tapu-Lele::Armarouge: broken. No going around it.

:Cetitan::Kingambit: I think you should use one of the other abilities that Kingambit offers instead of Pressure. It's bulkier but alot weaker than regular Gambit.

:Great-Tusk::Swellow: Great Lando T esq glue mon, but it has even stats in some places so yuck!

:Roserade::enamorus: Very very strong wallbreaker. Not sure if it's too strong, but it has alot of viable means of breaking what should check it. Not a special wall.

:Farigiraf::Dragapult: I wouldn't be opposed to having in the meta. Ive always said Normal Ghost is alot more interesting offensively than it is defensively.

::Scizor::overqwil: Pretty mixed on it. Poison Steel is very unique, but also not particularly great. This is def a case of Mega outclasses base though. It doesn't have Roost btw. (The prevo is not viable, but NFE appreciates it's contribution)

:Wishiwashi::Ho-oh: Pretty solid Pokemon. Very much "Palafin at home".

:Sableye::Mewtwo: Same thoughts I lobbied against IceLevel, only the base form here isn't as unsalvageable since it has a solid moche of screens setter.

:Pelipper::Palossand: Solid defensive Pokemon that adds a strong new niche and potential playstyle to the mix in Sand, further diversifying the meta. Good show.

:Empoleon::Iron-Moth: Almost all stats are odd, on a future paradox?!? Outside of that it's pretty cool, Fire Water is a cool typing.

:Diancie::Flygon: It's fine ig.

:Sirfetch:torkoal: Sun is the last thing this metagame needs right now.

:Weavile::Passimian: ok now we are talking. This is a pretty strong and fast Ice type breaker, Ice / Fighting is seen as pretty perfect coverage, even in relation to this metagame. A very strong addition to the tier.

I already gave my opinions on all of these sans last one.

:Toxapex::Overqwil: Realistically this sis probably the best Water Poison sub made, thanks to having reliable Recovery. It remains to be seen how effective Merciless would be on a Pokémon like this.

I'd be 1000% on board if this didn't compete with Decipherior. Though Deci has always leaned defensive, and has a lot of tools this lacks (Knock Off, Defog, Roost) so I might be overstating just how much they compete. In that case, pretty epic Pokemon.

They are probably gonna ban this if it has Self setting Sand Rush.

:Gardevoir::Tinkaton: My favorite Fairy sun so far, simply cuz it just does what it needs to do and doesn't really have any weird external stuff to worry about like rocks weaknesses. Wish and Knock Off is cool too.

:Zapdos-Galar::Klawf: Real strong scarfer here, it has a solid matchup versus most of offense. Also, lmao what the hell is Angry Shell interactions gonna be if this wins

:Glimmora::Armarouge: I don't like it. I don't like Poison Psychic.

I honestly don't really have any opinions on most things past this point. Been tryna cook some for like 4 hours but yh. So I'll just comment on specific stuff.

:Celebi::Zapdos: Good mon, very good mon. Electric Grass is cool
Glubbfubb

:Krookodile::Flamigo: those 20 points you spent on Special Attack are a complete waste, it's not gonna (viably) use it. Much better spent bolstering it's promising speed, attack and bulk to make it a very good Scarf user (93 is the bare minimum in our meta). nadeemafhel

:Primeape::Solgaleo: Real good stuff here. APaidActor

:Gliscor::spidops: I also do not think this is very good at all tbh. Bug Ground isn't really the meta.

:Samurott-Hisui::Grafaiai: Probably the best Samurott fusion subbed so far. Real solid addition and probably plays similarly like how it does in standard. Tapler

After a week, the Fusion Evolution SV survey is over!

We had 14 respondents tune in, which is not bad considering our relatively slim standard player base (like 9 people), so I'd like to thank everyone who participated.

Thank you Beaf Cultist, SuperEpicAmpharos, anaconja, Mossy Sandwich, Bobsican, Gekokeso, DenebStargazer, XenonHero126, Sticky Fingaaa, Jrdyop :), earl, zxgzxg, Ema Skye and finally Orangesodapop for taking the time to contribute to this survey, I appreciate it.

Anywho, on to the meat of the matter. We asked players on the overall enjoyment they garnered from the metagame.

20230620_170356.jpg

71.4% of respondents rank their enjoyment of the metagame a 4 out of 5, with the rest ranking it a 3, currently painting Fusion Evolution SV as a highly enjoyable metagame to participate in. This is good to know, as it let's higher ups know so far they have been on the right track.

Next up, we also asked how would you evaluate the overall competitiveness of the metagame.

20230620_170410.jpg

57.1% of respondents gave FE SV a 4 out of 5 in competitiveness, a majority, but a notable decline in comparision to it's enjoyment factor. 35.7% ranked it a 3 out of 5, and 7.1% (one guy) ranked it a measely 2 out of 5 in competitiveness. Clearly, the opinions of how highly competitive FE SV feels isn't as clear cut, but still leans largely positive.

Prior to the launch of PMPL, there were three Pokémon who was largely agreed upon by the community to occupy the S Ranking: Iron dirge, Stargrowth and Drampiclus in that order. After PMPL's 5 week run concluded we started to ask others how they feel about these Pokemon.

Iron Dirge
20230620_170440.jpg

A rather controversial Pokémon, Iron Dirge was polled by 42.9% of the respondents to require a nerf, and an additional 42.9% give it a 4/5 ranking, stateling that it is a "fantastic Pokémon" in the current meta. 14.3% give it 3/5, thinking it's great. It is clear that amongst the playerbase, it is mostly believed that Iron Dirge may warrant some form of action lobbied against it. Many have noted it's unhealthy warp it has on the metagame, forcing several surprise Water move users to get a spotlight in the PMPL in order to get past it. Still, some note that Dirge is akin to a necessary evil, and that Dirge prevents multiple set up sweepers present from overrunning the metagame.

Stargrowth
20230620_170505.jpg

Stargrowth was overwhelming seen as a top tier threat in the current metagame, with 64.3% of responders calling it a "fantastic Pokémon" with a 4/5 ranking. 21.4% of respondents say Stargrowth is a "great Pokémon" with a 3/5 ranking, and a vocal minority of 14.3% users think Stargrowth needs a nerf of some kind. Most respondents opinions on Star paint it as a Great Tusk / Landorus-Therian analogue, a strong and consistent glue Pokémon that offers ALOT of value to a team, checking Waters, Grounds, and removing all forms of hazards consistently well. Some have noted it's inability to be worn down by status and the poor state of hazards (something that largely in part happens because of Stargrowth) making it harder to handle and giving it grounds for nerfing, but this is again still a minority of pollers.

Drampiclus
20230620_170523.jpg

Drampiclus has respondents all over the place, with 42.9% of the people giving it a 3/5 ranking, dubbing it a "great Pokémon". After that opinions get split hard, with 21.4% granting it a 2/5 and another 21.4% giving it 4/5. Lastly, a vocal minority thinks Drampiclus should be outright buffed, with 1/5 grabbing 14.3% of the playerbase. Many believe that Drampiclus has "fallen off", and point out it's critical flaw that most of the special attackers that are popular right now can take advantage of it fairly easy with SE attacks. A few still more that at full health, Drampiclus can theoritically have a positive matchup versus the majority of the tier thanks to how actually slim the list of Pokémon that can either OHKO it through AV or can 2HKO while being able to tank a +1 attack in response. Funnily enough, the largest consensus is that people just do not have anything to say about it, which it's terrible showing in PMPL doesn't help.

When this survey started, week 5 was just about to go underway, so in addition to asking about the 3 previous S ranks, we also asked players about thoughts on 5 highest used Pokémon in the tour so far at the time ignoring said S ranks. Bronze Bonnet, Roaring Sal, Iron Tornado, Rotoghold and Iron Legion in that order. The consensus was as following:
"Bronze Bonnet is very bad, not sure what it can do"
"Roaring Sal is very good, offensive threat"
"Iron Tornado is good and has solid counterplay"
"Rotoghold is ok, if not slightly underwhelming"
"Iron Legion is very good, very solid wallbreaker"

The general opinions on the metagame on a whole state it to be fine, with a few key outliers like the aforementioned Iron Dirge ruining the fun. A lack of consistent special walls and hazard setters were also highlighted, and when asked about any changes that could be done, the addition of more walls and specifically new defensive Fairy types came up as a popular talking point. Quite a few noted that the metagame is offense centric and that balance has fallen on the wayside as well.

When asked about any unmentioned Pokémon anyone has strong opinions on, Deliraidon shot up as the most mentioned Pokémon, stating how difficult it is to currently answer defensively and it's negative effect on fat teams. Iron Mimic was quick to follow, with people pointing out how it can near invalidate alot of offensive teams on it's own, and how it forces the already excellent Iron Dirge into being on near every build to account for it. It seems like a nerf will be on the horizon for these Pokémon, but I believe how they will be nerfed if at all will be determined by how the current slate of winners turn out, especially since Fairy types, SpD walls and Rockers are very high on list of demands made by the playerbase regardless.

The info gathered here, and in PMPL itself should prove useful to both council members and voters in regards to how to move forward with the state of the metagame.

zxgzxg also submitted his survey in April 1,1969. He must be like 100 years old by now. Give him a shout out!

This ability is way too oppressive as ability removal. Once this enters the field, the ability will keep overwriting thins on either side until a mon that can't have its ability replaced switches in. It is far too strong of an effect to have.
