Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
name: Entry Hazard Wall (Grass)
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Gyro Ball / Iron Head
- Stealth Rock / Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Body Press / Protect

[Set Comments]
Ferrothorn is a highly reliable wall in Grass teams, boasting good defensive stats, recovery, and an immunity to Poison. It's an incredible asset for Grass teams, as it can manage notable threats such as Kyurem, Tapu Lele, and Melmetal. Gyro Ball capitalizes on its low Speed and threatens Fairy-types and fast foes like Alolan Ninetales and Tapu Lele. However, Iron Head provides more consistent damage against slower foes like Hatterene and is less susceptible to PP stalling, which is particularly useful against Kyurem if Ferrothorn isn't running Body Press. Depending on its teammates, Ferrothorn can opt for Stealth Rock or Spikes, as Cradily can also set up Stealth Rock, while Meowscarada has access to Spikes and Toxic Spikes. With the combination of Leech Seed and Leftovers, Ferrothorn gains substantial recovery each turn, enabling it to wear down and punish switch-ins such as Heatran, Aegislash, and Nidoking. Protect serves as a scouting tool and extends the benefits of Leech Seed and Leftovers, while Body Press allows Ferrothorn to utilize its high Defense and deal significant damage to Steel- and Dark-types, like Melmetal and Weavile. When in conjunction with Gyro Ball, Body Press ensures that Substitute Kyurem won't be able to PP stall Ferrothorn, and when used with Iron Head, it guarantees an OHKO against Weavile. The featured EV spread both prevents a 2HKO from Choice Band Weavile's Icicle Crash and lets Ferrothorn almost always beat SubRoost Kyurem.

Ferrothorn forms a formidable defensive core with Mega Venusaur, as the latter's typing and ability enable it to come in on Fighting- and Ice-types such as Iron Valiant, Iron Moth, and Galarian Darmanitan. Additionally, Mega Venusaur's Sludge Bomb can poison foes, allowing Ferrothorn's combination of Leech Seed and Protect to wear them down more quickly. Cradily is another valuable partner, providing natural special bulk and a favorable matchup against Blacephalon and Nidoking. Offensive partners such as Rillaboom, Meowscarada, Iron Leaves, and Zarude greatly appreciate Ferrothorn weakening the opposing team with entry hazards and Leech Seed. In return, Rillaboom sets up Grassy Terrain for additional recovery and provides strong priority damage, while Choice Scarf Meowscarada can revenge kill threats such as boosted Kommo-o. Whimsicott and Celebi handle Fighting-types such as Iron Valiant and Kommo-o, which would otherwise pose a threat to Ferrothorn. Whimsicott also punishes setup sweepers like Volcarona or Mega Scizor, which could otherwise use Ferrothorn as setup fodder, while Celebi helps ease the Poison matchup, as well as the Steel matchup in a pinch.

Ferrothorn is a highly reliable wall in Grass teams, boasting good defensive stats, recovery, and an immunity to Poison (who exactly does it wall/defend grass from though). Gyro Ball capitalizes on its low Speed and threatens Fairy-types and fast opponents like Crobat and Kyurem(Kyurem PP Stalls gyro unless its used with Body Press. Are there any notable calcs that arent crobat that Gyro would kill but Iron Head wont? Eg. Tapu Lele, Ninetales Alola, and someone Ig) . However, against slower foes like Hatterene, Iron Head provides more consistent damage (its also harder to pp stall it that way). Depending on its teammates, Ferrothorn can opt for Stealth Rock or Spikes, as Cradily can also set up Stealth Rocks while Meowscarada gains access to Spikes and Toxic Spikes. With the combination of Leech Seed and Leftovers, Ferrothorn gains substantial recovery each turn, enabling it to wear down opposing walls such as Toxapex, Blissey (blissey wont come into you, you beat it with Body press anyway. Its more of annoying stuff because Ferro forces switchy too), Gliscor (bullies you instead because taunt), and Mandibuzz. Protect serves as a scouting tool and extends the benefits of Leech Seed and Leftovers, while Body Press allows Ferrothorn to utilize its high defense and deal significant damage to Steel- and Dark-types as well as handle Substitute Kyurem better (lets you also harm Melmetal which sucks for grass, and also lets you OHKO Weavile if not running Gyro). When paired with Mega Venusaur, Ferrothorn forms a formidable defensive core, as Mega Venusaur's typing and ability enable it to tank Fighting-, Fire-, and Ice-type moves that could otherwise threaten Ferrothorn (which mons tho, it would be better to say what mons over what types). Additionally, Venusaur's Sludge Bomb can poison opponents, allowing Ferrothorn's combination of Leech Seed and Protect to wear them down faster. Cradily is another valuable partner, providing natural special bulk and a favorable matchup against Fire teams (you 90% of the time lose vs fire, Crad is more of against those guys like Scarf Blace in Ghost, Nidoking...). Wallbreakers such as Rillaboom, Meowscarada, Iron Leaves, and Zarude greatly appreciate Ferrothorn's ability to weaken the opposing team with entry hazards and Leech Seed (Scarf Meow isnt a wallbreaker). Whimsicott and Celebi handle Fighting-types such as Iron Valiant and Kommo-o that would otherwise pose a threat to Ferrothorn (Whims is an anti setup deterrent too, which ferro might invite as he attracts guys like Volcarona or M.Sciz which can setup on him without much thought. Celebi is able to ease the Poison matchup, or even steel in a pinch).

*Also, what exactly are the EVs for. Headcalcs says this is likely for Specs Kyurem, while not being killed by Weevil's triple axel, but double check please.

Ferrothorn is a highly reliable wall in Grass teams, boasting good defensive stats, recovery, and an immunity to Poison which is necessary against foes like Mega Venusaur (M.Ven uses HP Fire, making this a poor example. Also, I meant like a 1 sentence summary, like Ferrothorn checking Kyurem, Weevil (or stopping Lele/Melmy too), on top of Poison immune would be nice) . Gyro Ball capitalizes on its low Speed and threatens Fairy-types and fast opponents like Crobat (crobat wouldnt want to combat ferro, since HeatWave Crobat isnt a thing...yet, and is mostly supportive. Meanwhile, Alolan Ninetales can be quite annoying for grass and must be deleted as soon as possible, Tapu Lele can risk staying in if it means you 2HKO ferro [or if Ferro doesnt have a Steel move]), Alolan Ninetales, and Tapu Lele. However, Iron Head provides more consistent damage against slower foes like Hatterene and is less susceptible to PP stalling (especially useful if not using Body Press, against Kyurem). Depending on its teammates, Ferrothorn can opt for Stealth Rock or Spikes, as Cradily can also set up Stealth Rocks while Meowscarada gains access to Spikes and Toxic Spikes. With the combination of Leech Seed and Leftovers, Ferrothorn gains substantial recovery each turn, enabling it to wear down and forces switches from opponents such Toxapex, Clodsire, and Gliscor (Pex doesnt really care since you dont have anything to actually kill it with [its gonna be more proactive against you actually since it doesnt want you to stack your spikes], Gliscor Taunts you and you lose your item and probably suffer a horrible death, Clodsire is...there. Leech Seed lets you annoy those guys like Nidoking, Heatran, Aegislash, that can come into you without getting punished too much to spread horror) . Protect serves as a scouting tool and extends the benefits of Leech Seed and Leftovers, while Body Press allows Ferrothorn to utilize its high defense and deal significant damage to Steel- and Dark-types like Melmetal and Weavile. When in conjunction with Gyro Ball, Body Press ensures that Substitute Kyurem won't be able to PP stall Ferrothorn, and when used with Iron Head it guarantees a OHKO against Weavile. Ferrothorn forms a formidable defensive core with Mega Venusaur, as the former's typing and ability enable it to come in on Fighting-, Fire-, and Ice-types such as Iron Valiant, Skeledirge (M.Ven loses to skele) , and Galarian Darmanitan, respectively. Additionally, Mega Venusaur's Sludge Bomb can poison opponents, allowing Ferrothorn's combination of Leech Seed and Protect to wear them down faster. Cradily is another valuable partner, providing natural special bulk and a favorable matchup against Blacephalon and Nidoking. Offensive partners such as Rillaboom, Meowscarada, Iron Leaves, and Zarude greatly appreciate Ferrothorn's ability to weaken the opposing team with entry hazards and Leech Seed (these guys [bar leaves/zarude] are generally more important than Celebi, wouldnt it be better to have descriptions for them [eg. Scarf Meow RK'ing Clanged Kommo-o]). Whimsicott and Celebi handle Fighting-types such as Iron Valiant and Kommo-o that would otherwise pose a threat to Ferrothorn. Whimsicott also punishes setup sweepers like Volcarona or Mega Scizor, which could otherwise use Ferrothorn as setup fodder, while Celebi helps ease the Poison matchup, as well as the Steel matchup in a pinch. The featured EV spread prevents Ferrothorn from a 2HKO by both Choice Band Weavile's Icicle Crash and lets Ferrothorn almost always beat SubRoost Kyurem Choice Specs Kyurem's Freeze Dry.

about paragraph split: after deciding paragraph split was warranted due to paragraph length / split in content, i checked section announcements and it said "1 paragraph 8-10 lines is standard, but more can be done if needed." for ref, this was 18 lines and change before my changes. this feels like a 'more was needed' case and i have no objection to that, but if you/qc/etc. does dislike the split, we can talk about things & change things
