Calm Mind allows Clefable to become extremely bulky on the special side, letting it to take on Pokemon it otherwise couldn't like Palkia-O, and also reduces its passivity thanks to the Special Attack boost. The combination of Wish and Protect gives Clefable reliable recovery, allows it to PP stall, and can allow it to help Pokemon that lack reliable recovery like Palafin and Magearna out. Tera Dark allows Clefable to win against Pokemon it otherwise couldn't like Gholdengo and Mewtwo while also providing a useful immunity to Psychic-type attacks Deoxys and Stored Power Magearna. Clefable best fits on semi-stall as well as full stall and balance teams looking for a solid wall and Wish passer. Pokemon like Kyurem-W, Mewtwo, and Palafin that don't have reliable recovery appreciate Clefable providing Wish support to them, allowing them to excel better as offensive threats. Clefable struggles against Pokmeon like Arceus-Poison, Gholdengo, and Dialga that can muscle through it with their super effective STAB moves, so Pokemon that can take these threats on like Landorus and Ogerpon-H can be helpful to have.

Tera Dark allows Clefable to win against Pokemon it otherwise couldn't like Gholdengo and Mewtwo while also providing a useful immunity to Psychic-type attacks from the beforementioned Mewtwo and Deoxys (No mention of Stored Power?). Clefable best fits on balance (fat, semi stall and stall. not balance.) teams looking for a solid wall and wishpasser. Pokemon like Kyurem-W, Mewtwo, and Recover-less Arceus-Poison who don't have reliable recovery appreciate Clefable providing wishes to them, allowing them to excell as better offensive threats. Clefable struggles against Pokmeon like Arceus-Poison, Gholdengo, and Dialga who can muscle through it with their super-effective STAB against it, so Pokemon who can take these threats on like Landorus and Ogerpon-H can be helpful to have.
