Empoleon @ Heavy-Duty Boots

[SET COMMENTS]
Empoleon has a wide array of utility moves such as Knock Off, Flip Turn, and Roost that allow it to be a valuable support piece on Steel teams. It acts as a phenomenal special wall, easily shrugging off attacks from potent special attackers such as Flutter Mane, Greninja, Walking Wake, and Hisuian Zoroark. Surf is Empoleon's best way of dealing consistent damage as well as taking care of Fire-type Pokemon such as Talonflame, Iron Moth, and Heatran. Knock Off allows Empoleon to soften up defensive staples such as Toxapex, Slowbro, Galarian Weezing, and Porygon2 and remove Choice items from the aforementioned special attackers. Flip Turn is a great pivoting option that allows Empoleon to provide safe switches for wallbreaking teammates such as Kingambit and Choice Specs Gholdengo. Competitive deters opponents from removing hazards via Defog, as the +2 boost to Surf allows Empoleon to deal huge damage.

Thanks to Competitive deterring Defog and Knock Off to remove Heavy-Duty Boots, Empoleon thrives on Steel teams that rely on entry hazards, so hazard-setting teammates such as Archaludon and Skarmory are great picks. Skarmory and Archaludon are also able to use their incredible Defense stats to stand up to physical attackers that Empoleon is unable to deal with, such as Chien-Pao, Kingambit, Sneasler, and Baxcalibur. Skarmory is also able to switch into Ground-type attacks that would otherwise threaten Empoleon. Kingambit is a powerful teammate for Empoleon, as the entry hazard damage and removal of items from Pokemon like Choice Specs Walking Wake and Greninja and Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon like Quagsire and Toxapex make Kingambit's job a lot easier. Empoleon is also capable of switching into Fire-type attacks, Matcha Gotcha from Sinistcha, and Will-O-Wisp from Dragapult, as well as threatening to remove their Leftovers. Gholdengo is a great teammate for Empoleon, as it can safely switch into Fighting-type attacks that threaten Empoleon. Gholdengo can also take advantage of the hazards on the field, as its checks, such as Alolan Muk, Ting-Lu, and Heatran, are weakened by them as they switch in. Iron Treads is able to remove hazards via Rapid Spin, which protects Empoleon in case its Heavy-Duty Boots get removed by Knock Off. Air Balloon Iron Treads is also capable of providing as a Ground immunity, albeit temporarily, and threatening foes like Gliscor and Landorus with a strong Ice Spinner. Excadrill is a strong physical attacker that appreciates Empoleon's ability to grant it safe switches with Flip Turn. Excadrill is able to fire off very powerful attacks like Earthquake and Iron Head, all while the opposing team takes chip damage from entry hazards. Both Iron Treads and Excadrill are able to switch into Electric-type attacks from Pokemon like Zapdos, Thundurus-T, Choice Specs Flutter Mane, and Rotom formes while threatening them back with Ice Spinner, Rock Slide, Iron Head, and Mold Breaker Earthquake, respectively. Corviknight can switch into Ground-type attacks as well and is also capable of attacking Fighting- and Grass-type Pokemon such as Sneasler, Great Tusk, Ogerpon-W, and Meowscarada with STAB-boosted Brave Bird. Empoleon can form a nice core with Heatran to help stop Fire-type Pokemon such as Volcanion, Volcarona, and Ninetales. Air Balloon Heatran is also capable of completely walling the most common Gouging Fire set. Hisuian Goodra is another formidable special wall that forms a nice core with Empoleon, further helping improve the Fire matchup. Its Dragon Tail also forces foes to switch out, thus racking up more hazard damage.

Flip Turn is a great pivot option that allows for Empoleon to provide safe switches for its wallbreaking teammates (mention examples like Kingambit and Specs Ghold, we can elaborate this in the next paragraph). Roost allows Empoleon to forego Leftovers, while still having a consistent recovery option. Competitive deters opponents from removing hazards via Defog, as the +2 boost to surf could be deadly.

Empoleon thrives on hazard stack Steel-type teams, so teammates such as Archaludon and Skarmory are great picks. Empoleon can remove opponent's Heavy-Duty Boots via knock off, deter the opponent from using Defog, and force uncomfortable switches thanks to Flip Turn pivoting. (repetition) Skarmory and Archaludon are also able to use their incredible physical defense stats, and in Archaludon's case, Stamina, (dex info) to stand up to physical attackers (give some examples here like Chien Pao, Low Kick Gambit, Sneasler, Bax) that Empoleon is unable to deal with. Skarmory is also able to switch in to Ground-type attacks that would otherwise destroy check Empoleon. Kingambit is a powerful teammate for Empoleon, as the entry hazard damage and removal of items (examples here like specs from ft horoark, hydrei, and wake, hdb from pex/quag) makes Kingambit's job a lot easier (mention how empo can also switch into Fire-type attacks for Kingambit, eat Matcha Gotcha from Sinistcha, switch into willo pult and threaten to knock its lefties). Gholdengo is a great teammate for Empoleon, as it can safely switch in to Fighting-type attacks that threaten Empoleon. Gholdengo is also to block Defog entirely, thanks to its ability Good as Gold (how does this benefit empoleon, empoleon is already preventing defog so this is kinda unnecessary). Gholdengo can also take advantage of the hazards on the field, as its checks (pls mention which checks, cuz they might run HDB and this becomes a moot point) are weakened as they switch in. Iron Treads is able to remove hazards via Rapid Spin, which protects Empoleon in the event of a Knock Off in case its boots are knocked off. Air Balloon Iron Treads is also capable of acting as a Ground-type immunity, albeit temporarily, and attacking back (attacking back who? mention lando, glisc, and other stuff that takes damage from spinner) with a strong Ice Spinner. Excadrill is a strong physical attacker that can appreciates Empoleon's ability to grant it safe switches (safe switches into what? also mention how treads and exca can switch into tbolt from thundy/zap/specs flutter/rotom and threaten with spinner, rock slide, iron head, mold breaker eq etc. just a few examples should suffice). Corviknight can switch in to Ground-type attacks as well, and is also capable of attacking Fighting-type Pokemon (not all Fighting-type pokemon care about 0 atk brave bird from corvi cuz zama/tusk/hands eat it up. instead of generalizing give examples like sneasler, valiant for fighting types, ogerpon-w for water since that mon completely walls your empo set) with STAB boosted Brave Bird. Excadrill is able to fire off very powerful attacks like Earthquakes and Iron Heads Earthquake and Iron Head, all while the opposing team takes loads of chip damage from entry hazards. (put this before the corviknight sentence. mention tran and how they both together are great fire checks for stuff like ninetales and gouging fire (air balloon tran walls gouging). talk about hoodra and how it forms a strong spdef core w empo for the fire mu, against stuff like goltres/moltres fly. overall i think more examples could be included to allow the reader to visualize the matchups more easily.)

Knock Off allows Empoleon to soften up defensive staples such as Toxapex, Slowbro, Galarian Weezing, and Porygon2 (RC) as well as removing remove Choice items from the aforementioned special attackers (this sentence probably needs to be after Surf to keep in set order- rephrase "aforementioned special attackers" accordingly since they won't be directly aforementioned anymore). Surf is Empoleon's best way of dealing consistent damage (RC) as well as taking care of Fire-type Pokemon such as Talonflame, Iron Moth, (AC) and Heatran. Flip Turn is a great pivot option that allows for Empoleon to provide safe switches for its wallbreaking teammates, such as Kingambit and Choice Specs Gholdengo. Competitive deters opponents foes from removing hazards via Defog, as the +2 boost to surf Surf could be deadly.

Empoleon thrives on hazard stack Steel-type teams that rely on entry hazards (could use Spikes stacking, which is an accepted term, but I'm personally unsure if it's accurate), so teammates such as Archaludon and Skarmory are great picks. Skarmory and Archaludon are also able to use their incredible physical defense stats to stand up to physical attackers that Empoleon is unable to deal with, such as Chien-Pao, Kingambit, Sneasler, and Baxcalibur. Skarmory is also able to switch in to into Ground-type attacks that would otherwise check Empoleon. Kingambit is a powerful teammate for Empoleon, as the entry hazard damage and removal of items from Pokemon like Choice Specs Walking Wake (RC) and Greninja (RC) and Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon like Quagsire (RC) and Toxapex (RP) makes make Kingambit's job a lot easier (specifying offensive items for the first part of item removal would make the sentence cleaner by differentiating Heavy-Duty Boots mons more, since HDB is also an item, but not 100% sure Gren typically runs offensive items). Empoleon is also capable of switching in to into Fire-type attacks, Matcha Gotcha from Sinistcha, and Will-O-Wisp from Dragapult, as well as threatening to remove its (Pult's?) Leftovers. Gholdengo is a great teammate for Empoleon, as it can safely switch in to into Fighting-type attacks that threaten Empoleon. Empoleon has a wide array of utility moves such as Knock Off, Flip Turn, and Roost that allow it to be a valuable support piece on Steel-type Steel teams (mono in particular wants you to say it like that). Empoleon It acts as a phenomenal special wall, easily shrugging off attacks from potent special attackers such as Flutter Mane, Greninja, Walking Wake, and Hisuian Zoroark. Surf is Empoleon's best way of dealing consistent damage as well as taking care of Fire-type Pokemon such as Talonflame, Iron Moth, and Heatran. Knock Off allows Empoleon to soften up defensive staples such as Toxapex, Slowbro, Galarian Weezing, and Porygon2 as well as and (repetitive) remove Choice items from the aforementioned special attackers. Flip Turn is a great pivot pivoting option that allows for Empoleon to provide safe switches for its wallbreaking teammates(RC) such as Kingambit and Choice Specs Gholdengo. Competitive deters opponents from removing hazards via Defog, as the +2 boost to surf Surf could be deadly. ("could be" seems like an odd choice here, I feel like the threat of giving Emp a free nasty plot should be described in stronger terms. Technically a content change tho so it's your call)

Empoleon thrives on Steel-type Steel teams that rely on entry hazards (why? Would be useful to explain, sentence feels incomplete otherwise), so hazard-setting teammates (clarity) such as Archaludon and Skarmory are great picks. Skarmory and Archaludon are also able to use their incredible physical defense Defense stats to stand up to physical attackers that Empoleon is unable to deal with, such as Chien-Pao, Kingambit, Sneasler, and Baxcalibur. Skarmory is also able to switch into Ground-type attacks that would otherwise check threaten Empoleon (moves don't check Pokemon, Pokemon check Pokemon). Iron Treads is able to remove hazards via Rapid Spin, which protects Empoleon in case its Heavy-Duty Boots is get knocked off removed by Knock Off ("is" was correct by GP held item standards but still awkward to read, hence the change. Avoid using move names as verbs whenever possible). Air Balloon Iron Treads is also capable of acting as providing a Ground-type Ground immunity, albeit temporarily, and attacking Pokemon threatening foes like Gliscor and Landorus with a strong Ice Spinner. Excadrill is a strong physical attacker that appreciates Empoleon's ability to grant it safe switches with Flip Turn. Excadrill is able to fire off very powerful attacks like Earthquake and Iron Head, all while the opposing team takes chip damage from entry hazards. Both Iron Treads and Excadrill are able to switch in(RS)to Electric-type attacks from Pokemon like Zapdos, Thundurus-T, Choice Specs Flutter Mane, and Rotom formes (your original wording would've referred only to base-forme Rotom, which I don't think you meant to do judging by the meta you're discussing) while threatening them back with Ice Spinner, Rock Slide, Iron Head, and Mold Breaker Earthquake, respectively. Corviknight can switch into Ground-type attacks as well and is also capable of attacking Fighting- and Grass-type Pokemon such as Sneasler, Great Tusk, Ogerpon-W, and Meowscarada with STAB-boosted Brave Bird. Empoleon and Heatran can form a nice core with Heatran (this works better with the sentence structure) to help stop Fire-type Pokemon such as Volcanion, Volcarona, and Ninetales. Air Balloon Heatran is also capable of completely walling the most common Gouging Fire set, which only uses Flare Blitz and Earthquake as attacking moves (you don't need to explain set details like these for other mons, they can simply refer to Gouging's page to find this info). Hisuian Goodra is another formidable specially defensive special wall that forms a nice core with Empoleon, further helping improve the Fire-type Fire matchup. Its Dragon Tail also forces enemies out foes to switch out, thus racking up more hazard damage.

[SET COMMENTS]
