SM UU Froslass Offensive Team

Hello, I want to show you one of my teams from the Tier Underused, taking advantage that Froslass was promoted to UU at the beginning of the month, I formed an offensive team.

ico_shuffle_478.png

Yuki Onna (Froslass) (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Destiny Bond
- Ice Beam
- Shadow Ball
- Spikes
Froslass is the suicide leader of the team, its role is to place spikes when entering the field and if it is quick to even attack other ghosts with Shadow Ball, if they did enough damage, taking advantage of the Focus Sash, use Destiny Bond if they do enough damage, its move is that it is quite situational, since if Froslass uses that movement, the rival is boosted and the effect of the movement is ruined.
Mega_Sharpedo.png

Archie (Sharpedo-Mega) (M) @ Sharpedonite
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Liquidation
- Crunch
- Protect
- Ice Fang
Mega Sharpedo fulfills its role as a member of the team with megastone, Mega Sharpedo covers Froslass from almost all its weaknesses and protects itself to booste speed and overcome several megaevolutions like M-Aerodactyl, M-Beedrill and fast Pokémon like Zeraora and Scarf Latias, when it acquires enough speed , megaevolves and this is when he performs his role of being a physical sweeper, his main weakness is in his defenses that he can't stand a U-turn of a Scizor.
180px-Latias_PLB.png

Latias (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 128 SpA / 128 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Ice Beam
Latias on the other hand his role is a special sweeper fast and defogger when necessary, Scarf Latias outperforms M-Beedrill, M-Aerodactyl and hits the first one with Psychic, Ice Beam serves for coverage against Altaria and Draco Meteor hits for Stab a Pokémon like Hydreigon and other Latias, covers Sharpedo from the Fighting-Type Pokémon like Infernape but Latias can't stand a Scizor U-Turn either.
ico_shuffle_778.png

PikaFake (Mimikyu) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 184 Atk / 72 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak
- Shadow Claw
Mimikyu also plays a physical sweeper role with Sword Dance plus his Disguise ability, with Play Rough he eliminates Pokémon like Hydreigon, Latias and M-Altaria, Shadow Claw to eliminate ghost and psychic Pokémon like Latias, Azelf, Chandelure and other Mimikyu, Shadow Sneak with priority and STAB, Sword Dance rises the physical attack of Mimikyu.
ico_shuffle_392.png

Macaco (Infernape) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Close Combat
- Mach Punch
Infernape aside from being a physical sweeper, it also covers the team from a common threat, Scizor, Infernape can kill Scizor of a Flare Blitz, U-Turn hits the psychic type to change Pokémon if Infernape is at a disadvantage, Close Combat hits hard for STAB and Choice Band for other Pokémon like Cobalion, Terrakion, Lucario, etc. and Mach Punch has priority if the opponent is faster than Infernape.
Shuffle793.png

Lusamine (Nihilego) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Power Gem
- Stealth Rock
Nihilego plays a special Sweeper role as fast as Latias, Nihilego has Black Sludge to heal, Stealth Rock for when the opponent changes from Pokémon, suffers damage and more if he is weak to the rock type, Thunderbolt provides coverage against water-type Pokémon , Sludge Wave hits Stab for Pokémon of grass and fairy type, Power Gem is also for STAB against M-Beedrill and M-Pidgeot, Nihilego's weakness is in its physical defense and more because he can't stand an Earthquake .
Threatlist:
Scizor
: Scizor usually carries Bullet Punch and U-Turn, Froslass, Mimikyu and Nihilego fall from a single bullet fist, it's hard to stop because for Sharpedo and Latias he has a U-turn that hits them hard, if Infernape falls, Scizor could destroy The team without so much difficulty.
Priority Users: The team having paper defenses, it is easy for them to fall from a priority attack unless they have a type that resists them, such as Aqua Jet from Crawdaunt, Bullet Punch from Scizor, Extreme Speed from Linoone, Vacuum Wave from Infernape, etc.

Hi SteeneeMallow2, for the most part this resembles a pretty decent spikes HO team in UU at a glance, but some of the sets are a little off. As you have said also, your scizor matchup isn't particularly fun, especially with infernape as an answer that dies to a +2 quick attack after stealth rock.

There are a few set changes I would make first before I make any big changes to this team. For explanations on changes, look at the spoiler tags!

Minor Changes:

:froslass:

:sm/froslass:

Yuki Onna (Froslass) (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Destiny Bond
- Icy Wind
- Taunt
- Spikes

This isn't PU, which I'm assuming you may have got the idea of your set from (though focus sash would have been uncommon on an offensive froslass). Taunt is very important to a UU froslass, preventing hazards from being removed or set up by the enemy. Icy Wind is nicer over Ice beam as it allows you to slow down opposing pokemon, such as Aerodactyl-Mega and Scarf-Hydreigon, which can let you get a destiny bond against them. Both are situational, but you should mainly be focusing on setting up spikes in most matchups.

:sharpedo-mega:

:sm/sharpedo-mega:

Archie (Sharpedo-Mega) (M) @ Sharpedonite
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Psychic Fangs / Earthquake
- Crunch
- Protect
- Ice Fang

Liquidation tends to be a poor option on sharpedo, with the coverage earthquake and psychic fangs offering being more useful. Psychic fangs allows you a much stronger attack than ice fang vs amoongus, and the best attack you can use vs primarina. Earthquake allows you to hit steel-types such as cobalion the hardest, while still hitting fire types such as volcanion supereffectively too.

An adamant nature is completely better than a naughty nature here by the way, as you have no special attacks to care about.

Once I make some further changes later, we'll discuss which of these two moves you should be using and when.

:latias:

:sm/latias:

Latias (F) @ Dragonium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Draco Meteor
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Scarf Latias used to be run on Spike stack teams once upon a time, but on these sort of teams now Latias much more appreciates a calm mind set, to break down the enemy team for Sharpedo to clean up in the late game. Defog on Latias wasn't particularly helping you either as losing your own hazards was highly detrimental to your breaking potential with sharpedo.

This set is a standard 3 attacks calm mind set, with +1 hidden power fire allowing you to OHKO all scizor variants, which your team would greatly appreciate, preventing it using you as setup fodder. Dual STABS with dragonium-Z maximise your damage output.

:mimikyu:

:sm/mimikyu:

PikaFake (Mimikyu) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Play Rough
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak
- Shadow Claw

Very little change here, except changing the EV spread to max-max, as hitting as hard as possible is incredibly important with mimikyu's low damage output as it is.

Wood hammer could potentially be an option for you over shadow claw if you are finding the stall matchup to be very hard to win however.

So now we made some quick changes to the sets, I wanted to have a look at your remaining two members. I felt that nihilego wasn't really contributing hugely compared to a really strong secondary breaker such as scizor (or mamoswine), and didn't help you vs beedrill-mega like you said either because of its low speed, which I can understand you might feel problematic in some games, especially without priority to deal with it.

It also left you without much breaking power, especially in the original version that did not possess a calm mind latias.

Major Change:

:nihilego: -> :scizor:

:sm/scizor:

lusamine (Scizor) @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Quick Attack
- Swords Dance

An offensive SD scizor set fits here nicely. Even without nihilego, you shouldn't find birds like moltres to be too irritating, as you now have quick attack to help against them, and they should struggle to keep stealth rock off against you.

+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Technician Scizor Quick Attack vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Moltres: 204-240 (63.5 - 74.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

The double priority shoudl really help you vs more offensive teams too, allowing you to pick off pokemon such as latias, infernape, and scarf hydreigon with priority moves at +2.

Superpower allows you to break through steels better, stopping cobalion/aggron/steelix walling you in particular.

Finally, as we got rid of your stealth rocker, we needed a new one to replace it. To keep with the theme of your team more, instead of giving you yet another generic HO team, I decided to keep Infernape for this, though I will talk you through another option afterwards that makes the team more generic, but imo fits better on the team.

Minor Change - Option 1:

:infernape:

:sm/infernape:

Macaco (Infernape) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 168 Atk / 88 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
- Close Combat
- Taunt / Gunk Shot

A mixed infernape set with stealth rocks is an option here if you wish to keep your infernape, as it's blistering speed allows it to outspeed pokemon such as non-scarf Defog Hydreigon unlike a Stealth Rock krookodile, and kill it before it defogs. The strong mixed coverage allows infernape to be threatening to the enemy team itself, while being able to serve as a soft check to scizor and doublade, the lattr of which is nice in particular due to the lack of knock off on scizor, allowing it to effectively wall it.

Taunt on this set allows you to prevent pokemon such as Gligar and Moltres from attempting to defog against you. Gunk Shot is an alternative option to allow you to hit fairies such as Primarina and Altaria, making your Latias's time a lot easier, but runs the risk of Pokemon defogging on you.

Thanks to infernape, you can now consider running earthquake on Sharpedo, as you have a better matchup vs amoongus, and would rather make sure you have extra security vs cobalion.

Focus Sash could be considered for the item, but leaves you with far less power, but this is something you could change if you feel you prefer it.

Major Change - Option 2:

:infernape: -> :cobalion:

:sm/cobalion:

Macaco (Cobalion) @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Justified
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Close Combat
- Iron Head
- Taunt

Stealth Rock cobalion tends to fit these sort of teams really nicely, with the same speed tier allowing it to outspeed a lot of pokemon and taunt them, while being a strong offensive check to non-superpower Scizor variants. It also handles aerodactyl-mega nicely thanks to the shuca berry, and other pokemon such as krookodile too. It's typing and justified allows it to punish pokemon such as scarf hydreigon for attempting to anti-lead froslass also.

The only downside to this pokemon is that you struggle more against doublade as a team as a whole, meaning you should probably consider Knock Off on Scizor with this. This also means that sharpedo should run earthquake in this variant too, as scizor no longer has superpower.

Final Team

:sm/froslass: :sm/sharpedo-mega: :sm/latias: :sm/mimikyu: :sm/infernape: :sm/scizor:

This version keeps more to your original feel of the team with the infernape present, and has a potentially better matchup against doublade (and primarina if you use gunk shot), however leaves it weaker to mega-aerodactyl and scizor.

:sm/froslass: :sm/sharpedo-mega: :sm/latias: :sm/mimikyu: :sm/cobalion: :sm/scizor:

This version is a very generic spikes HO team, but has improved scizor and aerodactyl matchups, but struggles slightly more against doublade if you don't change scizor to Knock Off.
